I am still annoyed by the fact that despite Rudeus and Eris having reached the peak in magical and touki-related fields respectively, that they still had the normal human lifespan after all was said and done. I'd usually expect at least one of them to get their lifespan affected by magic/touki one way or another, i.e. having significantly shorter or longer lifespans than other humans. But no, they both died around the same time within a "normal" human lifespan as if their magic/touki had no effects whatsoever on their bodies. It strikes me as odd. I'd expect Rudi to at least TRY to research something in that regard for himself and Eris (and in general, I guess) so he wouldn't leave Roxy and Sylphy behind.

I was also annoyed at how normal their lifespans are, but I rationalized it that they probably would have lived for a longer amount of time because of how healthy they were.

Eh it's fine. I read up to vol. 8 of the LN. It's more subdued in vol. 7 and 8 in terms of the "extremes" in both diplomatic and domestic issues (for good and bad). A bit "slow", but it's mostly build-up for future events and resolution for some "elephants in the room" and plot threads that had been kept hanging for a while now and wouldn't really fit too well with intense main plot conflicts at the time. In vol. 9 we'll probably finally get to see the Demons that have been teased about for a while now.

Is that actually it? Is there a more formal write-up on the net that you could recommend?

Kenja no Mago actually isn’t terrible by isekai standards. It has an okay cast, gives them some focus and development, has story progression, some world building, etc. Even the bad guys have decent backstories.

What really hurts the series is how generically boring the MC is. If he were interesting: the series would also be interesting. The main girl is also incredibly boring but the MC is by far the bigger problem.

Im trying to come up with a perfect gimmick for my isekai. So far my best idea is tall MC.

I think Rudi’s focus on earth magic in general is the natural evolution of him fighting mainly these touki infused swordsmen. The diference is that instead of killing boars in the forest for EXP, you go to diferent worlds where you are given a mission to complete, sometimes he's a detective, sometimes an appretince mage, errant knight, sustitute teacher that hunts the paranormal, superhero and hints that there's also high tech science fiction worlds, all stories are diferent. Theres a subplot of intrige between players but its not as good in my opinion, the short stories are the meat and patatoes

My isekai is actually a reverse isekai, and it is less action oriented and more existential and depressing.
Basically it's about a chosen hero of a fantasy land, who has known since birth that his destiny is to defeat an evil demon lord. One day when he and his companions are fighting an evil wizard, the mc gets hit with a spell that send him to our current world. At first he tries to make sense of his situation, then he tires to continue adventuring and starts causing trouble everywhere. But as time goes on, he starts to experience more and more consequences of his actions. Soon he discovers that unlike in his home world, here he has no destiny or anything that makes him special. He goes into an existential crisis, starts getting fatter, more depressed and more secluded. And then he becomes a neet, who spends most of his days playing games, reading books and watching shows, that are all fantasy related, because he wants to escape from this empty and meaningless reality and return home to his fantasy land.

Not really he planned it all out against Orsted and when he fought in the Holy Kingdom he played them for fools to set up his power armor. It's not that he got a lot dumber later on, it's rather small tricks no longer did anything against the opponents he fought.

The best example of this was when facing North God, that kid literally ate every trick Rudi's party threw at him and he just out skilled everything until Rudi went nutters on him. Expecting little tricks to work on everyone at every level is silly, not everyone was as aloof as Orsted or Badi.

the tl;dr is guy from the future gets in an accident and ends up traveling to the past and inhabiting various people's bodies. He has his friend from the future's invisible hologram helping him out but since he's so far in the past the information that he can find is foggy.
Better than the downie episode there was one three-part episode where he wakes up as the dad of a little girl being accused of murder by the victim's wife, then again as the fiancee of the same girl(again accused of murder by the woman), then again as the lawyer of again the same girl on trial for the murder of the woman who had been repeatedly accusing her of murder her entire life

user I don't think this is relevant to most people here, since people who spend most of their time on pc/phones tend to have poorer eyesight and thus pay less attention to tiny details like body language.

And that's not even getting into the fact that learning body language requires social contact in the first place. It's practically fantasy/fiction for these people. The only way you could get across to some of them is maybe get them to relate when their parents get real pissed but stay silent glaring at their ass and make them jitter when they were kids, but who knows how many of them had that experience? Even then some people/animals are too dense to detect that kind of thing, hence ya know survival of the fittest. Let's also not forget that whatever social contact people here had was probably ages ago.

He has proven to her he can get them out of dire situations but everytime she's like "But guild leader, doing X will hurt us, we can't possibly afford to do X" and then MC is like, "it's ok just do it" and then she's like "ok". And then then X happens and she's like "You're amazing guild leader!"
Then again i really like how the MC just BTFOs enemy guilds in many ways, like recently where he's about to obliterate an enemy guild's city(and cutting a pivotal source of revenue for them) by using an item he got that lets him call on favors from a demon king and use superpowerful spells. Said item he got by killing some assholes from another guild that wanted to steal some amazing item he paid for.

It still means he's relatively beta, especially given his age. Rudeus despite being the scumbag he is, portrays a rather realistic version of a isekai'd loser and shows how his body affects his mind as he grows.

That said I'm not saying Kitano Seijuro MCs aren't realistic, but no matter what achievements and hijinks such characters create, they are still 'pure' virgins and have nothing to do with being alpha. Their appeal is entirely different, and I feel Makoto is just the same. His appeal right from his character design to his personality to his actions straight up fits those hentai doujins where the onee-sans dominate his fuccboi ass.
