Black Clover is a horrible, bland, cookie cutter shonen anime that is absolutely predictable. The thing that really hits a nerve with me is that BC’s MC gets his abilities through trying to force it to happen, and it magically does because plot reasons. Seriously, I couldn’t even get through the first 6 episodes without cringing. Tbh I honestly don’t remember what happened, it was that bad too me.
While BNHA’s MC gets it by earning it through showing he has what it takes to take All Might’s place. MC didn’t ask for that power, or even demand to happen because he felt entitled because 80% of the world has one. He accepted he didn’t have powers, but that didn’t stop him from being a hero; powers or no powers. You watch him learn and grow with the power he’s given, and how to be a better person.
But these are just my opinions, take it as you will.
The point is that they're just as damn broken regardless of the drawbacks. They both have worked around their Achilles heels. So, to criticize one is to criticize them both.
