should i watch the anime and the movies or should i stick to the manga instead

They're allright I guess, but they have a lot of 3d animation that aged pretty poorly. Worse soundtrack too. They are more faithfull to the manga overall tough.

If you're a big Berserk fan and you need more content, they're okay. If you're asking if you should watch them, then I'd say to skip it.
I'm a big fan so I'd watch any Berserk media regardless of quality.

Read SNK. You won't have to put up with a story that wasn't fully planned from the beginning and which doesn't abruptly turn into an high fantasy JRPG journey.

Even though I enjoyed the movies, which where my Berserk gateway, and the '97 anime I'd still suggest that you stick to the manga, at least until you're caught up. Berserk is just one of those series that's never gonna get a good adaption, at least not in our lifetime

True, though there's always the bright side; at least we'll probably never see that long-rumoured HBO adaption. I'd hate to see what they or Adi Shankar and Netflix would do to the series

They're okay, but they really condense the story of the Golden Age so the pacing is all fucked. The new anime is unwatchable.
