You can side in plenty of hate, it still doesn't make Painful Choice anywhere near balanced. It's effectively a +4 if you're going to use every card you send to the graveyard. Even if you're not a deck that uses the grave you would play it because it searches you one of five good cards.

What's the difference between banishing face up and face down?

effects are not activated, and they are harder to retrieve. Like if you banish a monster face-down, and you have a card that says "target a banished monster add it back to your hand" or something, you couldn't pick the face-down banished monster as a target since you technically don't know that you have a banished monster, even though you are allowed to look at it (your opponent is not).

If your deck relies on a combination of a few cards that you need as soon as possible, the pot acts as a deck thinner. You can reliably draw exodia fast when your deck has 3 pots of greed in it.

Because Yata has no risk and massive rewards. If your opponent doesn't already have a way to deal with it, either in their hand or on the field, they lose the game. Only an idiot would be able to fuck up a yata lock after it kicks off.

Raigeki is at 1. Some of the old OP cards got an errata that made them unplayable and were freed. Shit like magician of faith got freed because it became utterly irrelevant with the progression of the game. Some of the OG stuff which can't really be powercrept is still there.
