Death Note came first, and has had several adaptions into live action movies both in Japan and the West, as well as musicals, and inspired other anime like Love Tyrant which features a "Love Note" and it was even featured in video games like Jump Force

to be fair, Light's motivation is to create a known "god" of death punishing criminals to make a better world. the simple act of trying to be known provides plenty of openings to being narrowed down.

that said i dont think making Light smart to start with is the appropriate character trait to give him.
the drama takes the much more intelligent route of having Light start out as an idiot.

L's deductions are a little illogical. He assumed that Kira must be in Tokyo, because the TV broadcast with Lind L Tailor was only shown in Tokyo.

But Kira's power is based on the Death Note, the weapon of a Shinigami. L didn't know that, but he knew that there's a super natural power involved somehow.
So what if Kira actually was a Shinigami, and he was watching the TV broadcast through a looking hole in the Shinigami world?
Then it doesn't really prove that Kira is in Tokyo, if you already assume that Kira has supernatural powers.

He already assumed Kira was a human and it's not too far-fetched considering he knew Kira tested his power on that kidnapper guy

this makes light super boring. The one thing that made me pick up death note was the fact that light as very fast at making use of the death note for his plan. That made him into an interesting original character and a badass. This guy looks like a total pussy ass boring fuck.

Now I still think it's alright, but a lot of the humor didn't age well, since it relies on 2010 2channel memes. And to put that into perspective, 2010 Yea Forums memes was shit like Foul Bachelor Frog, Rage Comics, and Epic Win guy

Death Note is good but it can't hang with the best. It degenerated from godly in the first few episodes all the way to OK by the end.
