>Anime marketed towards young males is mostly about escapism, power fantasies and cute anime girls >Most anime in that category is actually about beta MCs barely able to achieve anything romantically despite having seduced half a dozen girls without doing anything of note. >These characters care about proper rules and morals even when there's literally no reason to uphold them. >These unmanly, uptight and boring young men are meant to be seen as cool heroes
If anime is meant to fulfill fantasies, why isn't more of it about übermensch chads who disregard the rules, fuck the girls and kill people they don't like? Rance is the ultimate power fantasy guy, and yet he's completely at odds with all the Kirito clones.
I've played through 3 rance games and I don't like the way the MC acts like, I honestly prefer the MC in Alice Soft's other games like Evenicle where the protagonist actually has some sort of moral compass rather than just acting like a mentally retarded tsundere who wants to rape or murder every single person he comes across.
Ryan Davis
If you made them chads, then loser otaku won't be able to self-insert
Levi Brown
The target audience couldn't identify with übermensch chads so it would be a worse escapist fantasy. The fantasy is more satisfying when you see someone succeed who is literally you as it means that under the right circumstances you could succeed too.
Carson Smith
Rance is too much of a chad for modern anime. Which ones did you play? He acts completely differently in the old canon and softens as the series goes on.
Cooper Anderson
Not everyone wants to be an edgelord. In fact, what upsets me more are the protagonists only being half-assed good guys. If you're going to be a hero of Justice, at least commit.
Isaiah Stewart
Hey Griffith how's your utopia doing?
Sebastian Martin
Because by virtue of anime being escapism, awkward beta MCs are able to get 10/10 girls. An ubermensch Chad getting women would just remind them of the real world, not very escapist at all
Gavin Murphy
>If anime is meant to fulfill fantasies, why isn't more of it about übermensch chads who disregard the rules, fuck the girls and kill people they don't like? Rance is the ultimate power fantasy guy, and yet he's completely at odds with all the Kirito clones. To be fair, Rance is a woman's power fantasy. Most of the writers throughout the entire series are women, it's literally women fantasizing being raped by an assertive chad.
If even one MC implied that the government shouldn’t censor all porn then Japanese society would collapse.
Aaron Sullivan
The fantasy is to interact with cute girls, which anime fans don't
Landon Baker
Otaku usually seek social validation due to the way they are looked down upon irl. Acting like a hero leads to many people growing to admire them, which fulfills that wish.
Plus, moralfaggotry is usually an endearing trait that can easily create conflict, so it is easy to give to Isekai power fantasies that don't have much of a personality.
Hunter Turner
Because then you can't self-insert People don't want to watch something that reminds them of their insecurities and powerlessness by showing something they can't relate to
Benjamin Rodriguez
Self insert cucks are pathetic
Angel Clark
it seems that the fullfillment of fantasy here would be that a character in the situation of the watcher, rather than a character that would be an entirely different person, succeeds at doing such things
Angel Russell
That feels contradictatory with the fact that most MC are spineless betas. Sure they can self-insert but since they can, it means that the character reminds them of themselves and therefore share with them their insecurities and powerlessness.
Jonathan Reed
you really think a country of boys with no freedom forced to spend their entire lives either learning or working 6 days a week could relate to a power fantasy?
Joshua Robinson
Gendo has transcended autism and gone full circle. I wouldn't call him a chad.
Joshua Sullivan
That wouldn't work since those are the guys who bullied them
Christopher Adams
>The target audience couldn't identify with übermensch chads so it would be a worse escapist fantasy.
Are animes made for a certain audience to self-insert? Aren't they made to just illustrate stories, independent of targeted audience?
