Why do people pretend they like anime like sailor moon? I get that the girls are cute but there’s cute girls in anime with a little more meaning. I unironically would rank Inuyasha above Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon is nothing more than the Pokémon of magical girl shows. It’s big but lacks substance and meaning. It’s a literal children’s anime rated for kids under 12 and under.

They’re both monster of the week type anime but the characters in Inuyasha are fleshed out a little more and the romance is a huge bonus. It’s something done that would make most anime directors and writers shit their diapers.

I’d place Madoka somewhere on the same level as Utena but Madoka wins for me because the character design doesn’t look like it was drawn by American teenagers just learning how to do anime character design.

This would be correct except you neglected to mention Ping Pong which is the actual AOTD with MPD being a close second. Madoka could be considered third best if you take into account how influential it was but it is definitely worse than Penguindrum and Ping Pong.
