Subaru really shouldn't be your "favorite" character, it should already be a given that you like him if you are following the series; your vote should go to your favorite character Subaru interacts with.

amusing at times but it's for anime onlys so it doesn't delve real deep into any of the series. For the Re:Zero cast its set inbetween Arc 2 and Arc 3 so that's where the characters are in their arcs.

How so? From what I've seen, Emilia still feels like the blander character even with Rem being a potato for half the story. The emotion of her scenes just fall flat with me and it feels like Tappei is trying to force them instead of letting it happen naturally.
