desu I felt all the characters but the main characters was so lifeless and dull...not sure if im the only one that feels the same but i dont like how the anime makes it out that the MC is always in the right and the other characters are just dummies to be used to make the MC look good, like the sidecharacters act so dumb its not even a joke.
Also the two girls in the MC party are just following and pandering to him as he is some sort of God. Its kinda boring to see that happen after the anime looked promising in the early episodes.

Absolute disappointment for me. I remember being hooked seeing the first episode. I wanted to see the struggle, I wanted to see how Naofumi would deal with a world that completely hates him. What I get is 4 episodes of that struggle before completely forgetting about it. Once the loli chocobo was introduced I learned this wouldn't be the dark show I thought it was. I wanted the rage shield to be a legitimate risk, but after going enraged once it becomes just another shield. Combine this with the director's atrocious decisions (bad enough I read ahead a little in the manga) and this all just turns into being SO BAD. Really unfortunate, I wanted to like it because it started out so good but god it just turns to such SHIT.
Anyways gonna try Arifureta next season. Heard it starts dark and turns into a haremshit like this one, but apparently the MC isn't a little bitch and actually fucks the harem so let's see if that helps at all

Episode 1-5 had such promises. Raphtalia's growth should have been natural and not that demihuman-levelup bs and the power grinding should have been slower. And yes, that would mean the story would elapses over several years, but lets be honest here, I think everyone would appreciate if the story was more heavily focused on Naofomi's struggle than being a travelings merchant and a later a fugitive for like a week tops.

And back in the early few episodes people were angry the kiss was cut. I said that they would add the kiss at the end and it did happen at the last episode. And it looked like it was a cheek kiss as well. But I didn't like how Naofumi said he'll stay behind.

Not really that impressed with Disk 1 of the 2nd part. A lot of the tracks was unused in the anime, and I can see why. A lot of the tracks are experiment and new-ish things Kevin incorporated. He talked about trying out a lot of news thing on Twitter before, and I guess that was it. I'll listen to Disk 2 later. Part 1 was really good.

Also, to add, I don't think this anime ended "badly". They needed a good place to end on, which could work both as a series finale and as a possibility for a continuation. This episode worked.

They could also come back to punish Bow for what he did to Rishia later on. They could also have the old lady train the party at the village later. Things got mixed around, but they could always come back to it

The only problems I have are 2 things. Only is only a small problem in that they could condense the pope fight and have another episode for the island. The other bigger problem I have already stated is Naofumi saying he'll stay behind. This absolutely should not be said until the series finale. If there is no continuation whatsoever, I guess that was a good ending point.

Oh, and I guess they changed Rishia's name to Lecia even though it's official in the manga (think it's the same for LN?)

Raphtalia going through inner turmoil and always talking to herself or asking Naofumi to stay behind before getting interrupted was repeated in many episodes. Raising that many flags should come back to answer in the final episode.

I don't know how Naofumi could've answered. Saying he'll stay behind is too "final". But not answering would've left a huge question hanging, and even answering "I'll stay behind until all the waves are defeated and you've learned to defend yourselves" would been what he said all series.

Made me pick up the novels, but I dropped it around ep 17 I think (the Fitoria ep).

The problem for me was that the story just goes through a huge bump with the introduction of Melty and doesn't really pick up until the Queen shows up, since I wasn't loving the anime I just decided to read the novels (although if my friend didn't gave them to me I reckon I would have finished it)

I'm a little disappointed with most of the alterations for the anime adaptation. Some steps forward with the longer fights but steps backward when it comes to a cohesive narrative and character development. Like, they're skipping or altering a lot of scenes which normally give you more insight into other characters and some of it starts to look flimsy because they skipped something earlier that help establish something else.

I find it to be a strong 8 if not that a 7 at least. Characters were likable and the evolution of Naofumi's character was good. Of course the retribution was great. It's not revolutionary or anything, but it was good. I really don't get what people were expecting out of this to find it to be wasted potential or bad.

The English manga translation is actually behind the anime I think, so I'm not finished. It's fun, better than most isekai out there. MC's righteous vengefulness is great to watch. The story gets worse and worse the longer it goes though. First arc was such an unfocused clusterfuck by the end I was just glad to see it go. 2nd arc seems better, I want to know what these guys fighting on the monsters' side are up to. I don't have especially high hopes though, and might drop it. Everything I wanted from the series was either fulfilled or dropped pretty early on.

Holy shit, actual character growth for spear hero. And a nice reference to the spin off where they all start getting memories back.

8.8 out of 10. Pacing and animation was off in places, but it felt like a nice overall package that could be extended if necessary. Might just be biased considering I'm impressed how they resolved some of the darker elements of the story to make Naofumi a better person than he is in the source material.

If Naofumi was "Keanu Humble" enough to respect the institution that was his sole saving grace, then I'd like where this series was going. There's a point where a character is such a flaming narcissistic hypocrite (I. E. the nice guy slave owner who liberates other people's slaves) that it's obscene.

Sure, everything works out. But only for him. As for the laws of the land, pre-existing social order and everyone else with a good (maybe even better) reason for doing what they did, well they can all eat shit because muh cheat shield.

Ooooh, i see now. I suppose thats how it would look to some people. I'd say just to take the latter half of the episode for what it is. A way to end the anime on a good(?) note. I suppose you won't be reading the LN or manga so i'll leave you with some info here: Not even half what's happening there is supposed to happen yet according to the source, including the rebuilding of the village, and it leaves some(read: most) details out and skips out introducing several characters important to the story, the reason why Naofumi decided to make a village and why he choose that exact territory too. Among other things. And naofumi does consider himself a hypocrite, a slave driver(though the slave mostly ends up being him) and not a good person overall in spite of being a "Hero".

I haven't seen any number of episodes yet, but I expect it will rush things as much as the manga has.

This was really mediocre and I can't give it anything more than a 3/10, I enjoyed more the fact that it made faggots on Twitter angry than the actual show.
I'm 29 and I was absolutely disappointed, retards at work kept praising this shit and some faggots I play DotA with even read the source but it was just bland shit.

Objectively, probably a 6/10, personally an 8/10 because I liked it enough to want a season 2, so I'd round it to a 7/10.

I consider 5/10 to be 'average/watchable/serviceable', and I thought it had a better than usual design sense (character designs, color design etc), the plot was more interesting than most things, it had an interesting tone but it degraded into something more generic.
I would have pushed for it to be an objective 7/10 if it wasn't for the final arc, which was paced badly. Even though I thought the rest was paced fine.

To me, 6/10 is something that is serviceable with an extra kick that makes you want to like it, and I think most people will be able to admit that Shield Hero has a little extra kick but was flawed in it execution that stops that kick from getting it to a 7/10.

Too many plot holes. Need something to change the plot? Add some random shield we've never seen or heard of.

Why are they fighting and not negotiating with each other? - I guess that's why they only 'summon'/recruit young teens, because they are easily manipulated.
