Well, in snk you can literally obtain who ever power of the 9 titans you want, but if you suck you will alwais lose (for this reason eren used to get his ass kicked like 80%of the times before the timeskip.....and even now he still need to be helped since he can't still defeath stronger and numerous enemies alone).

Genes have no correlation with power in one piece, if that was the case then Luffy would be son of Roger. Also we don't really know how powerful is Dragon, he might be the most wanted man in the world, but it's because of his status as leader of the revolutionary army, not because his display of raw power.

Also, more times than not Gon get a lot of shit for not being as good as Gin.

Ichigo was confirmed to be special in chapter 1 and he only ever trained out of obligation with questionable results, the biggest power growths always happened during a battle because of the added sense of emergency, even Ginjo exploited this
