The official BD subs had 231 mistranslated lines. The rest also sucked hard. The 10-bit 1080p version is 8GB due to constant motion and background gradients. Couldn't do anything about that without compromising for less than my usual standard of quality. The 8-bit 720p version is 2GB.
It's hard to share my thoughts when I don't want to spoil it for people who may have been waiting specifically for this. I thought that the character animation looked noticeably better than Reflection. I'm sure that was due to the animators being more practiced at using it. And the ample action had a very enjoyable amount of pink beamspam. It was a fun movie with a number of emotional moments that got to me as well.
I'm pretty sure it will. I remember his lines getting botched with a higher degree of frequency than most, especially when he's explaining the extra layer of his plan near the end involving the rocket and satellite.
The deal with Maxwell made logical sense from the start even with the official subs, but subtitles can't change taking away a character's responsibility for events by introducing a new one to take the fall for everything.
Brayden Gray
Your retarded obsession doesn't take away from Detonation's achievements.
William Kelly
Thanks for your work.
Cameron Fisher
I'm not arguing that Detonation isn't a good film and as far as handling the twist it did it about as well as it could and had proper foreshadowing and explanation for it, but Maxwell's existence's purpose is pretty clear and makes for poor writing.
Nathan Hall
>my waifu wasn't the ultimate villain therefore the movie is badly-written Remember how everyone thinks S1 is written like shit because Fate wasn't the big bad
The twists in S1 and A's are both established well from the very start. The Knights weren't pushed onto a path of misbelief by the cats, either. The cats simply bailed them out whenever things were going wrong for them. It also helps that there was no release gap in those cases.
In the case of Detonation's twist, we had Iris built up during all of Reflection and the manga with a release gap before Detonation even dropped in theaters (The relevant Reflection manga chapters released before Detonation did though it did not wrap up until after it was out), and then it turns out she's barely active in Detonation at all (the first piece of material to show Maxwell's existence, period, unlike how the masked "men" and mentions of Fate's mother appear early in the narratives of S1 and A's) and the instant Maxwell appears physically everyone and their literal mother knows how wrong Iris was about the incident and it makes her look like a complete idiot considering she was capable of gathering all sorts of information from other worlds entirely yet apparently everyone on Eltoria knew the real story somehow by looking into it a little.
As far as Detonation's narrative solely by itself not taking into account the year long cliffhanger and everything in Reflection, sure, the twist makes sense. They properly foreshadow it with the Iris Unit gunshots being heard and seen (not resembling anything Yuri is capable of) and the Director appearing while ominously speaking about budget concerns and generally being suspicious. But Iris was an established character with a motive and backstory before Detonation came out, and it makes it different.
Nathan Thompson
>i know you want to talk about the new canon movie BUT HERE'S MY FANFIC I JUST FINISHED MY FANFIC Fuck off.
Fate was just as well a character that's been built up since episode 1 of S1 and then all of a sudden bam suddenly she dindu nuffin and it was her mom who made her evil all along. The Knights were just as well characters who were built up since episode 1 of A's and then all of a sudden bam suddenly they dindu nuffin and it was a virus all along. They were foreshadowed to an extent, sure, and Maxwell was too. "boo hoo muh detonation first appearance" I'm sorry, when was the first mention of Precia being the evil behind everything again? How about the first mention of the darkness of the Book of Darkness? It sure as shit wasn't episode 1. It sure as shit wasn't the first half of their respective series. I don't know where you get off claiming this is somehow new.
Iris being ignorant of the truth is explained. It's all due to Maxwell's hidden influence. There's a reason why Iris finds nothing weird about supposedly existing for the benign purposes of planet restoration while also apparently having the means to quickly produce and remotely manage an army of killdroids. Chrono points this all out, did you watch the movie?
If you're just lashing out because of how far apart the movies were released then get the fuck over it. None of what you said makes Maxwell a badly-written villain. You just don't like him.
Austin Moore
Oh shit, thanks ron Today is a good day
Tyler Hughes
>new canon movie is released >"" >shitty fanfic for people who don't like Nanoha gets a shitty new chapter >"Today is a good day"
Fate does not appear in Season 1 until Episode 4. Guess what the ending of episode 4 foreshadows right after her very first appearance? Her mother having a large role in her motivations.
The masked cats do not appear until Episode 5 (before the halfway point) of A's, but that's also the first time they would ever have to logically intervene to bail the Knights out. Again, the cats also play a smaller role in what the Knight's overall objective was by comparison to Maxwell's deception. All they did as far as guiding the Knights was to tell them to keep doing what they had already decided to do with no guiding hand to set them on that path and helped them out when they needed it, then finished the job themselves with their own plan when the right timing came.
Meanwhile, we get an entire movie and several manga chapters with absolutely no hint whatsoever of Maxwell even existing until partway through Detonation, which is the second half of an existing work that built up Iris beforehand. The only reason to do so would be to make the twist not too obvious before Detonation came out, which is disingenuous. So yes, the release gap becomes very relevant in this case.
>Fate does not appear in Season 1 until Episode 4. I knew you'd fucking fall for it. How did I know you'd fucking fall for it? Because you talk like an idiot motherfucker who thinks his wrong opinions are fact.
To clarify my position here, this is Fate. This is a screencap from episode 1 of season 1. You'll note episode 1 came before episode 4. Now I know what you're going to say next: "well it's just an opening it's not part of the story!" and it betrays the level of your reading comprehension. We were talking specifically about the build up the non-ultimate villains have and this very well counts. She's a mystery character who we don't see for a significant amount of time, she's clearly in combat with the protagonist, she's being built up as the series' villain. By your own standards, this means that her having the rug pulled from under her is a case of bad writing. If you want to argue otherwise then you'll be arguing against your own argument, which you should because it was shit.
In a further example of your horrendous reading comprehension, you brought up how Precia was brought up in episode 4. If you had any brain at all you'd have noticed that at no point did I claim she wasn't foreshadow - just that her role as "the ultimate villain responsible for everything" was. The initial mentions of her are very vague and could be taken as a number of different things. Maybe she was ill or something. We don't know until later. (1/2)
In a FURTHER example of your horrendous reading comprehension, you brought up the Masked Men and their role as mysterious guardians to the antagonists. You know, they're really not an example of the things you'd claim to be bad writing. They don't take center stage after being revealed, unlike the cases of Fate->Precia and Iris->Maxwell. That's why I didn't bring them up AT ALL in my post. They're not relevant to this conversation in any way.
But they do help me dismantle your point about how Maxwell is bad because there's "absolutely no hint whatsoever of Maxwell even existing until partway through Detonation, which is the second half of an existing work that built up" another antagonist previously. Because the true parallel to this in A's is, as I've ACTUALLY mentioned in that other post, the darkness of the Book of Darkness. Which is, as you'd put it, a villain "with absolutely no hint" of their existence until quite a ways into A's, which was a work that built up the Knights and the Masked Men beforehand. Was it disingenious too when A's held to the secret for such a long time? Or more relevant towards your initial claim, would this constitute a case of poor writing? A's? (2/2)
Mason Sanchez
Also the scans for the Detonation booklet that came with the blu-rays if you missed it:
The Book of Darkness being bad news if it was completed was not a secret or withheld in the least. The Knights didn't realize it themselves until around episode 8, but it's outright stated by Chrono and Lindy in episode 5, and implied to be bad news at the end of episode 2, the earliest possible point.
Maxwell doesn't show up ANYWHERE in Reflection or the manga. Any mention of him would have made things feel a lot less disingenuous for the sake of having a twist you can't see coming before watching Detonation, just as how Precia and the Book of Darkness' true nature are implied early on in their respective series. Reflection and Detonation are meant to be a whole work together, but they don't feel like it as a result of Maxwell.
I'm not even going to argue on the Fate thing because it seems we inherently see that circumstance completely differently, and I do not count the OP of a show as a proper storytelling tool.
>Any mention of him would have made things feel a lot less disingenuous for the sake of having a twist you can't see coming before watching Detonation I predicted Maxwell last year right after Reflection... sort of: I correctly predicted that the main villain would be a bureaucrat who would be introduced as a minor character. I couldn't have known specifically about Maxwell since, as you're justifiably harping on, he wasn't foreshadowed at all.
Yes, the "Book of Darkness" was bad news. Not the rogue program secreted within that was manipulating the actions of the Knights in the background. That's what I'm getting at. Everyone could have just as well be talking about the Knights themselves when declaring that the Book should not be completed. Unlike what you say, it's only Vita that realizes something is wrong with the whole arrangement and even then she only suggests it - it's the foreshadowing that the Knights aren't the true villains behind everything. You're right that this is episode 8, though. A bit past the second half. Where Maxwell begins being foreshadowed and eventually revealed, in the movies. See?
The Darkness of the Book of Darkness quite literally shows up NOWHERE until the final stretch of the show, and that's even IF you count Reinforce. Again, unlike what you want to pretend, the DoBoD isn't implied anywhere early that can't be taken to mean the Knights. Its situation would be exactly the same as Maxwell's if A's were two movies (and I mean TV A's in case you want to go full secondary to save face). Oh the TRUE villain isn't the Knights/Iris, and it isn't the Masked Men/Yuri, or even a weird gotcha bad guy like Hayate/Eleanor, it's actually the never-before-mentioned rogue BoD program/Maxwell.
>and I do not count the OP of a show as a proper storytelling tool. This conversation is about the build up, and the OP was part of that build up. You're free to ignore it all you want but it is what it is.
>justifiably Fuck off, retard. If you don't like how Maxwell is handled then you have a problem with S1 and A's as well. Which wouldn't surprise me.
Hunter Murphy
>tells people to not enjoy fanfics >while spamming his own fanfic The ironing.
Nanoha should stay a little girl forever. Alternatively, if she has to grow up, she should get new clothes. Her old magical girl clothes were design with her childish proportions in mind. On an adult, they look kinda drab. Using a side tail as a substitute for the childish pigtails is also lame. Everything about adult Nanoha's design feels like one compromise after another. They should have just completely revamped her look if they were gonna age her up. Besides, there's no point in having an elementary schooler and an adult wear the same style of clothing, even if they're the same person. Who the hell wears the same shit for ten straight years?
Xavier Gomez
>Nanoha should stay a little girl forever. This. Adultshit was a mistake, through and through.
>Everyone could have just as well be talking about the Knights themselves when declaring that the Book should not be completed. I specifically cited a conversation in which Chrono and Lindy go over how the Knights trying to activate the Book can only lead to destruction and catastrophe in the end when it's finished. They don't say the Knights themselves will bring about that devastation, they say the BOOK will. That's more than enough to deduce something is up with it and that the Knights are potentially being mislead during Episode 6, the episode that inadvertently shows how the Knights seem to have no idea what completing the book will actually do, other than that they think it can save their master to have her become the proper lord of the tome. And again, at the end of Episode 2, Chrono mentions about how the BOOK specifically has brought the TSAB nothing but trouble, and doesn't specifically act like it's the Knights that are the issue, either.
Ryder Lopez
I just hate unbalanced designs. Nanoha's magical girl uniform is based off a school uniform. When an adult wears something like that, it's just uncomfortable.
Benjamin White
>Nanoha's magical girl uniform is based off a school uniform. I'm pretty sure nobody remembers that anymore, sadly.
Her first Strikers design looks fucking terrible since it was trying too hard to resemble how her old design was, but Exceed Mode looks fantastic and I love that she started doing the sidetail instead of the twintailed compromise in Force.
Seeing an adult wear twin-tails is weird, but the side tail isn't much better. May as well just go full ponytail. It's uncomfortable because it feels like an adult is trying to recapture her youth or something, and goes a little further than she should.
Josiah Rodriguez
>It's uncomfortable because it feels like an adult is trying to recapture her youth That's because they knew damn well the adultshit was a mistake and had to try and find a middle ground in case the normalfaggots they were trying to appeal to didn't bite the bait.
Nicholas Rogers
I don't see how a long sidetail feels childish. It's always come off to me with an air of maturity. Nanoha's hairstyle as a child was unique, and a ponytail would have been very generic. The twintails were pretty generic looking themselves, but I at least understood them as being her childhood hairstyle but grown out, and whenever she was untransformed she always wore her sidetail.
It is understood that either the Knights (or their master, in-universe) would bring destruction and not just the Book acting autonomously. The audience was given no hints that the Book would do that as opposed to being used by someone with hands as we saw it previously, and Chrono and Lindy didn't know either - only Graham and the Masked Men did. If they did, then surely they would be more open about the situation with their front attackers, since unlike that one time in S1, there's nothing to gain from leaving Nanoha in the dark.
I suppose you could argue that they DID know about it and just never mentioned it for the meta purpose of keeping the twist secret for later, but then that's exactly what you complained about in regards to Maxwell.
As for episode 6, at no point do they express doubt about what the Book will do. They think it will grant Hayate awesome power and/or fix her legs and there you go. Obviously we know they don't know, but they don't know they don't know and they won't know they don't know until later. They just self-assuredly say what the(y think) the book will do and the audience has no real reason to question it at that time. Hey they came out of the book, right? They'd know.
Blake Rivera
So this was Triangle Heart? The Nanoha predecessor?
>As for episode 6, at no point do they express doubt about what the Book will do. They don't, I said the audience would. Lindy and Chrono explain at the end of Episode 5 that literally nothing but destruction has ever been recorded as a result of the Book being completed. Then you see the Knights thinking it'll save Hayate to complete it while not worrying one bit, and some eyebrows will get raised.
Jaxson Clark
Which is proof that you're supposed to think the Knights are the ones responsible. Especially since immediately afterwards they mention how they only ever do what their master tells them to do as that's what they're programmed to do, and next episode you get this long-ass flashback showing that Hayate is apparently their first master who's treated them as family instead of weapons of war.
This thread's as good as any. Have some doujins by the Nanoha Innocent mangaka that I scanned. I think I've posted some of them before but not all of them, and not on Yea Forums.
So what's next for Nanoha? All the manga are finished or on hiatus and there has not been a new announcement for a movie or series yet. I'm kinda sick of movies already. I want a new TV series.
Easton White
>At the moment, we can disclose information about "Magical girl lyrical Nanoha Reflection" which will be released this summer. This is the newest movie version of Masaki Tsuzuki's original work "Nanoha series", it's the first of a 2 parts film. We are also preparing for other 2 new TV series. "Nanoha series" will be our company's flagship. We're gathering first-class staffs to aim for a new "Nanoha" that is even more fascinating than it has ever been before. Please look forward to it.
Michael Gomez
Oh right I remember that. But they haven't said anything new about it recently, have they?
Do we have any source on this? People have been repeating this for like 3 years and I still don't know if it was ever confirmed to be true or if Seven Arcs changed plans.
Nicholas Bell
>2 TV series ELTRIA SPINOFF! ELTRIA SPINOFF! What do I have to sacrifice to Nana to make it happen? A pureblood pedigree russian blue cat?
Nothing confirmed but it's obviously going to be a TV adaptation of Reflection and Detonation. Either than or just a straight up continuation.
It is true but it was said before Shitid Shite crashed and burned, and likely even before Reflection was pulled out of development hell, so 100% they changed course since then.
Xavier Lee
I was mostly wondering why he was working with the group trying to revitalize Eltria for years if all he wanted was Iris' power. Couldn't he have just killed everybody earlier? Yuri didn't seem to be part of his plan initially. What would he have done if they just finished their work as planned, kill everyone then?
I'm probably just looking for something that isn't there as you say though, since he's ultimately only here so they don't blow up Iris.
Thomas Cruz
I'd sacrifice 10 if they did that and also went back to these designs for the Materials.
>I was mostly wondering why he was working with the group trying to revitalize Eltria for years if all he wanted was Iris' power. I have yet to watch these new subs but my take on it was that he was doing it for the money. Some businessmen mention at one point in the flashbacks that Phil was using the funds intended for planet restoration for some unknown purpose.
Kayden Walker
is correct, he wanted the money, and had been pouring funding from the government of Eltoria into his own projects to present to a military group as a backup plan in case the planetary revival project went down as it seemed like it was going to. He wouldn't have pulled what he did if the government didn't shut him down and deny him his budget, and Amitie thinks about this near the end of the film. Iris was both a terraforming unit and an artificial soldier because she was made both to help his current project but be a potential fallback, and the same specifications she had helped with both ends of things.
As for why he killed everyone, his stated reason was to save them from the horrible fate of wagecucking.
I kind of figured that was for making Iris as combat-capable as she was. Although now I mention that, I'm not sure if they established the committee built her together or just Phil before he met them.
Jonathan Thompson
Kyrie's new flower clips are silly. Are they just ontop the side strands rather than behind it where they could actually be holding back hair?

I just finished to watch the movie. I really like it but there were too much violence for me. And I have a doubt, how the fuck Amitie survived after getting shot through a laser cannon?
Nolan Martinez
She's strong.
Jace Thompson
I would love to see Force make a comeback. It’s my second favourite entry of Nanoha and seeing it stuck as an incomplete story still pisses me off. All Detonation did was take the superficial elements of Force and not what was actually good about it. It’s a fine movie but I refuse to accept it as a Force substitute.
Christian Harris
That's unfortunately where it ends though. With Force's elements having been used for Detonation because the author wanted to see them no matter what, it's not going to ever be revived. It sucks.
Jose Campbell
>how the fuck Amitie survived after getting shot through a laser cannon? Nanomachines
Ryan Gomez
Except Detonation ended. So it DID take the only good part about Edge I mean Force. (also strike cannon i guess) >It’s a fine movie but I refuse to accept it as a Force substitute. Good thing your opinion stopped mattering years ago.
Regardless of one’s own opinion of Force, the franchise has to address it sooner or later. It being unfinished but still canon has left a massive roadblock for the franchise. It needs to be dealt with. Either through retcon or actually continuing the story. Also adult Nanoha deserves a proper send off at the very least. Movie Nanoha is fun but she’s not the one I grew up with and became attached to.
Cooper Fisher
Force is canned and with it so is the first timeline now that Vivid is over.
Movies are the new canon. Whether we'll get a timeskip or not is another's guess but they did graduate at the end of Detonation so who knows.
It's a very shitty situation.
Gabriel Gray
This is like every greeting you post in every Nanoha thread compiled into one post.
The franchise never has to address Force. No one wants them to anyway and their method of sidestepping worked wonders. It's not canon. Not anymore. So it doesn't need to be dealt with anymore than Game Theory. Hag Nanoha doesn't deserve even the littlest shit. She's a symbol of decay and selling out. Nobody cares who you grew up with, newfag. Movie Nanoha is the one Nanoha who is true to the OG Nanoha. If you can't get over it because she doesn't have hag tits then that's your problem.
Caleb Baker
>It's a very shitty situation. *It's a very awesome situation. Sorry my hand slipped again.

Fucking everything makes more sense now. I know that the other subs got this completely wrong. I was so confused by how the satellite blowing up Tokyo was supposed to be a total bluff until I watched this. The old subs say something about the rocket carrying the satellite's communications antenna which was just weird. You can remotely craft an orbital cannon out of a raw satellite, but it can't build its own antenna? IT WAS A COMMUNICATIONS SATELLITE TO BEGIN WITH! Bad subs are bad.
That part was totally understandable with the official subs. I think you might be retarded.
Asher Jenkins
The old subs actually had the satellite bit make complete sense, Ron's take didn't change much there. Ron's subs have Amitie say "commands to relay to the satellite", BD subs have her say "satellite communications stack". If you somehow misinterpreted that it's on you.
>threads can't die with dignity, they have to be dragged up for an unnecesary round of humiliation, just like what happened to Nanoha before Reflection rolled around I reiterate. Fuck off, faggot.
Why do you think telling people to fuck off will cause them to fuck off when dozens of people have told you to fuck off across numerous threads and you're still here?
As if you have the right to cast judgement on who's better than who when you don't have a problem with faggots not letting the thread have its deserved rest just because they didn't get to ruin it.
Gavin Jones
>commence fanfic imagedump See, user? You CAN ruin a thread no one was using.
First off, it's no more fanfic than the image you're posting. StrikerS still exists as an entry in the Nanoha franchise even if you don't like it. Second, what's wrong with fanfic? You realize doujin is basically fanfic, as well as those greentext stories that get posted sometimes in threads, those are fanfic too. Third, should you chose to respond to this, the part that needs responding to is the second statement, not the first. The first is a standalone fact that does not require any input from you because nothing you say will change the fact that it is true. StikerS is part of the Nanoha franchise. So are ViVid, ViVid Strike, and Force. And the PSP games. Things don't stop being part of the franchise just because a new entry comes out. You don't see Dragonball fans saying GT isn't part of the franchise just because Super makes it non-canon.
It doesn't. It's non-canon, it's garbage, it's fanfic. It's not 2007 anymore, and you pretending it is won't make it so. It's been supplanted and the franchise is much more better off for it. >You don't see Dragonball fans saying GT isn't part of the franchise just because Super makes it non-canon. I won't dispute this because I'm sure you spend a lot of time in Dragon Ball threads, just like all the other omega faggots who unironically want Nanoha to be capeshit or shonenshit instead of being Nanoha, but you have to accept this isn't a fucking Dragon Ball thread. Maybe go back to your precious Dragon Ball threads if that fact upsets you. Take all your friends back there with you.
It's a thread for the monumental, franchise-wide crowning achievement that is Detonation. Go back to /e/ if you want mindless fetish imagedumps. >~nano You're a disgrace to all Nanoha fans who take the time to follow the series properly as it enters a brand new era.
>Movies are the new canon Did they ever actually address this? I thought the movies were some AU like the Code Geass movies. And the BDs have commentary by the Vivid characters, so they still exist. What are they gonna do about them?
Jayden Jenkins
Why do you hate Nanoha so much, instead of loving her always and forever, through thick and thin, even when she makes mistakes?
>Did they ever actually address this? I thought the movies were some AU like the Code Geass movies. They are
>Did they ever actually address this? I wish they would given how obvious it is, but they're not going to so the no-hopers that only pretend to like Nanoha get to keep clinging on and hopefully spending money. Well, we still get a better new canon so I'm not going to complain too much about this concession. >What are they gonna do about them? Forget them, in the same way a great many Nanoha-related things unceremoniously fell to the wayside over time. They should have never existed anyway.
Luke Lopez
Why do you hate Nanoha so much, instead of protecting her from bad actors and saving her from bad habits, you insist she push on, because this way she gets le big titties, and you're too much of a shitty normalfag to have it any other way?
>Forget them, in the same way a great many Nanoha-related things unceremoniously fell to the wayside over time. Like what? The only thing in Nanoha that has ever "fell to the wayside" is Force. EVERYTHING else they have put out has been completed. The ViVid manga finished just last year, AFTER the release of Reflection. You have NO basis for ANYTHING you are claiming, all of it comes straight from your ass.
Reminder that by responding to shitpost is also shitposting
Nicholas Torres
>Like what? ShitterS Sound Stage X? The Movie Manga canon? A couple other things I'm forgetting. All stuff that was obviously meant to be an ongoing "thing" but didn't pan out and was left there to fester until completely forgotten by everyone, you retarded newfag. Which is exactly what will happen to the Shitid continuity once the new Reflection-based canon gets fully going.
Carson Jones
No, that is exactly what you said here , stop defecting and own up to your retardation. And I haven't been in a Dragonball thread since before Super ended because the arguments about whether the Anime or Manga was canon made your autism look tame.
Thanks. I downloaded Rakujo Tennyo Oyui Zero Raws and the [ARR] subs overnight. [ARR]'s subs weren't timed to [Zero Raws], so I downloaded Aegisub and learned how to shift times. After the OP, shifting all start and ends backwards by :10:70 and then forwarding all ends by :00:70 seems to work well enough. Did ep2 and 3 so far.
I should really check out fujis new manga he's drawing since I love his art. I think it's getting an anime this season as well, so I should give it a look before that.
Of course, there's nothing wrong with that. Everyone should know the plague of fanficfags. Reminder that they're the ones that brought the thread back from the brink, just to do THIS to it.
You thought wrong. I don't hate Yuri and I only hate a few parts of GoD. Just the parts that anybody with any sense would hate, like the fucking time travel.
Isn't it nice? It makes for such a clear before-after divide.
You have the part before fanficfaggots found it, and it was allowed a natural lifespan and a lot of interesting, on-topic discussion - and the part after fanficfaggots found it, which is imagedumps from angry people who won't accept Detonation's salvation and don't want anyone else to either.
StrikerS SSX was an interesting thing and time - at that time, they were ready to toss new stories on bloody sound stage. It's a pitty they lost momentum with Vivid and and Force, I guess Force really should have been an anime.
I wonder what percentage of the fandom really knows the SSX story. IIRC everybody was "who is that" when Ixy appeared in Vivid anime and then in VStrike.
My ideal timeline would have been Force and Vivid storylines meeting in the future, where the unexplained Belkan ressurections would explain stuff in Force and vice verse, leading to grand unified finale. Pity that was not the goal or if it was, they abandoned it.
>can't even be bothered to actually illustrate what's going on anymore >"hurr this is interesting" If you wanted Nanoha to devolve into being nothing but air then I'm sure you're happy about Reflection and Detonation retconning all of that bullshit into the abyss. You don't have to worry about animation, you don't have to worry about visuals, and now you don't even have to worry about audio. What more could you ask for?
The faggots here who want to believe they're in the center will have one day to decide if they want to be able to discuss new Nanoha media or not. And I'll show them this thread so they see what to expect from either.
I have to go get ready for 4th of July so you don't need to answer this, but why does talking about old Nanoha keep someone from talking about new Nanoha as well? Not necessarily at the same time, but in general. Why do people have to make a choice at all?
Owen Anderson
user, it's Bitch-kun. There is no consistency or meaning behind it, he is just angry and hissy like a little brat. Think of his responses of something like Pavlovian reflexes, there is no point in trying to understand the thoughts.
>I have to go get ready for 4th of July Of course it's some fucking normalfag too. I can't even remember the last time it wasn't. As for your question, just look at this thread you dunce. There was plenty of Detonation (as well as S1 and A's) discussion before the fanficfags came and there's almost none after. You think that's a coincidence?
Yes, you are right. People finished talking about Detonation and started talking about something else. You have yet to explain why that is bad without buzzwords like “fanfic” or “OC”.
Julian Rivera
>make=shoot to kill When did Nanoha do that?
Jace Turner
>No smug brown girl I don't like this future. I don't like it at all.
No, people were made to not want to talk about Detonation further. There were attempts to kickstart some more, they're just met with more, non-canon (be happy I choose not to use your trigger word) flood. If it isn't there, as was the case earlier in the thread, people talk about Detonation freely as much as they want. It's beyond me how this still needs explanation.
Basically anytime there was a male villain. Can't think of anytime a guy got befriended.
Adrian Lewis
>There were attempts to kickstart some more And the fact that they didn’t work means people are ready to talk about something else. These threads go on for hundreds of posts, expecting them to only talk about one thing the whole time is dumb.
Noah Bennett
>Not wanting delicious brown girls in Nanoha As expected from a bitch.
How many male villains are there? And how many did Nanoha befriend? Until detonation I can’t think of a single time Nanoha fought one of the male villains.
Evan Perry
Why do you hate Signum so much? Giving her a rival in was the best thing to happen to her Character since A’s, and nothing has been done with her since.
I can't believe how assblasted we all were back then over basic action manga storytelling 101. Given the reactions back then, you'd think the Nanoha fandom wanted the heroes steamroll every bad guy they fight in tensionless conflicts or something.
>story does stupid shit >people get righteously mad at stupid shit >Detonation comes out >"n-no actually it was brilliant i swear!!!1 please don't take my hags away from me!!!" Force is never EVER coming back. Live with it.
Thoma's one side ponytail away from being a girl, that doesn't count.
Alexander Brooks
Yes, I agree, the fact that no one talks about fanficshit until faggots start flooding Detonation threads mean nobody wants anything to do with fanficshit anymore and wants to talk about fucking Detonation.
>story does stupid shit What stupid shit? Having the heroes lose the first time they fight the villain? Like when Nanoha lost to fate? Or when the TSAB lost to the Wolkenritter?
>They I’m the same person in both your quotes, I was being serious when I wondered where that S came from.
Xavier Garcia
If anything, the problem with Force is that it wasn't quite edgy enough. MC should've been a chuuni edgelord girl instead of a vanilla moralfag boy. Having someone that was truly unaffiliated with the main cast would've actually added a lot to the tension and excitement what with them being able to freely switch allegiances depending on their goal. The outsider perspective would also allow the heroes to be shown in a more flawed, even negative light in spite of their good intentions.
Yes, it’s amazing no one starts talking about something until people start talking about something.
Elijah Brown
Fate and the Knights were clearly not evil even from their first appearances. Iris being revealed as the mastermind in Reflection made her into the big bad until Detonation where the story went "lol no, actual big bad is scientist guy"
Adrian Wilson
How nice of you to accept people's feedback about why your fanfic was such shit but you should keep it to your forums. We discuss the canon movies here.
No one wants to talk about Detonation in this thread anymore. If they did, you wouldn’t need to fight so hard to get them to.
Isaiah Sullivan
This summer seems like a good time to catch up, I haven't followed anything Nanoha since the A's movie. I'm also grateful for the links to the series I missed.
Angel Allen
Still has a cooler design, better potential, and a more interesting personality than your literal deviantart/newgrounds donutsteele recolour OC's
Jonathan Hernandez
>specifically about the build up the non-ultimate villains >what are rivals
Leo Mitchell
It's all Nanoha, isn't it? Yet weirdly the only ones that want to talk about fanfics are the same ones that have to force threads into that topic. And everyone else wants to talk about Detonation.
Logan Reed
His barrier jacket was made for a girl, if nothing else.
Hey rude, just because Bitch-kun is autistic doesn't mean the materials aren't fun. They have nothing to do with him okay? I don't want to have to feel associated with him for liking GoD characters.
Easton Kelly
Holy fuck girl Thoma looks fucking good. I will never forgive Tsuzuki for making him a moralfaggy male MC. Fuck was he thinking?
David Taylor
>edgy super swordsman with EDGY EYEPATCH who has an INSATIABLE THIRST FOR BLOOOOOOD AND CARNAGEEEE >"cool" You sound like an actual teenager. Not even trying to insult you here.
And yet, you’re the only one complaining about the direction the thread is going.
Carter Ortiz
Adult Fate needs the black cape, the white looks weird
Zachary Phillips
Not to worry, I'll always stick to release order. Thank you anyway.
William Wilson
>but it's alright when ShitterS is retarded to bring in normalfags
Aaron Stewart
We don't talk about Force
Thomas Baker
Well if we're going by release you should watch Vivid and Vivid Strike before that.
Ian Harris
>the people who forcibly stole the thread to make it a hub for their fanfics aren't complaining about what they themselves did Wow. user, you might just be a genius.
Wyatt Davis
>Fate and the Knights were clearly not evil even from their first appearances. t. has not watched S1 and A's in any way, shape or form and won't even bother to pretend otherwise
Something that's not relevant to the discussion.
Is this why you brought up such an old topic? To go full retard all over it?
Logan Long
It's impossible to not bait him since he's baited by people talking about 80% of the series. What people need to stop doing is REPLYING to him. He replies to every post that replies to him. He's here exclusively for that attention. Quit giving it to him.
We wouldn't if this was a proper Nanoha thread. Sadly, it's been hijacked by fanficshitters who are obsessed with Force and unironically want that shit back, despite there being plenty of reasons it got cancelled to begin with.
Asher Robinson
>your cooking mama fanfics >part of the series Pick one and ONLY one.
>despite there being plenty of reasons it got cancelled to begin with. The artist is notorious for abandoning projects? Because from everything I've read that seems to be the only reason.
Charles Lopez
Force and Reflection/Detonation are fanfic-tier. Everything else is ok >implying Nanoha is not cancelled again after these movies
Blake Morris
So get people, as in more than just you, to start talking about Detonation.
Isaiah Gonzalez
Maybe girls like it on boyas too but I always thought the bare midriff thing was not a good choice. Even the blades and "edgy" look would not rile people up if he was a girl. They could keep these dorky clothes too.
Metalhead, actually, far older than a teen, though there is a lot of overlap to be fair (though ironically I can't see most teens liking the extreme metal bands most metalfags do). It's only natural I gravitate to characters I find to be fucking metal.
Also she's like a gazillion Japanese media rival characters rolled up into one delicious brown package. She's great.
>t. can't into character analysis Yeah let's analyze the characters. >Fate: Attacks an innocent kitty and is very determined to obtain the Jewel Seeds to the point where she'll relentlessly attack Nanoha and show very little pessimism over it >You: "s-she's totally a good p-person, haha" Fucking idiot.
>you're the one who called Fate a villain I said Fate is being portrayed AS IF she was the villain. Of course she's the fucking rival but we don't know that until much later, as it is until much later that we don't know there's someone pulling Fate's strings.
You fucking suck at this.
Brody Lopez
>Kharn What a swell guy. You know, aside from the teamkilling.
Adrian Phillips
Yeah that's the reason, it's not like the same artist started another project soon afterwards that he saw to completion. Retard.
>proper follow-up to A's >fanfic-tier You fucking wish. >implying Nanoha is not cancelled again after these movies You FUCKING wish.
I did. Then you purposefully drove them away because you didn't like that they were talking about Detonation.
Liam Walker
>unironically identifying as a metalhead and using "metal" as an adjective Oh you're just an actual manchild. I'll let you think that's somehow better if you want to.
>Yeah let's analyze the characters. Are you actually retarded? Rival characters do this all the time. Doesn't make them "evil", unless your understanding of good and evil in media is black and white.
>I said Fate is being portrayed AS IF she was the villain. Only someone with surface level understanding of media would think they would spoil the villain in a magical girl series like that.
>You fucking wish. StrikerS was that continuation. There's no law that says they can't also make a prequel to StrikerS or a series in between A's and StrikerS. Hell, they can have a series after A's that's an interdimensional situation where futur/alternate versions of Nanoha show up and they have to team up. Double Starlight Breaker?
>You FUCKING wish. >I didn't see the finale-tier dialogue Nanoha gave as she was mutilated and dying
Elijah Peterson
>This movie WAS Force. A mistake
Ryder Morales
Why are all the male character in this series so useless? This guy was way more experienced than Nanoha yet he spend most the series doing absolutely nothing.
Jace Edwards
Please leave feedback discussion on your OC in the nearest trash bin, thank you.
>true sequel to A's >"A mistake" Why do fanficfags hate A's so much? I've never seen in Nanoha fans that hated A's this much. Wait, could it be that those two groups of people are in fact...!?
>Movies are the new canon. The first two movies were in-universe propaganda films. What are the next two movies canon to? Themselves?
Nolan James
The sequel to A's is StrikerS. The sequel to Movie 2nd is Reflection.
Brayden Allen
Only one that hates A's is you, thinking that a fanfic tier on the level of Force is good enough to be a continuation of A's.
Adam Reed
Why do you think everything since Force has been spinoffs or AUs? Because the main branch is dead until/unless they fix/retcon Force. I'd rather them just forget Force and explore post-StrikerS with a new story. Or a story in between A's and StrikerS
Evan Edwards
give me the fucking .ass
Noah Torres
I would also like the .ass
Nolan Williams
>The sequel to A's is StrikerS. Then why are they two different shows? A sequel should continue the story and themes of its predecessor. ShitterS does none of that and in fact trashes everything to turn Nanoha into capeshit. Ergo, it's not a sequel. Reflection takes the utmost care to properly follow up the events and characters seen in A's. Ergo, it is the true sequel. QED.
>thinking that a fanfic tier on the level of Force is good enough to be a continuation of A's. I'm not though.
Easton Roberts
The movies are both in-universe propaganda and their own universe. The former is shown by the commentary and soundstages from characters from the main universe. The latter is shown by events occurring that never happened in the main timeline happening in other sound stages and manga, like the Prisma Illya and Gears of Destiny Crossovers with movie 1st and 2nd respectively.
Jackson Ramirez
>Then why are they two different shows? Why is Nanoha S1 and A's two different shows? Because they have two different plots and set of characters. Are you retarded? Don't answer that, I know you are.
These two movies don't follow any of the themes of the rest of the franchise.
>The latter is shown by events occurring that never happened in the main timeline happening in other sound stages and manga, like the Prisma Illya and Gears of Destiny Crossovers with movie 1st and 2nd respectively. Can't those things just be like deleted scenes or movie specials?
>muh rival muh rival muh rival Put your fucking brain back on if you're going to continue this joke. Someone watching the series for the first time would have NO reason to believe Fate isn't the main antagonist. Stick your rival shit up your ass, that doesn't become relevant until after the point it doesn't factor in the conversation anymore. >b-b-but they wouldn't reveal the villain that early lmao Irre-fucking-levant.
>StrikerS was that continuation. Also here's my epic fanfic ideas. Said no one but fanfic lovers.
>I didn't see the finale-tier dialogue Nanoha gave as she was mutilated and dying You mean the one where JY Nanoha urges Canon Nanoha that she should continue moving forward, if not for herself then for the sake of the ones that love her? That one? Boy, telling herself to continue, that sure sounds like an ending point.
Jackson Scott
>Then why are they two different shows? By that logic A's is not a sequel to Season 1. >A sequel should continue the story and themes of its predecessor. It does continue the story, it has all the same same characters, even Yuuno and Arf get cameos. And the theme of A's was not the same as the theme of Season 1, but they had the same tone, and Nanoha and Vivio's relationship give that tone to StrikerS.
>Reflection takes the utmost care to properly follow up the events and characters seen in A's. Reflection is a bad retelling of Gears of Destiny, which is the best entry in the franchise. At least by my opinion. And that's all I have, an OPINION. Same as all you have is an OPINION.
Alexander Cox
>Why do you think everything since Force has been spinoffs or AUs? Because the main branch is polluted to the point of being unfixable. Take Force's cock out of your mouth already. >I'd rather them just forget Force They did. You just don't like it because it doesn't have le big tiddies everywhere and actually focuses on being good instead.
>Can't those things just be like deleted scenes or movie specials? The Actual girls from movie 2nd travel to another universe and interact with the Materials, Gears, and Yuri from Gears of Destiny, so no. No they cannot. Because they interact with real people.
Xavier Evans
>Someone watching the series for the first time Retards that don't know basic anime tropes have no right watching Nanoha. Lurk more.
>Also here's my epic fanfic ideas. Like the movies
>You mean the one where JY Nanoha urges Canon Nanoha that she should continue moving forward, if not for herself then for the sake of the ones that love her? That one? Boy, telling herself to continue, that sure sounds like an ending point. Literal fanfic tier ending That's a blatant franchise-ending scene. Like, continue and then happy everyone, then end type of scene
>Take Force's cock out of your mouth already. Haven't read Force and don't plan to. Doesn't mean that the drought of Nanoha content can't be traced back to Force
>They did. Not when they brought Force designs to the movies, cementing them as fanfic tier
>The Actual girls from movie 2nd travel to another universe and interact with the Materials, Gears, and Yuri from Gears of Destiny, so no. No they cannot. Because they interact with real people. How does this affect the movie canon though? Is any of that reflected in Reflection/Detonation? Because the Materials have their own backstory there
Evan Brown
>maybe if i pretend to be retarded and take this clearly metaphorical sentence as literal then i won't have to deal with how stupid my claims are Epic.
>It does continue the story It doesn't. A's is about Nanoha using superior firepower to save people who are being mislead. ShitterS is about some gross hag having to deal with being Superman and telling people superior firepower is bad and wrong and badong and some shitty forced family drama because normalfags eat that shit up like it's piss from an angel.
>Reflection is a bad retelling of Gears of Destiny It gets rid of the time travel. That alone makes this statement objectively incorrect.
>How does this affect the movie canon though? Is any of that reflected in Reflection/Detonation? Because the Materials have their own backstory there Not the same Materials, as they are from a different dimension. And Nanoha and Fate have their memory sealed. So it doesn't affect anything on their end, but the fact that it happened proves that they are real and not just propaganda. But they are that too.
Hunter Stewart
>It gets rid of the time travel. That alone makes this statement objectively incorrect. The Materials, Yuri, Kyrie, and Amita are all better characters in GoD. Characters are more important than Story in Nanoha. So God is better that Reflection/Detonation.
Tyler Moore
That's rich coming from someone that jerks it to recoloured lolis and bitches at anyone for so much as bringing up in passing any installments he doesn't like in a magical girl franchise aimed at otaku. Fucking hell man, do you even have any hobbies or interests outside of Nanoha?
Jonathan Turner
>the whole conversation was about how Fate and the Knights would be perceived by people who did not watch the series >"W-WELL THEY SHOULD HAVE KNOWN ANYWAY LURK MORE" Okay user, you beat me. Here's your degree, you're now officially a rank AAA retard champion. Now get the fuck out of here.
You need a story to have good characters. The Knights are loved by all but without the masterful execution of A's plot they would be nothing.
And a story without time travel > a story with forced time travel. This is one of the immutable laws of storytelling.
Nathan Torres
>Someone watching the series for the first time would have NO reason to believe Fate isn't the main antagonist. Holy fuck man, do you watch ANY other anime or read other manga? Even play any videogames? No one for even a second thought Fate would be the true de-facto antagonist, at least not in the way you're describing. That's like playing Tales of Vesperia and thinking Flynn would be the main antagonist, or playing Street Fighter II under the impression Ken will be the final boss.
Zachary Carter
>The Knights are loved by all but without the masterful execution of A's plot they would be nothing. And now people are starting to dislike them becasue they haven't done anything noteworthy since A's. Except for the people talking about either GoD or Force, two entries in the franchise where they either got to do something, or were being set up to do something before being put on permanent hiatus.
>maybe if I didn't make retarded statements no one would call me out on making a retarded statement Epic.
>bad and wrong and badong Quoting Kung Pow won't help your case. Nanoha still used superior firepower to save the day, but she wants people to know the risks before doing full power because now she knows what doing such things does to your body. You want a retarded Nanoha who doesn't learn from her experiences.
>Not the same Materials, as they are from a different dimension. And Nanoha and Fate have their memory sealed. So it doesn't affect anything on their end, but the fact that it happened proves that they are real and not just propaganda. >But they are that too. That sounds pretty bad
Not my fault newfags are watching shows not meant for them.
Liam Cook
Okay, that was an exaggeration on my part, other people still like them. But there ARE people who are starting to dislike them and that number grows every installment where they are forced to either job or fight weakass bitches. Like in Reflection and Detonation respectively.
>this is totally not hindsight i swear If there's no reason to doubt the antagonist then no one is going to guess there are more antagonists. I mean for crying out loud, that's what got some guy upset about Maxwell. There was no reason to doubt Iris.
Connor Sanders
Maybe standalone but in terms of canon status, how can you fit it in?
Isaiah Scott
Why do you hate Nanoha so much, instead of protecting her from bad actors and saving her from bad habits, such as going on suicidal death marches and losing an arm, because this way you get le big lazors, and you're too much of a shitty normalfag to have it any other way?
John Torres
>i stopped liking signum because she's not punching little girls and killing defenseless old men 24/7 >therefore everyone stopped liking signum No.
This would work if Reflection and Detonation weren't the best pieces of Nanoha media we've gotten since A's. But it is, so it doesn't.
Tyler Russell
You mean Vivid, right?
Ryder Sanders
I'm not sure what you mean. There are 4 timelines
>Triangle Heart >Original Nanoha (S1/A's/StrikerS/StikerS X/ ViVid/ViVid Strike/Force[?]) And movies one and two are also in there, but not as real events, instead they are in-universe movies >Movie Universe (1st/2nd A's/Reflection/Detonation) >Portable (S1/A's/BoA/GoD)
Caleb Ross
>Look what has the thread become. Blame your cohorts for keeping the thread up past its natural lifespan just to fill it with fanfics instead of Detonation discussion.
Owen Hall
>Nanoha still used superior firepower to save the day Yes, exactly, she's a hypocrite. You want a hypocrite Nanoha that does random bullshit for maximum moment-to-moment MELODRAMA and you don't mind because she can shake her tits and you'll forgive her since that's all you care about.
Kevin Lee
No, I don't mean any fanfics. I mean the canon installments and true sequels to A's, Reflection and Detonation.
You mean a suicidal Nanoha who flew to space with little to no hope of returning? Also, I guess accepting the price of taking a risk is the same as taking a risk ignorant of the consequences.
At this point, it makes more sense to split movies 1/2 from the last two. They don't feel like they fit in the same continuity
>No, I don't mean any fanfics. I mean the canon installments and true sequels to A's, Vivid and Vivid Strike Oh, ok.
Michael Powell
"Stopped caring" would be a better phrase. When's the last time anyone has given a shit about Signum? Keep in mind this is a Signumfag asking the question.
Nathan Turner
How are you supposed to like a character who never does ANYTHING? If you ignore StrikerS and Force, that means Signum has accomplished nothing since A's. Becasue the only fights she's won since then that have meant anything are Zest and Cypha.
Brandon Kelly
>she sliced and diced robots like a boss and shot down a meteor but i don't like it because it wasn't edgy enough so it doesn't count You're not Signumfags. You're just fags.
>You mean a suicidal Nanoha who flew to space with little to no hope of returning? Yes, I mean the Nanoha that would go all of the extra miles to help people that are strangers to her, regardless of the risk to her, because she's that committed to not letting others be sad if she can do something about it. The same Nanoha that was there in season 1 and in A's.
THE Nanoha.
>MMA shonenshit fanfic and MMA shonenshit fanfic 2: Electric Ow The Edge-galoo >canon Epic.
Nolan Gutierrez
Okay, but what did they do for her character? Defeating a bunch of personality-less mooks and a force of nature don't mean as much as fighting an actual character unless you're a powerlevelfag. How did Detonation and Reflection affect Signum personally? Was this explored in any way? Did she get the screen time to make it count?
Nicholas Cooper
>Yes, I mean the Nanoha that would go all of the extra miles to help her adopted daughter, regardless of the risk to her, because she's that committed to not letting others be sad if she can do something about it. The same Nanoha that was there in season 1 and in A's.
>THE Nanoha. StrikerS is canon sequel to A's, thanks for proving my point
>Pew Pew Lasers and Edge: the Cute Girl Movies 1 and 2 Epic indeed
>Okay, but what did they do for her character? About as much as punching a scared girl right in the face did. Or how about murdering a suspect for no reason like a maniac?
Oh no wait, Reflection and Detonation didn't take a fucking diarrhea shit on Signum's character so it's not the same. In R+D, Signum focused on being the cool stoic swordswoman that she's supposed to be, while being of invaluable assistance to the main characters. My bad.
>b-but how can i like a character that doesn't go around punching little girls nooo waaah
Okay, so instead of being a multifaceted character with flaws she's now just a one-dimensional badass with no other traits besides being "cool". Gotcha.
>>b-but how can i like a character that doesn't go around punching little girls nooo waaah
Neither Zest nor Cyoha, the two characters I mentioned, are little girls. I don't care what type of character she fights. As long as it is an actual character and not a nameless robot with no impact on her character.
Anthony Lewis
>About as much as punching a scared girl right in the face did. When the fuck did that happen? >Or how about murdering a suspect for no reason like a maniac? Are you talking about Zest? The person who was literally begging to be killed by the blade rather than die from his illness?
Nicholas Jenkins
I wonder which Nanoha you're talking about. There's the one I mentioned, you know the canon one as seen in Reflection and Detonation, and there's the one that hospitalizes her juniors because MELODRAMA and some alleged reasons that conveniently stop bothering her when there's no more MELODRAMA to be had, as seen in such riveting fanfics as Generic Capeshit But Japanese.
Julian Hill
I think he was referring to that time she punched Teana, which made sense in context and fit her character.
Jacob Lee
I'm not talking about the blatantly suicidal one that ended up mutilated and only talked herself out of dying because of a badly scripted introspection lesson. I'm talking about the badass mother who gave all her strength and then some to help her new daughter with her struggle and to bring her back home.
Chase Watson
The "get ahold of yourself man!" slap has been a thing in anime for decades. I know it's been around since at least Mobile Suit Gundam. And it's been around in non-anime for even longer.
Brody Phillips
Yes, instead of being a bipolar, murderous cuntbitch, she's the nice girl that we see she's actually like in A's. Glad you understand.
>I don't care what type of character she fights. Unless you don't like it then everything about them is wrong. We get that already.
Yes I too remember when she went out of her way to murderkill people in A's. Boy that was fun, especially the part where she's like "i don't give a FUCK about hayate's wishes".
>Yes I too remember when she went out of her way to murderkill people in A's. In A's no one was begging her to mercy kill them to preserve their honor as a warrior.
Oliver Phillips
>Unless you don't like it then everything about them is wrong. How did you get "everything is wrong" when what I was saying was "I have some problems with the way Signum has been handled recently?"
Leo Richardson
>which made sense in context and fit her character. Why are ShitterSfaggots such massive liars? It didn't make sense in context. The girl could have been restrained in any number of ways or even flat out ignored. No, we have Signum fucking beat the lights out of her and that's supposed to be celebrated when A's shows her that she isn't like that AT ALL. And it DIDN'T fit her character. The Sound Stages go out of their way to demostrate Vita is the one that does that. For fuck's sake, the exact same situation is in one of the Sound Stages and it's Vita the one that decks the scared trooper. Because she's the impatient one that fucking does that.
Because you keep whining every thread that everything is wrong and your definition of "right" is wildly out of character bullshit. But then, I guess that if you liked the characters for who they really were instead of what ShitterS warped them into then you wouldn't defend ShitterS to begin with.
So? If Caro told Signum she wanted her to rape her ass with a flaming arrow she would be obligated to do it despite better judgement and it not being in her character at all?
Again, you're not Signumfags. And you know what, you're not even fags. You're faggots.
>The girl could have been restrained in any number of ways or even flat out ignored.
Benjamin Morgan
And?
And?
Seriously, and? And? What the fuck does that matter? Holy shit. Killing people with swords also existed for a long time, for even longer than Gundam even. So you're saying if Signum pulled out her sword and beheaded an innocent, nervous girl it would be totally justified.
Thank you for showing you don't understand the basic storytelling tropes of the media you are so deadset on critiquing. Slapping someone does not carry the same sort of weight in anime as it does in the real world. It is just a way to get people to calm the fuck down.
I'm not sure what they were thinking with that twist either.
Jack Gonzalez
>GoD If you're going to complain about how they are in these movies, you should complain about their part in that game much more. Their part in Gears is almost exclusively a generic Dark Fragment hunt outside of sitting in on a few exchanges and plot sequences that almost completely exclude them, except with none of the interesting peeks into their backstories or character development as a result of said Dark Fragment encounters unlike in Battle of Aces, which was a game that was basically entirely about the Knights and their characterization that it feels like everyone constantly ignores. Probably because it was a shitty game to actually play, but notes like Vita absolutely hating Signum before A's as a result of Signum going along most with their constant evil lords of the BoD and coercing her to play along, and almost wanting to outright die more than continue with their plight as the Guardian Knights, are extremely interesting. It's a shame the only Dark Fragment stuff of interest in GoD was done with Precia/Rynith near the very end of the game, despite using them as utter filler fights for random parts of the narrative.
"Hey, you know people are aware of their backstory from Gears already, right? Why don't we go ahead and change it to something they can't see coming because it doesn't line up with anything they said or any of their characterization from Reflection?"
It's a shame, because they had the perfect opportunity to give the Materials a backstory that wasn't as convoluted or silly-sounding (Tome of the Purple Sky? Really?). Yuri certainly got one.
>watching a stream Cease this. You even got spoonfed right in the OP
Asher Rivera
Sorry for the late reply. To continue where we were: And?
And?
Are you going to answer that? And? Nobody's saying Signum should have been court martialed or anything like that like you seem to imply. Rather, the problem is that it doesn't fit Signum's character in ANY way. Yet it's lauded as a "good" "character" "moment" only because it helps paint the franchise in a tone that it really shouldn't have, rather than because it does anything for Signum's character other than cruelly misrepresent it.
Hunter Young
I feel like they came up with it late into the two movies. Iris treats them like ancient lifeforms in Reflection and there's the ominous deep voice. Doesn't make sense if she knew they were her and Iris' cats. The king stuff ends up very forced too.
Dominic Collins
What's the problem? They just wanted to give them a less stupid backstory so they don't have to bring up that tangled mess from Portable and then try to untangle it too.
It's called a twist for a reason. Unless you can find something that's out-and-out inconsistent then there's no problem with it other than you not being a cat person, I guess.
Juan Hall
>Unless you can find something that's out-and-out inconsistent See what said, nothing about how they're presented in Reflection makes any fucking sense with the cat twist.
Levi Robinson
The Materials have amnesia and it's likely that it was induced by Iris for the purposes of controlling them. Remember that one of the milestones in her vengeance against Yuri was to have her kill her own cats. That's why Iris tries to set them up to battle each other.
And the King stuff makes perfect sense, have you never had a cat?
Grayson Turner
...
Angel Scott
Housecats don't have a pack hierarchy within themselves unlike dogs. Why would a "spirit of cats" have some deep demon voice when she summoned it from the books? Why would Iris address Dearche as lord when she was just her stupid pet? Why would Stern have an elemental affinity of fire that Nanoha doesn't have if she only was a cat who copied Nanoha's powers?
Also picture related >reclaim power that you lost >when they had no power in the first place
Ok, so why are a bunch of cats suddenly deep voiced super evil seeming beings that are more capable of repairing ancient Belkan technology better than anyone else in the entire protagonist cast? Hell that happens in DETONATION. Iris misleading them by telling a half-truth about the king thing is okay enough, and I suppose cats being hellbent on chaos and destruction is... a thing. Doesn't explain the further discrepancies mentions though.
Then you have the Reflection manga, where they instantly recognize a mention of the Eternal Crystal, when that makes even less sense. The proper Reflection movie doesn't have this moment and has Iris explaining that they can obtain infinite power from within Yuri's body, which is more reasonable, but the fact remains that this page is canon and makes no sense.
First time I've seen someone admit to liking Force. Glad to know I'm not alone.
Adam Lee
Also, Detonation doesn't even explain how the cats ended up in the book. Yuri told them to hide in the room, then Iris suddenly attacks her, they get outside Yuri crucifies Iris and then disappears next to her with the book. When did she have time to go back and get the cats?
There's a very simple way to fix the Materials plot while keeping them cats. Just have them be Yuri's guardian familiars, let them be some fantasy superpowered cats, kinda like Zafira, who already had some powers and were put into the book because they were damaged before Yuri arrived in Eltria. Then have Yuri summon them during her stay in Eltria so Iris gets to know them.
Parker Taylor
They're just going to ignore everything post StrikerS. Everything from now on is going to be taking place in the same time period as A's. Nanoha is going to be just like DC/Marvel.
Parker Williams
Force is pretty well liked nowadays. The reason everyone hated it before was because the start of it was rocky and releases were insanely slow, so people dropped it before it ever picked up and the payoffs started happening and it began to resemble a normal Nanoha story. Now that people have finally gone back and read it in full, they're sad it never finished.
I love the explanation the wiki has. The wording made me burst out laughing. >After the bite, Yuri tells the cats to hide inside the Book of Darkness. Due to Yuri never releases the cats from the tome, the cats died inside the tome. This is probably the only way you can even rationalize it, since the movie skips over them hiding. So I guess it's possible?
That would have been pretty decent. I do actually like the idea of them being cats that feel so indebted to their owner that saved their lives that they'd do anything for her, my issue with the twist lies in that almost nothing else in Reflection, the manga, or even the same movie lines up with it.
>Housecats don't have a pack hierarchy within themselves unlike dogs. That's true, actually I was about to add that to my post. The thing with that though is that we're never given their full backstory - we just know they were stray cats that got themselves into an accident and then were found, healed and adopted by Yuri and Iris. There's enough wiggle room there that you can excuse that weird bit of un-cat-like behavior. >Why would a "spirit of cats" have some deep demon voice when she summoned it from the books? Because sealing magic. >Why would Iris address Dearche as lord when she was just her stupid pet? Again, Iris was trying to manipulate Dearche and the others. Iris knew what Dearche's personality was like and, again, she likely made her and the others amnesiac on purpose. So she lied out of her ass. >Why would Stern have an elemental affinity of fire that Nanoha doesn't have if she only was a cat who copied Nanoha's powers? I don't remember reading anywhere that animals can't have elemental affinities. >Also picture related More lies from Iris so the Materials go have a punch up with Yuri.
>beings that are more capable of repairing ancient Belkan technology better than anyone else in the entire protagonist cast? Well they were IN the book for 40 years. Weak, I know, but it's the best explanation I can come up with. So there's one kinda-discrepancy so far.
As for the manga, I would consider the movie to supercede it as that was the main product and the manga is supposed to just play support.
It's not AS bad as people say but there are a couple niggles, sure. I think the main takeaway here is that we need a Detonation side manga.
Parker Thomas
Wait why would they be dead. Doesn't the book just put things into eternal stasis? Shit this doesn't make sense either. When Iris summons them they were spirits but then after they expend their energy they turn not into spirits but just into cats again. So are they living cats who got infused with magic powers or dead spirits of cats who got infused with magic powers but turn back into regular living cats when they lose their powers?
Gabriel Powell
>three retards exclaim that they like Force now just to be contrarian as fuck now that Detonation is erasing everything >this means "Force is pretty well liked nowadays" No, you fucking retard. One step outside Yea Forums will show you as much. Nobody fucking likes that garbage no matter how much you pretend otherwise.
The wiki isn't an actual authority and that seems like it's just someone's wild guess on what happened and not something from the theater booklet.
As for the spirit thing, I guess you could say it's something like how Yuri wound up in the crystal and it was a temporary form induced by the power of the Book until they were fully out of stasis? Who knows. I guess that would also explain why they talk all weird when in "spirit" form yet can't talk when they're cats after expending all of their magical energy, the stasis surrounded them in it.
Trying to work around this plot point's a fucking headache.
>I don't remember reading anywhere that animals can't have elemental affinities. You can extend this about everything about their powers. Why does a cat have a device named Luciferion? Did she come up with it right then and there? Why is her beam called Disaster Heat instead of just Divine Buster if all her powers are copied from Nanoha instead of being a fusion with her previous powers? Levi's Vulnificus wasn't namedropped but she still called it Braver instead of Zanber. Everything about their battle moves hints towards them having had powers before.
Brayden Howard
The wiki has been sourcing information from the official Detonation guidebook. I know because they were the first English place I saw that mentioned that Nanoha's new arm is robotic, which was eventually confirmed when more people got to read the book. So if the wiki says that what happened is that the cats hid in the BoD then it's probably true.
The part where they die is probably true too and not just a mess-up by whoever wrote that bit since obviously they're an ESL. So they hide in the book, they die for some reason, and then they turn into bodyless spirits roaming aimlessly inside.
Makes sense to me.
Jeremiah Garcia
I really hope we eventually get full translations of the Reflection and Detonation theater book shit, apparently a ton of important information was only ever stated in those. I'm not sure if what's in the BD booklets is in the same thing or not. I know there was mentions about the specifics of the downsides of the Knights' experimental EM equipment like how Signum's sword couldn't properly transform since it was in testing, plus the arm thing that was completely omitted from the movie. I'm sure that several things would suddenly line up if that information was simply out there.
Matthew Morgan
>they die for some reason >then they turn into bodyless spirits Here are the two problems. There's nothing that establishes the books kill things inside it. The knights are fine but they are constructs so you may count them out. In A's Reinforce makes a point of having Hayate and Fate sleep inside it for eternity, not killing them. Yuri is just fine being inside it. But the cats just die for some reason? Secondly, if they are formless spirits, why do they regain their living cat bodies when they use up their energy? Yuri even explicitly states the book cannot revive the dead.
Elijah Lopez
The subs certainly make it more watchable but the movie is still shit.
Hudson Martin
I imagine the devices and stuff was all made by Iris at some point after the first battle off screen to give to the Materials. And then she programmed battle instructions based on those of Nanoha and co because why the hell not, she already programmed bodies for them.
Now why would Iris go out of her way to come up with chuuni new names for everything, I guess we'll never know.
Nathan Brooks
The movie is awesome, pleb.
Justin Thompson
So, rewatching end of Refl. to refamiliarize myself with thsi before the Deton. Yuuno's voice is cool, that actress has nice abilities. There really should be more adult Vivio, high-pitched kiddo Vivio is not the right use of this woman.
They didn't die, that's just an ESLism. Instead they went into a deep slumber. And the reason they have spirit bodies at the start is also because of Iris, to stop them from realizing who they were too early. Surely she doesn't need anyone's data to dispel their normal bodies and turn them into colored flames.
Jesus this managed to be even worse than Reflection. Levi is the only good thing about them.
Juan Ward
Hmm, Iris was really the best written part of Reflection. I like how she mixes sorrowful lines that clearly show she does care about stuff and is not cold villiand doing evil for lulz. When she does that clichy demotivational speech thing to Kyrie, there are bits that fell less like a psychic attacks and more like a sad personal experience speaking. I think that is my favourite part so far.
Dunno if bitch did this to me or if it is a real thing, but Nanoha kind of feels too forced/overdone, like a caricature (like FFS, make a Jesus out of her already) at the end of Reflection.
But Kyrie/Iris are done right and totally let you identify/root for them.
Xavier Sullivan
Reflection was way better than Detonation in hindsight even though Detonation had the better animation. There's not as much rush and the scenes have a lot of time to breathe.
Josiah Reed
I know what you mean, there's not enough buildup to her in Reflection. Nanoha is pretty well done in Detonation though, although the rest of the movie doesn't do that well in my opinion.
Wyatt Morris
Nanoha is the knight in shining armor for all of those who are crying, or at least that's what she wants to make herself.
Her mentality at that point in time is extremely fucked. There's a reason Arisa is extremely worried whenever she speaks with Nanoha after Kyrie beats everyone up and Nanoha wasn't able to do anything about it. She was frustrated beyond belief and blamed herself. So she resolved to try even harder no matter what harm came to her and pushed herself to work with the Formula equipment despite the risks.
>Nanoha is pretty well done in Detonation though As good as that last scene was, it felt completely shoehorned and came out of nowhere. Its like they remembered at the last second that they forgot to give her a character arc three movies ago.
Jacob Wood
>it helps paint the franchise in a tone that it really shouldn't have Which is?
Angel Hill
>Belkanese! Was that german? It sounded moe but fuck if I can tell the words.
Sounds terrible. I was under the impression from Reflection that the Materials were ancient warriors who were given the templates of the main 3 to make new bodies from. The whole cat thing makes no sense, as they know how to fight and use magic from where?
Ryan Bailey
Ah, it was. >Rüstung formatieren (Formatierung?)
Ayden Brooks
>Nanoha is going to be just like DC/Marvel. So, shit?
Parker Barnes
>Belkanese That was silly. Why not just Belkan? You don't say germanese either.
The moment Nanoha has in Detonation requires you to have paid attention to Nanoha's character throughout everything. It's not the best that several key factors for it are only in the A's and Reflection manga as well as the original TV seasons rather than the movies (Which Reflection and Detonation are meant to follow, considering they mention things that only happened in the movie continuity, despite the 1st and 2nd moves... also being a condensed re-enactment done by actors, who fucking knows at this point).
Nanoha is a lonely girl at heart who feels out of place and useless in her own home. She pushes herself to extreme lengths to make something of herself and use the own life of hers which she has almost no regard for to save others. Frustration builds up within her heart when she's not capable of saving someone, and she uses it as fuel for her actions and training. It's not healthy, and both timelines have her suffering for it.
Nolan Wilson
That's a Ron-ism, Hayate literally says "The Belka language?!"
Luke Hall
force is bad. and yet still better than vivid strike.
Angel Nelson
I call it, "le edgy mature Avengers war story" S1, A's and R+D, while dipping in darkness every now and then, are far more optimistic.
Asher Sanders
And you people worship him.
Brayden Harris
I am aware that her feelings of inadequacy and lack of self worth have been part of her character since S1.
>It's not the best that several key factors for it are only in the A's and Reflection manga as well as the original TV seasons rather than the movies To me this is not a minor issue. It is a huge problem. My love for the franchise should not have to compensate for the lack of writing in the movies.
Julian Bell
>as they know how to fight and use magic from where? Most likely Iris. She gave them bodies, I don't see why she couldn't program them to know some stuff about fighting.
>R+D >optimistic >while mutilating its main character
Andrew Howard
Let's be fair, with a series continuation, you will always be expected to have some sort of familiarity with its predecessors. If you come in thinking this is going to be babby's first Nanoha then there's a LOT you're going to miss, not only the culmination of Nanoha's character development since S1.
Why would she? It would just be easier to have straight copies of the 3 girls with enhancements. It makes no sense to give them untested skills/limited programming
Josiah Flores
Yeah. S1 had actual child abuse and it was overall optimistic in tone too.
Parker Clark
Actually, just leaving it at "belka!?" would be better translation, "The Belka language?!" may be literal but it is an awful translation. I assume he added the suffix to differentiate the language from the people.
They were never meant to be a huge part of her plan in the first place. They existed to serve as a distraction while Iris and Kyrie infiltrated Allston Sea, and to be thrown at Yuri to be killed by her to mentally torture her as part of Iris's revenge.
Brandon Martinez
They needed to be strong enough to serve as distractions though. If they were defeated by Nanoha and co. early on, what purpose would they have served? Quite possibly if they weren't so weakened, Nanoha and co. could have won the first confrontation with Iris.
Anthony Allen
Which is stupid because we refer to people and languages with the same world in the real world too. The English language. The English people. The German language. The German people. The Italian language. The Italian people. Etc. He should have had it as "Is that Belkan!?"
Ryan Anderson
Culmination requires buildup, not something that shows up literally at the 11th hr.
Dominic Mitchell
>Actually, just leaving it at "belka!?" would be better translation, "The Belka language?!" may be literal but it is an awful translation. What language are you speaking where that would sound better? If anything, you could twist it slightly to "The Belkan language" to make it sound more proper in English speech, but shortening it to just the name of the fucking country is abysmal. I understand Ron's decision in trying to make it sound like a language's name, but it sounded absurd and isn't the official title of the language either, so it's a stretch as well.
Jordan King
That's exactly what I had in mind. I bet Phil was going to sell his military research to Ver.
Aiden Stewart
>with a series continuation, you will always be expected to have some sort of familiarity with its predecessors. I agree but detonation is the fourth movie, they had more than enough time to properly set up shit.
Robert Smith
>Culmination requires buildup This stuff was first brought up in 2004 And early last year if you were reading the manga, which also brings it up likely as a reminder
William King
There's the manga.
But see, this is the reason why we need a TV adaptation of Reflection and Detonation.
Austin Jenkins
-ese is equally valid, autist. Japenese, Chinese, Javanese. Belka is fictional so there is not normative word.
The only "norm" could be previous seasons like Vivid using "belka" when talking about the language. That's possible (can't recall now what Ron used) but honestly this is nothing to hurf a durf about, unless you are a bitchkun.
Ryder Perez
Supplementary material is there to supplement, not to explore crucial plot points/character arcs. And StrikerS already had Nanoha go through development, if these movies wanted to develop Nanoha again they should at least top StrikerS.
Only if they massively rewrite the plot and trim character bloat
Dominic Allen
I'm not saying it's not valid, my little retard. I'm saying that IF what user said truly was ron's rationale then he's a bigger faggot than I thought.
Caleb Price
>This stuff was first brought up in 2004 And was properly culminated in 2007. That has nothing to do with the movies.
Henry Brown
Belka is not-Germany, down to the language they use for it in the movie.
You don't say Germanese, you say German.
It's an extreme nitpick and I don't mean any insult to Ron while discussing this as I understand his decision completely, just it sounds really funny.
Chase Jones
ShitterS isn't canon. Wake up already.
Dominic Flores
Also, it's better if there is the adjective suffix so that people can tell the meaning is language and not nationality. So even if just belka was used before, "belkan" or "belkanese" is a better choice.
Colton Russell
Deshitnation is even less canon
Owen Carter
Reflection/Detonation do not lead into StrikerS, they're a new continuity branch. So they had to have their own culmination of it all, and did. Nothing is wrong with that.
Lincoln Fisher
>You don't say Germanese, you say German. Retard. The word is Belka, not Germany, so this is about the most dumb argumetn you could put forth.
Colton Bailey
Neither is S1 then, which makes detonation even worse.
Noah Richardson
They might have been defeated too early, actually. Not that it mattered much, since Chrono's ambush would have screwed everyone anyway.
Bentley Hughes
They don't have to culminate into anything if they have more plans for Nanoha in that continuity. After all, character growth can be slow yet steady. Unless this was their swan song
Jordan Russell
Look how fucked all 3 girls were after their fights. Imagine if they were closer to peak strength, how much more they could've done to solve the situation. At the very least they could have put more pressure on Iris and weakened her position even more.
Kayden Morgan
Well, retard was too strong, sorry (Bitchkun residency really makes one rude). I agree belkanese sounds a bit funny and belkan was better, but hey. I just think he had complete freedom how to adjectivise it. He could have picked belkish, belkian, belkard and apart form being lulzy all would be valid.
Dominic Green
Is that the best you can come up with? Come on.
S1 -> A's until epilogue -> Movie 2nd epilogue -> Reflection -> Detonation
They show everyone graduating at the end of Detonation. If they continue things, it will be with a slightly older cast. We will probably see more and more of Nanoha's gradual change of heart that turns her into the adult that she is in the main continuity.
>they're a new continuity branch. No they’re not, they are in-universe movies filmed around the Force era.
Carter Bennett
Why would they do that again when they know no one likes shithead non-canon Nanoha? They have new Nanoha and they have the ability to make new Nanoha actually act like canon Nanoha does.
You people are going to have a serious aneurysm when you finally update your Nanoha info database last touched in 2012.
Charles Walker
Reflection and Detonation aren't, as those events never happened to be retold. Yet they follow some bizarre combination of events from the Movies and TV series, because Reflection makes callbacks to things that only happened in the Movie 1st, but also makes a callback to something that, to my recollection, only came up in TV A's. I believe interviews have directly said that Reflection and Detonation are meant to be sequels to the movies, too.
Brandon Martin
>until epilogue You don't get to pick, the epilogue is part of As. Also I like people like my screenshot of Lindy.
Though I thought Bitch hated "hags" (that faggot).
From what I've seen, Belkan seems to be the standard.
>Is that the best you can come up with? Come on. >ShitterS hardly creative
also S1 -> A's -> StrikerS Movie 1 -> Movie 2 -> R&D
Noah Johnson
With the way Detonation ended, it really seemed like closure. I have a feeling we're going to have a Nanoha drough again, although honestly with how these movies went, I'd rather them take time and make something good again, like the TV series era, with the old school art style, than pump out more subpar Nanoha movies.
Henry Mitchell
Reflection has the Vivid Strike characters advertise it as an in universe movie as well as being part of the commentary track for the movie. So the same can be assumed for Detonation.
Leo Adams
You're not the boss of me. I'm going to count that amalgamation of the two A's versions as canon and you can't stop me. Also, unlike the majority, Lindy is a non-shitty hag. No one has a problem with her.
Non-canon commentary shittery starring fan characters doesn't count.
John Lopez
>I believe interviews have directly said that Reflection and Detonation are meant to be sequels to the movies, too. So in-universe Nanoha cashgrab movies to recruit more people to the TSAB
Ryan Collins
Okay let's break this down. >Movie 1st and 2nd are presented as being filmed on a set by actors in the continuity of the TV series, as that's what official art and the drama CDs imply >But the Movie 1st commentary has the characters making specific comments about the TV series itself being fictional. The Movie 2nd commentary doesn't do this, but instead has Nanoha mention that attacks from Reinforce that play out in the movie but not in the TV series are what she actually experienced, yet Chrono talks about how the movie is leaving out the real events of what lead up to everything and that you can check out the public Midchilda archives on the TSAB for details on the cats' interference. >Apparently, Reflection and Detonation are in-universe movies too, but are completely bullshit stories that never happened rather than retellings for some reason. >Interviews say that the movies are actually their own continuity. What the fuck is going on.
Ryder Moore
>because Reflection makes callbacks to things that only happened in the Movie 1st What do you mean?
Henry Jones
Clarifying you are referring to the language makes for a stiff translation. It doesn't sound natural since that kind of thing is usually left to context. You say "she is speaking german", not "she is speaking the german language".
Carter Howard
Canon Nanoha wouldn't have let her arm be blown off
Landon Rogers
Rolls off the tongue better. I'm also quite partial to StinkerS, maybe you like that one better.
also S1 -> A's until epilogue -> Movie 2nd epilogue -> Reflection -> Detonation
Ryan Russell
Your fanfic movies are not canon, deal with it
Robert Moore
No, she 100% would have, if she thought that was the only way to help others.
The mock battle in Reflection takes place in a holodeck replication of where Nanoha and Fate had their final showdown in the Movie 1st, a flooded city. In the first season, they fought over a normal body of water.
>You're not the boss of me. You don' get it I guess. >I'm going to count that amalgamation of the two A's versions as canon and you can't stop me. You are not the boss of the canon, that is the point, bitchy.
But feel free to have your own headcanon, fanficlover.
Daniel Brooks
No, she would have blasted her enough times like she did Vivio to ensure nothing was left
Jace Martinez
The first two seasons and R+D are the only canon, get over it
Jack Adams
Thanks so much Ron. You did a great job with the movie. These newfags who can't report or quit replying to a psychotic bitch don't deserve a hero like you either. I'm actually glad that you quit doing extras after Strike since I've seen bitch-kun throw a bunch of tantrums over that exact fact. You do more than enough.
You're not a real Nanoha fan if you keep denying her character growth and happiness. Canon is all the TV series.
Liam Collins
That one is easily explained as an in universe reference to the first movie if they are all just movies within the world.
Juan Rogers
I completely forgot that mock battle happened. I really wanted to erase those awful outfits from my memory.
Justin Bailey
That can just be porting over the design at the creator's level, like the use of Force weapons. That TSAB uses that setting doesn't mean that Movie 1st had to exist in the same continuity.
Samuel Russell
It's easy. >they want to make movies out of the first two seasons to appeal to the original Nanoha fans, who they callously abandoned with ShitterS, Shitid and EDGE >since there's no way they'd be able to tell the whole story properly within the runtime of a movie, they go with "hurr they're in-universe movies lmao" >at around the time of Movie 2nd, they reveal that all these alternate continuities are actually all alternate continuities >then Nanoha petered off and died >now they're making use of the fact the movies were established as an alternate canon to make it the new main canon and relaunch Nanoha after it turned out that telling your true fans to fuck off doesn't pay the bills in the long term
Logan Sullivan
ShitterS isn't canon. Accept it.
Samuel Cox
The canon new adventures of Nanoha aren't a fanfic, you silly.
You've yet to explain why, if the Original Continuity was such a failure, they kept Publishing ViVid until about half a year ago, after the release of Reflection, and only ended it when the story finished.
Gavin Lee
>shitty melodramatic hypocrite whose values are exactly the inverse that of True Nanoha's >character """growth""" ebin
>Shitid >story That garbage pile could have ended at literally any point and its """story""" would be """finished""" The only reason they kept that going was to not appear dead before the big Nanoha restart. As soon as that got going they dropped Shitid like it was poison.
Jayden Clark
Don't mind me, I only came here to laugh at how that one Lord of Autismus is still around.
Aaron Johnson
They kept it going for months after Reflection came out, you are provably wrong.
Henry Gomez
There's an easier way to make retcons/remakes without having to justify it via in universe prop movies. >real fans >not supporting the whole franchise pick one
Brody Jenkins
Deshitnation isn't canon. Accept it.
>Being responsible and mature = hypocrite >Being suicidal and getting mutilated = ok nu-Nanohafags, everyone
Daniel Cox
I just want to be able to talk about any entry in the franchise when a Nanoha thread happens, why do we have to pick sides?
So do I but one insufferable faggot ruins it for everyone.
Kayden Peterson
Because people reply to the shitspammer instead of reporting him. There are no real sides. It's just people with opinions versus one insane retard who has even admitted that he spent time in a mental hospital.
Oliver Moore
Just do it and ignore the retard.
Levi Cruz
At this point some fags are deliberately trying to rile him into shitposting more. Report them all.
Kevin Sanchez
Yeah, a couple months. Don't overstate it.
Wyatt Murphy
>Tsuzuki makes a new installment where Nanoha gets raped and dies >you now have to support it or you're not a "real fan" Sterling logic.
>being bland notSuperman = good >being interesting character = bad Apparently because being an interesting mom is bad for you.
Mutilating its MC and shoving poorly thought out character development is not restoring anyone's dignity
Jacob Rivera
There’s a Nanoha/Symphogear thread which has far more peaceful Nanoha talk
Charles Hill
You play the victim but you're not considerate at all of the people that simply want to talk about the new canon installments of the franchise. Let's not forget, this is specifically a Detonation thread.
>StikerS: April 1, 2007 >Reflection: July 22, 2017 Look, there are a lot of things you can call StrikerS fans, but Nu isn't one of them. They've been here a decade longer than Reflection has.
I've actually reported posts of his in past thread Even with people reporting him and mods deleting his posts, he still comes back though. Is there way to permaban him?
Joshua Jones
There's nothing interesting about shitty melodramatic hypocrites. If she wasn't a shitty boring mom, you'd agree. But you only care about her tits, not the quality of the franchise.
>Mutilating its MC and shoving poorly thought out character development is not restoring anyone's dignity Better than selling out the franchise to normalfags and then turning it into MMA shonenshit and then MMA shonenshit but really edgy.
>Is there way to permaban him? No, he ban dodges so even when mods ban him he's back in ~15 minutes.
Mason Torres
If you weren't nu, you'd accept Nanoha as she originally was. Instead of some pale hypocrite mockery of her.
Henry Young
Reminder that Bitch-kun came into the series from Vivid Strike!
Joseph Watson
I do. And I also accept her as she is as an adult. I accept all Nanohas.
Cooper Reed
What a nufag
Austin Williams
>But you only care about her tits, Wrong faggot. I care about her zenryoku zenkai, and her finisher in StrikerS is all that. You also can't into character development
>Mutilating its MC and shoving poorly thought out character development is better than letting a character mature and become a fulfilled human being via having self-worth and being a mother nu-Nanohafags
Carter Harris
I remember the first VS threads were fun, and then all of a sudden there was this autist that made all future Nanoha threads insufferable
Adrian Walker
And not even the first episode, he came with the 4th ep's webm that drew all sorts of at-best secondaries. And decided that from now on, he will make his life'S purpose to roleplay as a Nanoha oldfag that and TRUE fan. Well, I guess the good thing is that he isn't setting up some crazy shitty sect with him as the god incarnate instead, IRL.
David Gomez
>I care about her zenryoku zenkai So you defend her when she spends an entire season going "hurr zenryoku zenkai bad mmkay?" only to then go "well i guess i'll fucking zenryoku zenkai now lmao". As opposed to the likes of A's and R+D where she's all about the zenryoku zenkai and never holds it back. You're not making a strong case you don't just care about her tits. >letting her come to the realization that she might not love herself after getting her arm blown off in a big incident is worse than forcing her into a 180 almost off-screen and forcing her to be a boring mom for no actual benefit nu-Nanohafags
Jaxon Watson
>I do. >And I also accept her as she is as an adult. That's like saying "I like blue, especially when it's red" You either appreciate Nanoha or you don't. And I don't think you do.
Leo Myers
I'd rather he was, and that it end with him and his follows all offing themselves.
Thomas Foster
What is Miura currently doing with her life?
Kevin Bennett
The fact that you can only accept one interpretation of Nanoha shows how little you actually care about her.
>So you defend her when she spends an entire season going "hurr zenryoku zenkai bad mmkay?" I defend her when she lectures her students on the appropriate usage of ZZ. Notice that she's been hurting herself because of her lack of self-preservation due to her lack of self-esteem. She learned to love herself and isn't reckless with her life yet knows when she must take a risk it is precisely because she loves herself and loves other that she will take that risk and yet not allow herself to die. You don't understand character growth and would rather see Nanoha literally kill herself every time instead of her knowing when to risk it and knowing what the risks are
>nu-Nanohafags
Jaxon Johnson
Being a shitty OC no one cares about and languishing in non-canon purgatory for the rest of eternity.
IIRC somebody stated earlier that it says she competes in U19 (basically like before but older girls), but doesn't have a rank yet. I told you all before, there is no logic or consistency in that faggot. He has very little motivation or reasoning for his shit beside being an angry pedo.
Jaxson Sullivan
>the fact you don't like when Nanoha is not Nanoha shows how little you actually care about Nanoha A lot of people would have the opposite opinion if you presented them with this. But then, I'm talking to someone who prefers when Nanoha is not Nanoha and Nanoha is instead a hypocrite.
Keep hoping because that's literally never going to happen. We entered a new world, one where Nanoha is not shit.
Ayden Martinez
They should have a prequel to StrikerS first, I want to see them flesh out the whole incident they mention
Isaiah Barnes
In other words, you defend her when she's some shitty mom instead of, you know, Nanoha. You never liked her character and would rather her be some generic mentor type rather than the inspiring girl she was back in S1 and A's, and gets to be once again in R+D.
Jeremiah Parker
How can they make a prequel to ShitterS if Nanoha didn't have a robo arm in ShitterS? Checkmate. New continuity free of the shackles of the past is a go.
Ian Parker
I bet you're one of those faggots that think 40's Superman is the only Superman.
Adrian Butler
You're funny. Yeah they should. It would be nice to see everything that leads up to that.
>In other words, you defend her when she's some shitty mutilated girl instead of, you know, Nanoha. You never liked her character and would rather her be some generic suicidal maniac rather than the inspiring girl she was back in S1 and A's and StrikerS, full of self-love and dignity
I do, which is why I reject this pale imitation of Nanoha from R&D
R&D is not canon, it's not hard to go back to Movie 2nd and make a bridge to StrikerS from there.
How big is the timegap between A's and StrikerS? like 10-15 years? They can definitely add at least 2 seasons worth of material in between.
>How big is the timegap between A's and StrikerS? Around seven to nine years, I think. That's still plenty of time to fill in there.
Asher Murphy
I can't believe he was right and Vivid content did ruin the franchise, by way of his own self-fulfilling and created prophecy.
Seriously though, don't reply to him, don't mention him, don't give him attention. Report, leave it alone, if he gives you a (You) don't feed the cuckoo. So many people here seem to have had his presence drive them crazy and make them lash out at others, when all you had to do the entire time was ignore him. Even if he doesn't go away, filtering him out is simple. We've managed to have all sorts of decent discussion with his retarded presence, and Ron is still around making translations. We're still going good.
>I want to see them flesh out the whole incident they mention I thought that WAS Detonation, what with Nanoha getting horribly mutilated in it.
Charles Flores
>melodrama and hypocrisy >"dignity" Whew. If being a total bitch whose mantra is "do as I say, not as I do" is dignified to you then that explains a few things.
True Nanoha is dignified. Self-assured, confident, she might be suicidal but she never has anything but the best intentions in her heart. True Nanoha wouldn't shoot someone in the back and hospitalize them just because they tried to be like her.
The incident in StrikerS was caused by one of Doctor Spaghetti's robots getting the upper hand on her due to her mental and physical strain coming to a peak post-A's.
Well it's been a while since I've seen A's and Strikers. I guess I forgot that. So ten years it is then.
Christopher Diaz
Which is why Detonation is superior and canon.
Dominic Murphy
>We're still going good You're right. We're all still alive.
JK Nanoha when
They can also make a prequel about Ancient Belka, or about the Knights and their various stories pre-Nanoha
Easton Phillips
No, they are much better in my book too, materials are rather formulaic - there is the muh-coolevil edgy recolor ancestry and so on Kyrie/Amitie, Iris and Yuri are where it's at
Dylan Cox
I really wish Iris had gotten more proper time and development during Detonation. She was insanely well written and built up in Reflection and the manga, and then Detonation's twist combined with its short runtime made her character do a 180 nearly instantly. Yes, her finally breaking mentally was definitely coming, but the way it happened was poorly executed. We didn't even get to see the full Kyrie VS Iris fight despite that being a huge deal.
Lincoln Mitchell
They have really strong distinct and proactive personalities and I could see them carrying a spinoff on their own. Not to mention their amazing voice acting. I wanna see more of them, hopefully they don't get benched forever now that they got their time in the spotlight.
I wonder if the girls and Iris were the real favorite characters of the staff/writers and materials were added because "geh the fans really want them"
Nicholas Miller
>We didn't even get to see the full Kyrie VS Iris fight despite that being a huge deal. I'm still mad about that. They showed Kyrie's determination and then just skipped the fucking battle. At least we got this well animated sequence.
I doubt it. We knew the third movie would be called Reflection very soon after the A's movie and it couldn't really be anything other than the Materials. Not sure what their plot was supposed to be before it went into development hell though.
Alexander Lopez
Doesn’t explain the weird cat twist though. If the writers were lazy about the Materials then why not just use their original backstory?
Jonathan Thomas
GoD didn't explain their or Yuri's origins either though.
Jonathan Green
Prequels like that are awful because there's nothing new about the characters that they can reveal and we already know how the characters are going to end up and when.
Carter Wood
that scene was kino as fuck, they really should have used less meh animated fighting scene and give more sakuga instead.
David Wood
Unless I’m misremembering but didn’t Battle of Aces explain what the Materials were already?
Hudson Brown
>I doubt it. We knew the third movie would be called Reflection very soon after the A's movie and it couldn't really be anything other than the Materials. Maybe to you but that is rather silly explanation IMHO.
I was pretty sure it was meant to mean self-reflection of somebody, in mental sense. And it probably still means.
Cameron Phillips
Their original backstory was the dark piece incident and that couldn't have been used. So they came up with something in lieu of that.
Camden Clark
Levi Stern and Dearche weren't actually the same as the other dark pieces though. BoA was kind of a red herring.
Chase Sanchez
>We knew the third movie would be called Reflection very soon after the A's movie and it couldn't really be anything other than the Materials. Ah, I still remember having to tell people they're retarded because they kept saying that just because the new movie is called Reflection that doesn't mean it's going to be about the Materials.
I wish I could have seen their faces when the obvious truth was revealed.
Ryder Russell
I disagree. They can use it to fill more details about Belka and also explore other facets of their personalities, also give them more fights. One of the few good things Detonation did was give the Knights fighting roles, even if they were small. But I want Signum to go all out
Xavier Hernandez
>Not sure what their plot was supposed to be before it went into development hell though. It didn't truly go into development hell, they were waiting for the character designer to get his ass back into working on the series, but he was never free, for years. So they had to go ahead without him and the films were actually made in a rush as a result.
Isaiah Scott
>It didn't truly go into development hell >its developed just stalled due to circumstances beyond the creators' control Yeah that's what we in the business call "development hell", user.
Joseph Rivera
What the fuck are you talking about? Yuri was once a singular being that made up the system made to corrupt the Tome of the Night Sky, System U-D. She was absolute overkill though, so she was sealed deep in the tome and they made Nachtwal instead. The Materials are broken off pieces of Yuri's original existence that came into contact with other data in the book and took on attributes of it.
Jaxson Brooks
On it's own you might have been right but it was very close to GoD and the Materials gained a lot of sudden popularity, which they doubled down on with Innocent so it seemed like a given.
James Butler
>So they had to go ahead without him and the films were actually made in a rush as a result. Why did they have to rush though? They should've just make one movie with the Materials and another movie with the sisters, but later on, not have them be interconnected.
Brayden Green
There's literally nothing interesting they could say about Belka. It was fucking destroyed, m8. Even if it showed they invented frigging Symphogears it wouldn't matter because there's almost nothing left anyway, and what little IS left would have to be handled by the "main" series.
It's just pointless all around.
Julian Wilson
Jesus Christ what was he doing in the VS threads if that show didn’t involve Nanoha at all
Kevin Sanchez
Did you made that up? I don't remember any of that shit, only that there was another book inside the book of night sky.
Chase Phillips
Development hell implies the movies were being worked on that entire time, when they weren't.
Jaxon Lee
>Even if it showed they invented frigging Symphogears I want to see the timeline where this ends up happening
Joshua Reyes
No it doesn't.
Hudson Campbell
See Emphasis on > that is rather silly explanation
The recolor meaning is at best secondary, a word play. And word play implies there is a different, primary meaning
Also, you are still a sad retard, bitch-kun, don't fancy your chances too much.
Nathan Young
Sure there is. Vivid had Belkan history as well. It seemed that Belka went through several phases and they can easily explore one or several of them, not to mention that they can explore other planets as well. I doubt the book stayed only in Belka. And who wouldn't want to see the Knights do cool shit?
Boggles the mind. No one knows
Benjamin Ward
Go read Gears of Destiny again. The Materials have a big exposition dump about it midway through.
It's literally "Reflection", the word for the image you see when you look at a mirror. I think I've said this before but fuck it I'll say it again. You'd have to have some big biases to think it didn't refer to the literal reflections of the main trio - the Materials, who were quite relevant at the time the movie was first announced and never stopped being popular since then.
And I've predicted more than just that, user.
John Cruz
Shitid was shit so that's a terrible example. Plus it was just as pointless and stupid there too.
>And who wouldn't want to see the Knights do cool shit? The Signum ""fans"" in these threads. You saw their reactions to the cool shit Signum does in the movies.
Jaxon Thompson
Everything regarding the Materials in Battle of Aces was completely wrong, including how they acted in that game. They show up in Gears and immediately say "oh haha we were in a weird state forget all about that". It's a hilarious retcon but lead to some of the most entertaining characters in the series, so whatever.
>cool shit Signum does in the movies. Ah yes jobbing harder than her Force counterpart and defeating literal who’s. Truly the peak of Signum’s character.
Eli Green
still retarded
Angel Jenkins
materials are copies/clones, not mirror images, dummy
Joseph Price
Exactly. She shot down a meteor but that's not enough to these people. And then I'm the one that hates Signum.
Charles Hughes
Signum fans are fucking impossible to please and always have been, what else is new?
Noah Sanders
Nice samefagging, Bitch-kun.
Ryder Wood
>what is sarcasm?
Jackson Jones
Honestly, it was news to me when I first started noticing it. It's still kind of weird to me. They definitely have good taste so I don't know why they act like faggots.
Something you're not very good at if that's what you intended.
Jason Barnes
>Bitch-kun doesn’t get sarcasm Not exactly how I imagined this thread would die on but pretty amusing
Josiah Gray
Well, he isn't exactly a bright mind, based on some trolls I baited him on to. He usually goes into a trap you set up dead on. But then he just perseveres in his usual bending-of-words so you don't really "win" because he will still keep ranting as usual no matter what. But it shows he's kinda slow.
