I just recently finished the show too and I was really impressed by it. Reading the manga I got the feeling it was the sort of story that's a bit too esoteric and unique in its feeling and concept to get an anime adaptation, and if I didn't already know it had one I never would have thought it would get one. The show's art was maybe a bit simple but I think it was fitting and the direction felt really inspired. A lot of the scenes were beautifully done and captured the feeling from the manga perfectly, and the soundtrack was beautiful. I also thought the anime original chapters were very nice and fit into the story perfectly, which I find is unusual when new content is injected into an adaptation of a manga.

Overall I thought it was great for what it was and I'm happy tkmiz got such a nice adaptation of his work. I just wish it could have covered the whole story, since cutting off where it did obviously doesn't feel like a natural ending at all. But I understand there are limits to how much show they can make and it was better than trying to rush through the whole story in one cour.
