Depends on why they haven't announced it yet.
If there's actual plans for more of the anime in the future, then there's two theories for why it hasn't been announced yet.
1. The director was busy with A Place Further than the Universe (and maybe something unannounced).
2. Both vol. 4 & 5 being connected and vol. 7 & 8 being connected makes a single cour awkward if they want to keep the same pacing as the first season. They might have been waiting for volume 10 to make a 2-cour season.
There's no guarantee they actually want to make more though.

The movie was partially about that machine learning how to love. Maybe its an illusion but it fooled MC and made Skynet shed a tear. You could argue that its the characters' divine punishment for destroying the city for the bot, and sending all those characters including fathers to their deaths for a few more days of MC's life. But did they not redeem themselves? MC saving the world by destroying it and making humans a major race, and robot by assisting him, giving him love or at least the illusion of it, giving him a purpose in life after taking it away from him by blowing the city up?
