That's not how this works at all. For many shows disc sales don't matter much because they have other sources of revenue. Most cute girls anime make far more with merch than with discs.

But for shows that don't move much merchandise disc sales are everything which is why producers beg people on twitter to buy more copies since it's the only way to get more seasons.

Yes streaming makes money but it makes far less money than BD's especially chinese streaming since just 20% of chinese revenue leaves China.

Every show made on that season were on par with everyone's expectations; there weren't any dark horse surprise hits, and the only other surprises were the ones that became disappointingly mediocre forgotten drecks (looking at you, Fairy gone)

First of all VS volumes were on large discounts when they came out while Manaria was not. And second even if somebody takes your crap seriously VS didn't sell 1/3 of Manaria. It sold 1/20 despite also giving a bunch of rolls and unique SSR characters.

Sara aired in a super shitty season so it had far less competition. Yurifags were throwing $$$ at other series.
