To "convince" Reiner he was actually living that situation, his memory was altered to the point he would again feel bad for something he was unable to stop, and someone else (coincidence it was again a Galliard???) did instead of him.

I was thinking that maybe it's all a nightmare of one of the transformed titans. Falco, for example. Him killing Colt, eating Porco, Gabi having to kill someone, Pieck and Magath getting bombed, these are all things that would happen in a nightmare of his.

Notably, the inconsistencies are all things Falco wouldn't know. He wouldn't know what the city or walls much look like because he's hardly seen it. He wouldn't know Eren's legs were bitten off because he wasn't there for it. He wouldn't know about Pieck ejecting from her titan to hide because he didn't see it. He didn't know Gabi couldn't ride a horse untill she mentioned it in passing, it was just something he assumed she could do before.
