Broadcast spreads out the exposition dumps a bit, if you watch it in chronological, the exposition dumps are stacked early in the show but it’s enough for people to drop it.

But chronological is true to the LN, right? If I don't mind a lot of exposition early is it better beyond that point?

Chronological have a story arc in the first 6 episodes then after that it becomes a sol comedy, the broadcast mixes in those sol episode in between the story arc episodes so that the season ends at the climax that is episode 6.

This. I've been trying to explain to one of my friends how good the anime is and I keep coming back to the overall production which is brilliant. The actual plot and some of the characters don't really blow me anyway but its really well done on every other count.

Yes. Obviously some themes appear dated now due to overuse, but that's not the fault of this particular series. Of course, the real test will require the opinions of people watching it a hundred years in the future.

I did no such thing. I simply called it what it was, if you decide to read into that thing I did not say then that is on you.
There are plenty of SoL comedy shows that can develop characters and themes, I don't know why you would assume what you did.
The point, however, is that there is a clear difference between how episode 1-6 are structured and the rest of season 1.

If people are bothered by the fact that the actual themes of the show are overused and not appreciate the actual execution of those themes in the show (which is the real selling point) then they don't know a good anime when they see it.

Usually they just haven't watched enough anime. After a few dozen shows of one particular genre they usually get the idea. Anime is a mass entertainment medium, so you shouldn't approach it with the same sense of sanctity that you would use with, say, classic literature or classical music.

Barely any of them have a real conflict, the point is that Haruhi still has a conflict that develops after the first arc and it's not solved until Live Alive to say the least.

The conflict isn't really in the forefront until Sigh which is season 2 anyway, it is definitely not enough for a story arc or anything like it. And Haruhi in Live Alive acts like she does because of what happens in Sigh.

Live Alive actually makes more sense when you go by the standalone episodes continuity. Sighs is badly planned, as a sequel to the first arc it's fine (that's what it was meant for at first) but when you put it in the chronological mix it's a disruptive and poorly done regression, that's why Kyoani ditched it at S1.
