Isayama should have stuck to SNK's survival horror roots instead of turning it into surface level socio-political and philosophical commentary. The end was spelled when Isayama admitted to changed the ending midway through to appeal to fans after the series exploded in popularity. It turned out to be another breeding propaganda piece by Shinzo Abe. Expect more generic platitudes about muh next generation as the story ends

But the writer was smart enough to make the challengers greater, have the mc feel useless, make his abilities out to be a problem for him to overcome.
99% of the story is the mc getting his shit rocked and humanity barely making it through. They still have to use creative strategy and shut like to win, so mc having powers isn’t at all an issue.

I'll give you that Ymir's appearance is a retcon, but Uri's age isn't. Uri inherited the founder approximately 16 years before BRA broke the gate at Shiganshina, and 21 years before the events of uprising.
Rod appears to be 40-50 years old during Uprising, and Uri was his younger brother, meaning Uri most likely was somewhere in his twenties when he got the founder, and 35-45 years old when Frieda ate him. Simply, going by Rod's age it's impossible for Uri to have had the founder longer than 13 years. The premature aging stands out, but a retcon it is not.
This, but I feel like Zeke's "hatred for life" could have been better much written, and more emphasized to make it more believable.

Just got caught up with the manga and I have to say that i'm really impressed. Never expected to get this improvement for a manga after its timeskip.
Marley is a wild ride, I thought I'd get bored easily because the new characters' introduction didn't caught my attention, the exposition was kinda overwhelming and it felt confusing at first. But as the story progressed I understood what was all that buildup for. And it was worth it.
I did really enjoy the WW2 atmosphere. Reiner easily became one of my favorites along with Zeke. And the development Eren went through is very satisfactory, although I wish we could see all of the details.
The clash of ideals between characters is something refreshing, as well as the core themes of the story that evolved into something deeper, and I couldn't be more delighted with the absence of "good guys and evil guys". I'm satisfied with the reading in overall.
Last but not least, I really hope that Eren is the father of Historia's baby. The concept of cursed loops are always interesting. Also are the spinoffs any good?
