I don't remember exactly since it's been so long but I think the intention wasn't to completely disregard inner moka but more or less accept her albeit to a lesser extent than outer moka. Which still is complete bullshit though because after all the shit inner put up with, dealt with and how much time she and tsukune spent together you'd think tsukune would fucking respect her a little more. I get it from a character stand point but I remember wanting more and more inner scenes the entire manga and the final arc where it's almost all inner scenes was fucking fantastic. While it's technically in line with the themes of the manga it doesn't settle right, similar to bleach with the rukia/orihime shit at the end. Still one of my favorite series of all time regardless. It's unfortunate the anime ends right before the great arcs in the manga and there's essentially no chance of it ever getting a reboot though.

While it can be better to have other girls show interest and get together with someone else instead of just losing a harem competition, in this case it's not as good as the true harem end that was needed.

If only they were successful in getting her to do it, this would have been even better.

Maybe one day we'll get a series of high-production value OVAs, similar to Hellsing, to do both the art and the original source material justice. The Fairy Tale arc was the perfect final arc, more shonen manga should learn from it. Give everyone some spotlight, ramp up the twists at the end and conclude with a big time final battle.
