Why wasnt this series popular enough to get an anime adaptation? It seems to tick all the boxes that Otaku love.

I'm going to take a guess that it might be because that art is terrible. Or because, you know, there are like four thousand similar series and which ones get popular is more or less random chance.
I don't know if its just me but Kazuki's artstyle slightly changes as the volume goes. Guess the more he accepts his role, his art goes cooler as well. By the time its the final volume, hes not designed as that wimpy kind anymore.

He spends the entire series getting scared shitless whenever a woman gets close to him. He has no goals or motives other than "getting strong" and "protect the people I care about". Hes not even shown to have any hobbies or past times other than swordmanship in the translated portions of the manga.

I tried reading the LN and the first volume was really cringey. Cant tell if its the translation but the sentences come across as really forced.

Translation is shit, also it takes a few chapters to get good.
It's translated by bakapervert, who doesn't really have the best English around.
It gets better, both the translation quality and the story, which doesn't really take off until Ikousai gets introduced and Kazuki gets an actual opponent.

Came out too late. Isekai is the new hotness so anime producers can't be bothered to adapt anything else.
I think it would've had a better chance of adaptation if the girls had a less skimpy version of their magic outfit, and the super skimpy outfits was limited to full-power spells or when they actually wanted to show of.
It's been a while since I last read the series though, so I might misremember how much skin they showed and how often they did it. I mostly liked it though.

I am sick and tired of seeing digital rips only get uploaded for 1 volume and then completely get abandoned(I'm looking at you Danke).
