Well, neither can that jelly doughnut.

>he doesn't ceran-wrap his subs so he can slinky them down hills

fpbp
made me giggle

To be honest that onigiri should've fallen apart as well.

I see what you did there

>ceran

Why are murrikans so afraid of rice balls that they go as far as editing them out like Stalin did with his enemies?

They think kids won't know what it is.

And a ball of rice can?

This is an example of extreme localization

The belief that children will be so confused by a food they've never seen before that they will refuse to continue watching their cartoon about magic animals.

Just eat your hamburgers, Apollo.

And a triangular-shaped onigiri can?

If they eat less calorie dense food they might not be so obese, and if they are healtier they might have more energy to protest.

that's a big onigiri

Early 2000’s localization was based.

We know this is an edit so it's not as effective.
Anyone can make gross shit up.

The people working at 4kids who were responsible for this shit were supposedly paid per edit.

It's baffling that 4kids went through the effort to do this shit when it's just for localization and not even censorship. Was it really worth it for them to put in that extra animation work? Wouldn't kids just have thought "I guess rice balls are a thing they eat in Pokémon world" rather than getting put off because it's foreign, or is there something I'm missing?

For instance, I remember reading One Piece in my language as a kid and in that translation they just called the onigiri that Zoro gets from the little girl "rice cakes" and it didn't confuse me one bit despite me having no clue what they were or that One Piece was even from Japan. Is it because Americans are more sensitive to foreign foods or what? That doesn't make sense to me seeing how Mexican and Chinese food etc. have been popular there for decades. I'm not even trying to be like "durr muricans so dumb", I'm just curious why the helle this happened, what kind of culture effected this? Is it just 4kids who were actually retarded?

It's just 4kids. They think kids don't know Japan exists.

THATS A FUCKING DONUT!

Iirc, localizers get paid for how many things they "localize". So this created a lot of dumb changes for the sake of changing things.

It's a kid show though m9

>mom I want to eat the donuts they eat in Pokemon
>receive donuts from mom
I bet most of you niggers did this

Shut up, every has to be an attack against Americans okay faggot.

from what i've heard from muricans themselves, they can't enjoy things they can't relate to, which means they need to dumb down media so they won't risk frying their brains for getting in contact with different cultures. To sum it up, muricans hate learning, it's bad for their mental health.

So are American kids that stupid or what?

>rice ball rolls down
>bread magically jumps without turning at all

Attached: Jelly_Donuts.jpg (546x330, 51K)

Average American kid has no idea what a riceball is or looks like as in the auS rice is usually just served in a pile on a plate or in a bowl. So the turn it into a sandwich or something to make it easier for kids to relate to. Keep in mind that 4kids was well known for going way overboard with its edits and that the companies who do these edits are often paid for the amount of work needed to be done so they usually inflate the amount of required edits.

Who the fuck would willingly eat some plain white rice in the form of a triangle instead of that good looking sandwich?

>Why are murrikans so afraid
4kids, the company that did the localization were paid by the edit so they padded their localizations with useless but payable edits. I'm sorry that this doesn't conform to your preconceptions, maybe you should travel more because you seem to be very insulated and gullible.

>riceball
>it's not a ball
Americans...

Are those black things edible

It's seaweed so no, not really. Unless you hate yourself.

Do you really have to ask?

It looks like Fondant/sugar paste so yeah, but it's basically just sugar.

Yes. its dried seaweed strips.

Side note, 4Kids was inconsistent in it's edits because once they reached their quota they just ignored it. It's why a gun would be cut in one episode but left in the next. If they couldn't bill Cartoon Network for an edit they wouldn't do it.

Blame Cartoon Network for writing a really stupid contract.

Its seaweed. It helps hold it together.

he's talking about the literal donut

Who the fuck puts seaweed onto a donut?

No, those are jelly filled donuts with powdered sugar coating and black fondant on them.

>be american
>censor guns
>get shot

Told you so

>4kids
>a fox programming segment
>working for CN
explain yourself

>cartoon network
pokemon was on kids WB up until like 2004

Aside from the infamous porygon episode 4kids actually cut 3 entire episodes from the original season of pokemon (while leaving the episode previews showing them in). The christmas episode because it involves Jinx who looks like an racist charicatur of a black person, the dratini safari zone episode where Ash catches all the Tauros because it involved guns, and a beach episode with tentacool because it involved James wearing a bikini with fake cleavage bouncing around.

Why is that riceball so fucking huge?

It's like a snowball, as it rolls down the hill it gets other stuff sticking to it and becomes big.

Well that shows me for only looking at the thumbnail.

>pokemen
>perfectly fine
>riceball
>what the fuck is that

>beach episode with tentacool because it involved James wearing a bikini with fake cleavage bouncing around.
They actually kept that one, just heavily edited it.

I really hope you amerifats understand the other country that does that sort of censoring is

CHINA

You Amerifats are so brain washed by your own propaganda you think you are the freest in the world. Morons.

It was originally 2 episodes. They cut out the first one but later on added it back into rebroadcasts heavily edited.

>and a beach episode with tentacool because it involved James wearing a bikini with fake cleavage bouncing around.
based japs

>Not realizing that 4kids was an extreme example and that they did such heavy handed and rediculous editing out of greed because they were paid by the edit.

You want to see other rediculous edits? Look at some of Germany's.

Thanks doc.

>Donuts at home

nice

>they can't enjoy things they can't relate to
As opposed to the grorious Japanese who definitely don't have this problem. It's not like half Japanese characters need to be shoved into every story or anything even if they don't make sense.

>Introducing japanese characters in japanese shows is the same thing as americans eliminating traces of japanese culture in japanese shows so their people don't feel troubled for dealing with other cultures.
Are you mentally retarded?

then why would it remain white in green grass?

American here, I've never heard of that.
Also we hate learning?

that's not grass, that's rice weed

this didn't need to be a webm

Rent free

>eating food covered in dirt & feces

Obligatory

Attached: 1453806680905.png (1801x2197, 3.49M)

It's parents who think their kids are retarded and need protection from ever having to think for themselves. An American kid likely isn't going to have the opportunity to see an onigiri beforehand, but if they can remember the names of a thousand pokemon they can figure this one out. Most would probably just think its some food from the pokemon world.

sounds legit

This is the one franchise that really would need a 4kids/Ace Attorney-tier localization for it to ever make sense to non-nips.

>hijinks in with magic & shit

I didn't think there was anything to understand. Dodge the bullet hell and shoot the bad guy and then go through the boss rush after you win.

Dried seaweed is like crisps.

Seaweed tastes good amerifat

Attached: 1326162438460.jpg (300x368, 61K)

What? Dried seaweed is a normal snack. Look up gim.

>not liking seaweed
pickled seaweed is one of the greatest foods in existence

I think the "jelly donut" thing caused more confusion than calling them rice balls would have.

It's less than wild grass someone picked from the side of the way and more like farmed salad.

Fuck subway, they don't carry the sandwich I liked anymore

I can't even find a Subway anymore that has brown mustard. It sucks.

that was 4kids kino

When I was a little kid I knew that Pokémon was from Japan but I didn't know what a rice ball was so I assumed that's what powdered doughnuts look like in Japan.
