FUCK Sunrise. These lazy, stingy niggers gave up on 2D mecha. This shit studio deserves to die so stop fucking making threads on them.

animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2018-12-22/sunrise-producer-were-the-only-studio-that-can-make-hand-drawn-robot-anime/.141134
>He said that in the future it is likely that 3D will become even more prominent, and hand-drawn animation will be used to guide the 3D animation. He also mentioned that although he comes from a generation that prefers hand-drawn animation, he thinks that Sunrise should proactively work towards making full CG anime in order to adapt with the times.

/thread

That producer's mentality is so cancerous and also obviously just an excuse to save money and get out of putting any meaningful effort into their work. He's basically saying that because the rest of the industry is producing bland talentless trite they should too.

never

Sunrise is focusing on Gundam OVAs.

They're working on Build Divers 2 right now

Shitrise.

make it stop

no

they should keep doing that

why was this saged

Why did you bump this shit? We don't need more soulless 3dcg ridden garbage.

Trash studio.

Soon...

Attached: 170592 mirai_arise.jpg (355x500, 79K)

don't remind me

What's even worse is just how badly they've been half assing their 2D stuff.
The last few Gundam works with 2D animation looked so bad.
They're not even trying anymore.
The last visually impressive gundam series was G-Reco, and that was nearly 6 years ago.

Divers 2 won't have 3dcg

divers looked like garbage, at this point CG might be an upgrade

Those mad Love Live dollars. Would love to seem them animate muv luv alternative

there's Granbelm airing next season

I hope the live action movie fails big time to realize Sunrise fucked up big time.

I hope Studio 8 leaves Sunrise to become Bones 2.0. Love Live has been curse to the whole studio all together.

What?

New Mai Hime series when?

I just want a new trainwreck that is still fun to watch on its own a la Cross Ange.

This.

the last good gundam was 00 season 1

Season 2*
ftfy

Kek, this got fucking cancelled and no one cared because it looked like western pandering shit.

>there are people posting on Yea Forums RIGHT NOW who have yet to watch Sunrise's greatest show
Why is this allowed?

Attached: 2056dfeae40474bd88739364906f108d.jpg (640x904, 101K)

Double Decker is western pandering shit. I can expect Sunrise bring out more sequels of older shows in the near with little western pandering into it.

The mechs look like shit.

This.

They know they can't do better.

Attached: vvv.jpg (400x570, 104K)

But I already watched Mobile Suit Gundam.
Votoms was pretty cool. I hated how the OVAs took Chiriko's superhuman luck and turned it to eleven.

Love Live killed everything for what Sunrise has done it made them lazy, weak and have no morale for themselves.

I feel angry but not anymore.

Mecha as a genre is dead. There will never be a truly impactful or successful mecha series that isn't Gundam again, and even Gundam is in a steep decline.

>Love Live killed everything for what Sunrise has done

This and Based.

Double decker was a Tiger and Bunny spin-off pandering to fujos not the west; both those shows have western aesthetic.

There is a lot to be done with mecha; it just won't be profitable.

>it looked like western pandering shit.
Based on what? a single poster and less than a minute character shot trailer?

It's still pandering to the west user.

Sequel never fucking ever

Attached: 1536192734301.png (700x1181, 995K)

Are the Votoms ovas worth watching?
I've only seen last red shoulder.

Mecha can be profitable it's just Gundam won't be the sole IP representing the whole genre.

It wasn't aimed at the western fujos; if the threads on Yea Forums were telling the truth, people on tumblr called it "transphobic" and started warning each other to avoid the anime when Kirill's brother used the men's room because they though Valery was a female name instead of a Russian male name, so barely anyone watched it to the end.

The only good shows sunrise made was Gintama, Code Geass

After Majestic Prince bombed, I stopped having faith in the market.

I like the animation of Votom Finder.

Has Sunrise made anything good recently?

Its been a while since I watched Case Irvine but I remember thinking that it looked nice though the story did nothing for me.

I have no problem living on AIKATSU and nothing else.

They're working on adapting the GaoGaiGar sequel.

Attached: Hakaiou GaoGaiGar vs Betterman.jpg (540x800, 221K)

No, but their subdivisionary is coming up with one soon...

Attached: keyvisual.jpg (598x846, 545K)

are they rumors of Sunrise working on new Mai Hime and Dendoh series.

Cross Ange season 2 when?

>Gaogaigar
>Betterman
Fuck that
Give me more Brigadoon

After Gundam Origin movie seriously don't believe Fukuda's lies.

This.

Gundam Origin

>forgetting Scryed

OVA soon, amirite.

The franchise is dead

>There will never be a truly impactful or successful mecha series that isn't Gundam again
Eva was the turning point, after it aired there was a boom in original tv Mecha anime in the 2000s.
Mecha is just kinda dormant right now.
I remember there was a period in the early half of this decade where we got a shitton of big budget original mecha shows from different studios.
Captain Earth, Argevollen, Majestic Prince, Guilty Crown, Buddy Complex, Aldnoah Zero, etc.
I think they were trying to make a hit but none of theme ever really took off though since they each had crippling problems.

It must be sad hating all mecha anime. Maybe you should go back to Gurren Lagann.

I wish Sunrise would do some underwater mecha or sea opera series.

But have you watched Fafner?

It's an old property, same as Full Metal Panic.

I don't hate all mecha anime. I hate bad mecha anime, like the Origin.

Attached: 7.gif (600x433, 1.95M)

Then your taste is shit.

Majestic Prince had crippling problems?
It was maybe slightly generic but the execution was spot on

>The franchise is dead
Wrong.

so you haven't watched it?

Frozen Tear Drop SOON!

Attached: FTD gundam wing.jpg (1280x720, 96K)

fuck I replied to the wrong postI watched all of Fafner.
I think it's alright, but the writing is too cryptic for me sometimes.
A lot of the series most important concepts are already obtuse enough and the dialogue being so alien sounding doesn't help much.
The way characters like Soushi, Kazuki, Orihime and others talk about existence and other ideas just seems very unnatural.
This at least makes sense for Soushi and Orihime's character when you factor in their experiences, but it's still too much at times.
I also think Fafner suffers from the lore being so complex, there are all these psuedo-scientific terms that get thrown around that confuse me.
And I'm no stranger to mecha or sci-fi, believe me, but I find myself having to recap on everything from square one every time I go back to rewatch it.

No I loved MJP, it's a solid show.
I was just listing off series from the top of my head.

Cowboy Bebop

As sexy as the robots were I couldn't really get into GaoGaiGar. Are the other Brave series better?

The Bandai Namco Pictures/Sunrise split was essentially designed to stop Sunrise from investing further into original franchises.

>The new company, to be called Bandai Namco Pictures, will focus on properties aimed at children and families. This includes existing anime such as Aikatsu! as well as new, original content.

>The remaining Sunrise will expand its business targeting the anime fan/otaku audience, continuing its cooperation with anime planning/entertainment company Bandai Visual.

I don't think there's any direct translation of the press release itself, but the point is that when they split, BNP was the side that was highlighted as working on new franchises, while Sunrise was left with some existing brands like Gundam and Love Live. The issue is that BNP is very much focused on family/kids stuff and Sunrise themselves are pushing Gundam for kids nowadays with stuff like Build Fighters, so they won't make a different mecha series to compete with themselves.

Shinkalion was a success, but it's very kid focused so you won't see much talk about it outside of an /m/ general (not Sunrise either).

Not him, but the Origin OVA is so corny.
I know that Yas worked on MSG, but he just seems to be swallowed up in the legacy of something he created.
The entire OVA is blatant Char wank.
The Orign has this problem where it's a remake that looks like it was made by a fan.
It's not the same kind of story as 0079.

0079 was a story about normal people thrust into war, The Origin is like a story that talks about how cool the previous story was.
It's more concerned with easter eggs, super obvious foreshadowing, references and cool cameos than telling a story about people.

The Origin OVA is actually a compilation of the flashbacks of the Origin Manga (which mostly focuses on a retelling of MSG with some tweaks), those scenes weren't originally created to be parts of a single story..

They have brought back City Hunter as a movie project so there's a strong chance older IP's will make a comeback as movie or OVA series. It's safe to say Bamco fucked everything up in the process.

>The Bandai Namco Pictures/Sunrise split was essentially designed to stop Sunrise from investing further into original franchises.

Why, I don't understand this really.

CGI ruined everything about Origin.

This.

Mai Hime

Probably to limit how many original IPs sunrise owns. Japanese businesses operate independantly even when owned by the same holdings company (in this case bandai namco holdings). Sunrise owns a lot of the IPs and I can see such a reorganization being made to limit how much power they have.

Go watch Granblem next season, the glorious yuri 2D mecha
youtube.com/watch?v=s-Ybu1E79vY

those mechs looks ugly

What are the chances Mai Hime comes back as an existing IP for Sunrise to work on.

After Darling in the Franxx I don't believe 2D mechs instantly make something good.

>As sexy as the robots were I couldn't really get into GaoGaiGar. Are the other Brave series better?

Gaogaigar is literally the only good one

Mecha is dead.

Attached: fuckHNK.png (1510x897, 1.6M)

Fuck you. Franxx was amazing. A nice breath of fresh air after all the cg cancer we've been getting. It's leagues better than disgusting shit like Knights & Magic or Re creators.

Nope, it was worse than both of them and it had 2 studios working on it.

Attached: KM.jpg (1920x1080, 376K)

Very possible I think.

franxx wasn't really a show about mecha though

Stop spouting shit already you dumb fucking nigger. That image you posted looks absolutely disgusting. You deserve to have your hands cut off for typing something so vile and treacherous. Franxx has gorgeous stylised mechs that are consistent with it's characters. It's underrated.

>They're not even trying anymore.
Of course. Why do you think these scumbags are so eager to adopt 3dcg?

Well since LoveLive success they became weaker to make anything.

Oh my, someone sure is seething.

>Franxx was amazing.

>Pitohui 2.0
muh

G-Reco wasn’t even as impressive considering the OP was nothing but reused footage

This.

Which of the others have you seen?

>ywn see G Reco 2

There will probably be new content in the movies.

Knights and Magic are shit, fuck off with your Isekai crap.

This is your Sunrise mecha show next season.

DELETE THIS

This is just going to be like Regalia. A yuri mecha show that will attempt to sell itself on quality 2D animation, but ultimately be completely forgettable and not discussed past the season it airs.

I don't necessarily agree. Maybe if you talk only about the original, I'd agree, but by Exodus, they've dumbed down the existential and pseudoscience talk so much. All the lore isn't nearly so complex anymore, especially since characters are willing to outright explain it pretty often.

Attached: 1557880212426.jpg (1280x720, 124K)

JUST GIVE US HORIZON S3 ALREADY

Attached: 1559648614564.jpg (1280x720, 51K)

>Barbatos
So, are they allowed to use his design now?
I thought they won't be able to use IBO designs for Build series and stuff for some years or something?

Horizon ended, pools closed buddy.

This.

says you

New Mai Hime or Mai Otome project when?

Soon...

Based.

>the OP reuses footage so the whole show wasn't impressive
Get real

No, Exodus is very lore heavy, they even make references way back to RoL.
I had to go back and rewatch some of the previous material to jumpstart my memory.
A lot of the fafner model names, enemy names and types are thrown around and stuff like the Mir, SDP, and festum stuff took a while to sort out too.

I liked that it had a slower start though.
It was nice to catch a glimpse of everyone's lives before shit hit the fan.

Origin is one of the greatest anime ever and even dares to put stuff like nge to shame. Go wank with tour zeta and 0079 mediocrity. Modern anime wins

I want this Isekai

Attached: 1561557249556.png (800x1230, 820K)

Franxx was good when showing teenager interactions but the Last eps focusing on mecha and añd that reptile shit was kinda boring

>Impying anyone gives a rat ass if a show gets discussed after it ends
It still looks better than the latest 2D mecha attempts

No

It was awful. If you have a repetitive, unoriginal story to tell, at least make it look interesting. It was a show from the 80s but made today. I don't know whomever thought it to be a good idea.

>mechs

Fuck that, I'll take a well-executed generic story over a gimmicky premise on hype train that never delivers like AZ.

youtube.com/watch?v=MCcZe1R095k

>mecha

Attached: yawning.jpg (782x520, 130K)

I agree with this user.

Destiny ruined Gundam and Mecha
After its 2nd half tanks in ratings bcuz its rehashing Zeta & SEED,
A season is reduced 4 cour to 2, sometimes, even 1 cour.
Even Code Geass, Majestic Prince, Aldnoah Zero, Cross Ange.
Imagine if Both Seasons of CG are 4 cours(2), it would be AOTD
F*ck Destiny F*ck Shinn and F*ck Fukuda

Revival project coming soon....

>Isekai

Trash it goes

Heybot and Thunderbolt

I'm still upset about that Accel World movie. What the fuck were they thinking?

I want to believe

Is that really bad? Have any of their original mecha shows been good? The last one I remember was 'The Price of Smiles' and it fucking sucked.

>The last one I remember was 'The Price of Smiles' and it fucking sucked.
That wasn't Sunrise. Pretty sure Sunrise's last original was Buddy Complex, which was pretty good.

Was Valvrave by Sunrise?

Yes.

> Buddy Complex
It was awful. Sunrises recycled Gundam SEED and added extra retardation. The MC is one of the most insufferable 'average guys' in anime, with an IQ of 50.

Back in the 80s, the popularity of Gundam led to tons of talented artists wanting to join Sunrise.

Now, the popularity of LoveLive must have led to tons of idolfags and CGfags to join Sunrise.

Franxx was just Macross but shitty

Love Live was a mistake.

This.

>Franxx was good when showing teenager interactions
Nope

>Franxx was just Macross but shitty
Bad comparison bad.

Beg me
