Everyone regardless of gender et al reads Shonen. Shonen Jump for example has a nearly 50/50 split between male and female readers because ultimately even females understand that works aimed at them are shit.

Seinen is shonen without jiggling boobies and panthyshots. I would like to claim that seinen has less edgy teen characters but this is simply not true at all
Shojo is Seinen with haremshit replaced with a boy who acts nice around girls. The stories/situations/humor are the same as in shonen
Josei, same as Shojo

The artstyles are different too and the demographics have different genre proportions (Battles are more common in shonen, romance in shojo etc). But that's where the differences end.

What are you trying to say, that shounen was existent 7+ years ago? That Yea Forums was just like Yea Forums 7+ years ago? Be more clear with what you say. There is a difference between a Bleach manga thread from 09 and 14+ Jojo threads.

Take a genre and think of what different demographic versions look like
