But I like magma diver...
But I like magma diver
Jet Foreveralone
Jet alone is overheated, the true monstrosity of eva is that episode when the angel is a virus that infiltrates into nerv, that episode is so fucking boring
Right? Why the fuck doesn't that one come up more often in "worst episode" debates? I agree that Jet Alone is pretty wack, but I never understood the hate for Magma Diver...
Wait, people don't like Magma Diver?

Detergents?
Yeah, in general the discussions of worst episode are between Jet Alone and Magma Diver
It's quite novel seeing the main three at their peak civility with each other in that episode. After the virus angel it really seems for a moment like it wouldn't be strange for everything to just... work out. At this stage Asuka barely even dislikes Rei.
That is from the Spider angel episode.
Virus angel just ended with them naked in their entry plugs as a stupid joke.
I think we don't like it mainly because we don't like Ritsuko, user.
Hello fetish.
Shut the fuck up, 13's a great ass episode with phenomenal illustration that totally validates Ritsuko as a character.
FUCK YOU COCKSUCKER
Angel Infiltration is the GOAT NGE episode.
Oh, right, those two merge together in my mind because I always assume the virus is what caused the power outage, whereas it was in fact... what exactly? Kaji talks to some woman in a meeting that's kind of meant to make you think he's responsible for it, but literally why would he or SEELE do that?
Someone please explain the practical application of inflating the plugsuit.
Her head is still totally exposed so it will barely do shit against heat, as if the rest would help much anyway if the entry plug were to start boiling.
No logic, it's fetish shit m8
Who gives a shit what Toji thinks, he ignores Hikari and is a doofus.
Magma Diver is the best episode.
JetAlone is good for Misato and Ritsuko. It benefits hugely, dare I saw, from the Netflix dub making it more coherent.
The reason people feel like the action part is out of place is because its Anno doing a Thunderbirds tribute episode.
Given how obviously Eva is based on UFO, I'd assume Anno liked Thunderbirds as well.
makes my peepee the big peepee
Asuka demands that Shinji pilot Eva-02 in this ridiculous equipment in place of her, he starts to volunteer when Rei cuts him off and volunteers herself, and this is so unacceptable to Asuka that she finally accepts the mission herself. Asuka can stand to have Shinji in her seat but Rei isn't allowed. Rei would eagerly risk her life in place of Shinji but not for Eva-02's pilot. There's good shit in this episode.
Magma diver has a shitload of development between Asuka and Shinji, never got why people hated it. Jet Alone is honestly a great episode, Misato focus is good, and it opens up a lot of intrigue about what is going on with SEELE, NERV, and Kaiji.
Thunderbird 5 is in Gunbuster
Didn't everyone think it was going to be just a routine easy mission?
They have to lava submerge for it beyond the range of equipment built especially for that and Gendo's in there convincing the committee it's worth risking but okay. Rei would eagerly sacrifice her own dignity to spare Shinji from being fat, but screw that hafu bitch.
The "going deeper than the equipment was intended for" thing only happened on the day of the operation, it wasn't told to the kids like that
Reminder that Toji is actually really insightful and a great judge of character once he gets to know you past "hello."
This. While I won't call either episode the best the series has to offer, they're not bad by any means and do contribute overall.
Honestly there isn't an episode of Evangelion I didn't like, both of those episodes are really important for developing character. If we didn't get a Ritsuko episode then her actions and fate later wouldn't have carried the same weight.
So can we all agree that the best episode is Shinji and Asuka having to coordinate then
Magma Divers' development for Asuka and Shinji mainly felt like retreading what Dance Like You Want to Win already had.
And it was one of the few episodes that does not advance the background plot or give us any important details on it.
Not best, but it is bloody entertaining.
He also has a cute imouto
You just like it when Asuka looks fat. Me too.
Fuck you. That's one of the best episodes. Clever Angel's design
>Jet Alone
>even bad
Shit taste at its finest.
>Misato's ordinary life
>Misato's duties
>That banter between EUA and Japan
>That critic to institutions and paperwork.
>Resuko wanted Misato to die.
>That last scene about how Misato sees Shinji as family.
it's up there for sure
>Resuko wanted Misato to die
what?
My top would be:
Episode 19, Episode 11, Episode 12, Episode 13, Episode 9.
No real order
i think he mean Ritsuko and he is cray
Dance Like You Want To Win! is the best fun Eva episode. The best despair Eva episode is either the first Leliel ep or the director's cut of Don't Be/At Least, Be Humane.
Iruel and Jet Alone are great for the adults to do stuff.
For me, it's The Last Messenger.
Ritsuko knew that NERV made the Jet Alone to fail. NERV wanted the reactor to explode to make the US look worse. Misato risked her life, and Ritsuko was fine with the posibility of Misato dying.
Jet Alone is a great episode because we can understand the Ritsuko-Misato relationship. We can see through what is gonna happen with them in the last episodes.
>the US
jet alone was the product of a japanese company
>NERV wanted the reactor to explode
rewatch the episode, misato is ultimately unable to do anything in the control room and it shuts down on its own. they even threw in this line AND a scene where ritsuko tells gendo that everything went according to plan to make sure viewers understood
every time, I hope shinji changes his choice :(
Yeah. They engineered a narrowly averted disaster to discourage further Jet Alone development because even they didn't really want to engineer an actual nuclear disaster.
Yes.
So what happens when Asuka has her turn, does Shinji compensate by fingering his butt or does he end up futilely poking somewhere else?
He just goes into her room and fingers her.
MAGMA DIVER
YOU'VE BEEN DOWN TOO LONG IN THE MAGMA SEA
OH WHAT'S BECOMING OF ME
Based
i came here to post this... but you delivered user.... you deliverd
I watched it a long time ago and for some reason thought that asuka died in this episode.
Asuka doing theatrical diving poses while she's submerged into her probable death is classic Asuka.
I also like Magma Diver and was surprised its one of the most hated episodes.
It's mainly because the art is so ugly.
All of the most hated episodes have garbage art directors.
looks like a shot from a training montage
also checked
Even Eva fillers are kino.
>we're gonna need a montage
>MONTAGE!
I found that episode a bit slow.
All Eva episodes are filler.
Jet Alone is world building and Misato development, only MUH ASUKA MEH REI waifufags don't appreciate it.
MONTAGE!
THE EVAS APPROACHING TO CLEAN UP THE MESS! YOU GOT TO REACH IT IN TIME! THATS WHEN MISATO IS PUT TO THE TEST AND HER ASS IN HER PRIME!
ITS TIME FOR A MONTAAAAAGE
what the fuck are you smoking, that's one of the series' finest you nerd.

You just want to see Shinji get in the robot and cut off there before anything happens?
Ritsuko doesn't want Misato to die.
But what she points out (its not brilliantly represented apart from in this episode) is that Misato is self-destructive and has a death wish. Perhaps the stakes for being self destructive in Japan in the early 90s were pretty low, drinking, casual sex and microwave food. She isn't brave as much as resigned or nihilistic. This is your 'thanatos'.
Kaji is all 'eros', he grows plants, he's someone that really wants to live. Its why they are so hot for each other, sex is all eros and thanatos.
In Jet Alone we also hear that Ritsuko actually has a philosophy she can defend for why she is doing what she is doing wit the Evas which is needed because by this point its all looking a bit dark and as she says herself, unforgivable.
how come people never mention the literal clip show, episode 14 i think?
Because they like listening to Rei's ramblings.
Absolutely not, in Dance Like You Want to Win, Shinji and Asuka just figure out how to work together in their own way, it's a relationiship between Shinji being submissive and following instructions, and Asuka being desperate to succeed, and how those two can function together. In Magma Diver, we see the how extreme Asuka's desire to succeed is, she almost equates death and failure, she'd rather die than be in second place. Then we see Shinji, who has basically been in a submissive role the whole show, jump into a volcano because he values his own life less than others. I get the whole "Ha get in da robit shonji" memes, but frankly if what you got from Eva is "Shinji is a little bitch" you did not pay attention and have poor reasoning skills. He's like a more autistic Emiya, he doesn't value himself at all, but he channels that as a tool to end up helping others. That's why Shinji and Asuka relate throughout the show, Asuka being desperate to be accepted by others, and Shinji using others to be able to accept himself are very very similar in practice.
Because the second half is good.
Is magma diver even theoretically possible, seems like the pressure would be WAY too high for any man-made materials to handle
Best happy fun times episode is the Dance LIke You Want To Win! one. The positron sniping episode being a close second.
Best despair episode is the one where the shadow angel swallows Shinji
The thermal expansion bullshit was generally annoying
The misuse of scientific and pseudo scientific terms was insulting
Pretty cool anime if you ignore everything except character drama
Based and Dio-Pilled
What is this runny junior high book report shit? Misato and Kaji are both compelled to nurture and they're both killed at the end of pursuits that they anticipated to be dangerous and entered willfully. Nobody's a caricature representing the death drive while they're sharing a stage with Angels marching one at a time into an execution ground to either be destroyed by humanity or destroy humanity and themselves.
Well, we go in the mariana trench in submersibles today, which are not NERV super-technology. And the pressure there is quite enormous.
Density of water is 1g/cm3, density of magmas is about 2.5g/cm3
You should hear the difficulties they're still having with reaching that depth too. Cameron thought it would be easy to begin with I guess. He actual had big problems.
High pressure is a tougher nut to crack than a lack of pressure.
