the bits that hold them in place don't need to be very strong in the lateral direction in order to save weight
they pick up a lot of energy and momentum when you flick them like that, then they slam into the stops and shit gets bent because it's not designed for loads like that

Flicking the cylinder closed can warp the crane (the hinge that swings out in the gif), and the impact can generally cause wear and tear to the moving parts. Also, its possible (though less likely with newer revolvers) to change the alignment of the revolver - how the cylinder and the barrel line up - so that the two are slightly out of sync, which will cause excessive wear to your rifling when you fire and a decrease in accuracy as the bullet will begin its travel by more heavily dragging along one side of the barrel than the other. This is more of an issue in older revolvers, as newer ones have built the cylinder in such a way as to be slightly loose so that the bullet itself self-locks the alignment when fired.

The newer Lupin III movies and series have actually been wonderful, even if the dynamics of gunfights are rather ridiculous at times, and for the purposes of plot the main characters get to outrun bullet spray. At least the characters will occasionally argue over the merits of various arms, the designs and animations of recoil and such are well above average, etc.
