It's a tool to visually segment a picture you look at through it. Helps you keep the relative positions and proportions in check.

I don't know if trade school is the right name. You're still expected to go to an art college, but it gives you more experience.

Then maybe it was just GA being the vocational school. I don't think Yamabuki dealt with commercial art that much, did they?

I think Yamabuki does have a but more of a theoretical focus. But it can be hard to tell, we don't see that much of their assignments. GA has plenty of theory and art history too.

When I was a kid I liked hiding behind the curtain. It was like my own little world. So calming. It was a white curtain, though.
