I'm insulted.

Try Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo.

As much as I love the series these are fairly ridiculous, but I mean without interesting clues a crime mystery show doesn't have much to do. There's only a small amount of times you can get away with very simple clues.

Zero the Enforcer really left a bad taste in my mouth.

Attached: 1557911970138.png (587x600, 205K)

Right? Aside from the obvious about it being an Amuro movie and his dumbass stunts that rival Conan's finest, Conan himself looked oddly drawn in random scenes too. It felt like a poor movie all around.

>tfw the big riddle in Umineko was also impossible to solve if you were playing the english version because it relied on the same thing

this series used to be so good and peaked 10 years earlier

but goso had to had more and more characters to an already big cast, now the manga suffocates under all its convulted and nonsensical plot points, some of them going nowhere

Sherlock Holmes fails a lot more than you would expect if you actually read the books.

Attached: holmes.png (250x250, 61K)

I agree to a lesser extent. Still love the show, the characters introduced since that time are enjoyable, and the plot points do get focused on here and there, Kir hasn't had her plot focused on in some time but Aoyama recently said to keep an eye out for her next move, so something's coming.

I miss the old style(s) greatly, but it just comes with going digital. Since you posted her, I also miss Jodie's old look and her cute english, she rarely has a reason to speak that way anymore. Her "cool kid" was so adorable.

I wish I had the will to re-read all of the early chapters to get that feel again

I hate what this manga has become, it's so soulless now

everything is predictable, there's no gags or slapstick nowadays, and the art is the just the worst

the characters are not characters anymore

they used to have so much personnality, even the Detective Boys felt liked actual children

now they are so bland and lifeless they don't even react when they see a dead corpse, normally they should be consulting a trauma psychologist on a weekly basis with all the stuff they saw

The anime art feels soulless aside from the close manga panel adaptions for upclose shots and when Aoyama draws for it. The manga look can be rough but it isn't as bad as the anime can get. I don't think it's that predictable and if we're talking about the cases they're just as wildly revealed as they have always been. Slapstick shows up sometimes still, I think someone said Kogoro whacked Conan in the Bunny Club case recently, but I do miss the cartoony aspect of the beginning, hell the anime used to have Hanna Barbera sound effects, that was great. I do feel like the Detective Boys feel more like one entity rather than individuals, Mitsuhiko used to get spotlights as being logical, scientific, and occasionally brave. He was easily my favorite of the three, with Ayumi a close second. I can't remember the last time his interest in science has been brought up, if it has been it's very rare, though it was sort of a background thing even in the beginning. I'm pretty sure they still react to corpses most of the time.

user if you enjoy the old times, at least go through it again when you can. Don't binge it, just check out a chapter or two here and there.

I hope not. Japan needs his help with all the crime problems it has.

Megure said there are too many detectives in Japan already
Sera could take Shinichi's place as detective of the east

If that's the case, he should become a shut-in like L and solve crimes from a distance. The Japanese police may need to put him under house arrest if necessary.

>everything is predictable
post rum

it's the noodles guy

screepcap this

Imagine how powerful the black organization would be if Gin wasn't the only capable member that's not a spy.

the MIB is a joke, 2/3 of it's members are spies

haibara's parents, amuro, kir, shuichi

even rum is a spy

screencap this

Vermouth aswell isn't really loyal, she let Shinichi escape, wont tell anyone about him and even seems to hope he manages to destroy the organization.

That was such a devastating arc. Conan getting shot, staying hospitalized, worrying because Ran has found him out, wanting to tell her but Haibara shows up with a gun saying Agasa's been kidnapped and everyone is gonna die, shoots but its a fuckery thing, he goes through more painful transformations that keep him from kissing Ran, has false hope that he's back to normal, then before he can reveal his feelings to Ran, turns back into Conan again and has to tell her Shinichi bailed on her and watches as she feels rejected and cries, having to lie and make himself look like an asshole in the process. All this happened in a very short span of time. This has been a really rough year in-universe for the guy. I'm glad all this doesn't visibly affect him during average cases, it'd be too much. I just want the suffering to end. I'm surprised Conan/Shinichi isn't depressed.

Attached: revival.webm (832x624, 2.25M)

okashii zo

reason?

it's pretty much confirmed by now that neither that one eyed policeman or the teacher are rum

so either it's the noodles guy or it's none of them and aoyama is a hack who has wasted 7 years of his reader's life

>it's the noodles guy
I think so too.
My suiri is like this:
>Wakita is Rum
>Wakasa is Asaka (a separate person from Rum)
>Kuroda is Furuya's case officer in the PSB

>Haibara shows up with a gun saying Agasa's been kidnapped and everyone is gonna die, shoots but its a fuckery thing
>has false hope that he's back to normal, then before he can reveal his feelings to Ran, turns back into Conan again and has to tell her Shinichi bailed on her and watches as she feels rejected and cries
Haibara's behavior was really manipulative and cruel in that arc. She knew when he was going to run out of time on his transformation since she showed up just in time, but conveniently neglected to tell him that. Then she was smiling triumphantly over him when he was in pain, and humming and smiling the next morning when she found out his plan to confess to Ran had failed. What a selfish bitch.
>I just want the suffering to end. I'm surprised Conan/Shinichi isn't depressed.
I think he's not just an emotionally strong and optimistic person, but being able to live with Ran and be supported by her strength every day, and looking forward to the day he can fulfill his promise to her, keeps him going.
Even so, while I love the series, I hope it wraps up soon for his sake. As a very long time DC fan I didn't expect his limbo to last this long.

When I get killed by a featureless person in black I will re-arrange all the furniture in my home so that it creates a deep message related to feng shui that will point directly to the killer, but only if you also know some random chinese proverb which first has to be google translated into english and back 200 times, after which it will spell the killer's name.

I wouldn't be surprised if the anime staff just fucking skips the black bunny case. They have a stick up their ass about fanservice for guy viewers.

Attached: adaption.png (1470x374, 481K)

Even though that was back during her original personality phase she still would have been better off written to sympathize with him on the inside.

I don't know what you're talking about but something something Yea Forums is all autists.

>that difference in drawing body proportion
wth happened?

Aside from Dragonball and One Piece and obviously Conan I don't think I've seen any of those.

Vodka seems kinda competent but we never see him do much. I hope he remains loyal and that Gosho gives him some shining moment later on. It seems weird that despite being the second half of the original primary members that started the series all he's done is make the deal with that guy in the first chapter. Gin was off fucking around the amusement park or standing guard around the building while they did the transaction. Gin has lead every action they've done because he's Vodka's superior or whatever.

You would think that Kir, being a professional that goes on TV, would fix those bangs. Where applicable you should make a version with the older designs. That's an alright shot of Yoko for instance but she used to look way better. Kobayashi also went through some kind of redesign.

The new style is probably the worst look I have ever seen in an anime. Who ok'd it?

Do it again with the good artstyle

A lot of the difference between original Conan and modern Conan can be explained by the fact that Aoyama's first intention for the series seemed to be a loose comedic and fun take on crime mysteries. Later on it started getting more serious, so the designs matured to reflect that. The cute days used to have slapstick and wacky faces all the time.

It sucks but its passable enough for me to not give up on it. I wonder if any of the japanese viewers have said anything online about not liking it. They probably post rhino horn jokes but have they ever expressed distaste for it? There are times from the side it is just too distracting, it has to be called out.

>upcoming TV Original
>titled "The Man Crushed by a Dinosaur"
It must be so draining to come up with so many cases on top of what has already been canonically done. Whatever they're doing must strike a chord with the anime fans because the fillers get good reception. The case after the boss reveal was filler and it got better ratings than Maria-chan.

Attached: DC54.jpg (630x480, 87K)

What's the worst filler episode?

Do you think Aoyama ever gets inspired by real crimes? And then puts on several layers of bullshit to make it convoluted of course.
A variation of the very first case with the decapitation by high velocity piano string actually happened once (although long after the release of the chapter)
Some dude killed himself by tieing rope around his neck and the other end around a lamp post and then floored his car. Ripped of his head and gave the coroner a bit to think about how a headless body could have driven 100m in a car

It's possible, I think some were a reference to certain stories by mystery writers, but I've never heard anything about real murders. It's hard to say if he'd see that as offensive or not.

I didn't know that about the headless driver, damn.

Movies 1, 2, and 4 had the most heart. 3 came close with the ending.

Attached: ttbs.jpg (1920x2613, 498K)

Sera is more likeable than Shinichi though.

3 is the best conan movie

What if you had to pick a different one? What would your followup be?

You just say that because you find her hot. I mean, she is because of how open she is about proving she's a girl, but come on man. Shinichi has more charm in his suit than Sera does in her whole body.

Is this the fishing line thread?

Have we even seen her dad? Just her mom right?

The KIX case wasn't that stupid, anymore than any of the other cases where the suspects have themed names are stupid (it actually comes up a lot, but the translators usually don't bother to translate that part).

>she still would have been better off written to sympathize with him on the inside
You may want her to be written a different way but that's just the kind of person she is, there's no sugarcoating it. She's self-centered without the altruistic external action to balance it out, sort of like the inverse image of Shinichi.
It's why I never found a pairing between them feasible, she never deeply cared about him beyond wanting to possess him, and the gulf in their value systems is too great.
In her interactions with the DBs she's learned a little empathy but still acts pretty spoiled. I guess her fans find that cute.

I love her but I assumed that she wasn't intended to be that bad or anything.

>it actually comes up a lot, but the translators usually don't bother to translate that part
Really? That's going to bother me.

>it's a train case

Attached: muh.gif (500x281, 1022K)

The suspects' names often follow the theme of the case, but if you don't know Japanese you'd never know it. Usually it isn't relevant to case-solving, the KIX case was one of the few times that it was.

oh I'd so commit a parking violation

Kaito manga is so wild, that it's hard to believe that it takes place in the same universe as conan. He fight Terminator and real evil witch in the same volume

They're kinda different timelines, magic doesn't exist in Conan, all the stuff Kaito does is technically possible or rationalized.

He does look good in it, but it's really formal wear for a kid. Even Shinichi just wore it that once because he was intruding on a fancy dinner party.
But I wonder if Shinichi's fashion taste tends to be a bit on the formal side, most of the clothes I remember him in go toward that direction and I don't recall him wearing casual stuff like t-shirts even as Conan much. Suits and outfits with collared dress shirts fit his character somehow, I can't explain it.

I wish this shot got remastered too.

This phrase is so weirdly transcripted

>A bike helmet wearing girl was there

Couldn't the translators just type "a girl with a helmet was there" ???? Sounds a lot more natural

DC translators usually aren't native English speakers and don't know what natural-sounding English is.

Not him but I thought we have native English speakers as translators now. Aren't these by Beika Street Irregulars? I haven't looked but they might say if they are native or not.

Did they change translators from Yunnie? She's Russian and her English was pretty bad.
Unfortunately, a lot of native English-speaking translators don't have good writing skills in English either.

Well, Yunnie died, so it can't be that person anymore.

Do you have links for this, I can't find a source yet.

Ask yourself what would conan do

Ask the suspects directly, and then go into their rooms and snoop in their drawers?

I could only speak for the translator from latest chapter (I don't know their work cycle), spoiler and interviews translation I posted are translated by him, that guy is based. Their typesetter and cleaner are having vast and deep knowledge about the series, they're fine. I don't know about the rest.

Korn and Chianti don't seem too bad. Sure, they pale next to Gin but they're not brain dead like Vodka.

It was good though.

Vodka is Gin's subordinate, what do people expect him to do other than what Gin tells him.

But how many times did Gosho self-insert himself into Minami when they were briefly married?

>sorry I faked my death
>but maybe I'll join the discord later like nothing happened teehee
I guess it's not just the Japanese DC fandom that's full of mentally ill fans. Maybe it can't be helped with such a popular series.

Gosho self-inserts himself in form of Mitsuhiko.

Attached: original.gif (500x375, 1019K)

Doubtful, that would make it harder for him to fantasize about taking secret baths with Ran.

Actually, it makes a lot of sense since best girl is Ayumi.

He's said it before in an interview that he does see himself in Mitsu, but I feel like he's since moved to Conan in full because Mitsuhiko doesn't get much to do anymore.

Poor Sera.

Oh hey I made this webm years ago.
Nice to see it's still being posted.

The big riddle wasn't a riddle at all. The whole Ushiromiya family is filled with murderers: Eva, Hideyoshi, Natsuhi, Rudolf, Kyrie, Kinzo and from what we learned from episode 8, possibly George ("he could kill a kid though") and Battler (hinted to have killed Shannon/Kanon/Beatrice/Yasu/Lion after all).
And the servants themselves attempted murder on the Ushiromiya family.

Neat.

Aoyama seems like a boob guy so if anything Conan would probably be into breasts too. He gave Ran a big chest, her ass wasn't very prominent until later.

I think Conan as a committed Ransexual is into every part of her body.

I bet at the end, when everything is unraveling, Vermouth will be holding Ran hostage and disguise herself as Ran so Shinichi must rely on his absolute knowledge of Ran’s emotions and body to determine who is who.

Why is everyone in this city so autistic?

Good idea. He'd have to examine both their bodies in intimate detail. But he can only get an erection to the genuine article, so that would be his guide.
It can segue into the love scene that Gosho said he wants to draw for them.

Has happened before at least once, I think. I wanna say it has at least.

Sera is an overrated smelly boy.

I mean did the murderer get away but Conan was able to solve the case a couple of hours before he did? It could even lead into another case where the murderer finally gets caught but I doubt it ever happened which is pretty surprising.

You could really tell back then that Yukiko was based on Fujiko Mine.

Formula is the same, but Kindaichi rarely have short arcs, while most of Conan is short 3-chapter stories, so they feel really different.

Gosho's comments on these new Union Creative figures had people in Japan scratching their heads with how they go from normal to increasingly racy.

>Conan: Take a blue jacket, red bowtie, and grey shorts, and you have Conan Edogawa! Maybe he'll let you in on a little secret?

>Pandering to me good
>Pandering to someone else bad

This but unironically

Pandering for an OTP established since the very first chapter is indeed good.

Pandering to some boring Gary Stu that brought in secondaries like you isn't. That's just how it goes.

Attached: 1540888843454.jpg (832x624, 70K)

There's a difference, Shinichi's endgame is getting inside Ran, shit like this just proves Amuro is a garbage character written to appeal to fujoshits.
>Is the MC getting ready for his girl?
vs
>amuros ass

>boring Gary Stu
Not him, but Shinichi is the biggest mary sue of his own series. That's why the MC is Conan.

>Shinichi is the biggest mary sue of his own series. That's why the MC is Conan.
Technically he's Conan because he isn't a mary sue.

Amuro endgame is marrying Japan and he's getting ready for it.

That didn't even say anything like that in the way it did with Shinichi, it literally just says he has an ass.

You can turn it that way, but what I mean is that every Shinichi - Ran interaction requires Conan to be in his Gary Stu form, unless you mean Conan just thinking about Ran.

Sweeping fans off their feet is part of his plan

Shinichi isn't a Gary Stu around Ran, he can be pretty normal and even awkward around her.

>every Shinichi - Ran interaction requires Conan to be in his Gary Stu form
He has to be Shinichi because of secret identities, not because when he's Shinichi he's suddenly a gary stu. Keep in mind that as Conan he has the same mind, any mistakes he makes he's still Shinichi.

Also this, the entire first episode was about him having no self awareness around her and babbling about something she doesn't care about. She even yells at him for it. He does this around others too.

Just compare Amuro and Shinichi and you'll see what the difference is between a gary stu and someone who's smart. This coupled with the awful qualities fujos want in a guy make him insufferable because he's a walking moneymaker and that's all he is and has to be. Even Kaito Kid isn't as bad as him because Kid can falter and have hangups. Amuro's entire thing is just that he's cool. There is zero fucking depth in that tan ass of his.

>amurofags
go back to bitching in gay husbando threads that conan threads aren't welcoming to your shit taste

I hate this timeline where we have to argue about Amuro's ass.

Someone build a time machine so we can go back around 16 years or so and convince Gosho to come up with a roadmap for DC so it doesn't just meander for decades as he adds more and more characters without any plan for how to end it.

Attached: 1534258082760.jpg (800x578, 54K)

Amuro's existence is essentially no more than a seiyuu/Gundam in-joke, it doesn't seem like Gosho even intends to give him any depth or flaws. Making him a good guy was a critical error, it's a huge missed opportunity.

>oh no the killer might work out that I'm trying to leave a dying message
>better write it in heavily encrypted ancient greek

Or to just leave it at Akai and not bother coming up with Amuro at all. Even making him a bad guy could lead to this, it'd only be a lesser of two evils. If he was bad like Gin those flaws wouldn't be recognized, it'd just be "cool." The absolute lowness in sinking to fujoshit pandering where he himself is talking about the character's butt for a figurine is sad. Aoyama is better than this but I'm sure he stopped caring when he and the staff realized what fans the character brings in.

Attached: haibara bus.png (640x480, 261K)

Fuck off

I wonder if this is why he's been talking about wrapping up the series quickly. It's been evolving more and more into a cashgrab, and he might be facing pressure from all sides to insert certain elements into the manga. It might be better to end it on his own terms as soon as possible rather than let it go on and risk someone else taking over if he dies suddenly or something.

Another possibility is that he's losing his passion for the series and really is just selling out. I think he's still enthusiastic about the romcom element and giving Shinichi a happy ending but might have gotten burnt out on the BO plot and so many mysteries over the years.

Attached: 1560911665866.jpg (960x720, 89K)

Being "awkward" doesn't detract his Gary Stu-ness, considering minor quirks are expected from the archetype.

I am obviously talking from a narrative standpoint.
Shinichi is interesting because he has lost alot of what makes him a perfect student, including his identity (fans from his school, city, and the country;), his lifestyle (Has to literally visit an elementary school, away from her lover, has to live in a shitty appartment and abandon his mansion) and is under constant threat of probably the most powerful organization in Japan. If Shinichi never turned into a child it would have lost its character appeal, quickly.

>Amuro
TBF this series was always filled with badass, super-cool characters for the sake of being a shounen, despite being supposedly grounded on reality.
I am not trying to defend Amuro, it's just that you are accusing him of being a Gary Stu while forgetting that Shinichi fits the criteria himself.
From the top of my head, these are
Shinichi's strengths:
Very athletic, highly intelligent; strategic mastermind to set up traps and plots for suspects to fall into; (near-) photographic memory; advanced knowledge in a very wide variety of professions and hobbies; very popular in his own school, prefecture and country; son of worldwide famous celebs, excellent social intercourse skills when he's "into it", he knows the psychology of criminals, suspects, innocents and bystanders alike and has no problem interacting with them; quite rich, owns a mansion; plays the most cliché and a very difficult instrument with ease; can pilot various different vehicles, including a helicopter; sharpshooter-tier weapon handling skills. I might have forgotten some strengths.

Quirks:
Sometimes acts goofy and aloof around girls, isn't the best detective in the world, is bad at singing.

For me, it looks like Shinichi is supposed to be a shoujo-tier love interest of the Ran/Shiho-selfinserter.

I don't share the same definition or threshold of the Gary Stu as you so we'll never agree on this. There aren't definitive criteria for something like this since it's a nonstandard subculture term. My image of Gary Stus/Mary Sues are of bland and perfect characters who are easy to self-insert in. And Amuro is close to older Mary Sue fanfic archetypes in how he's a later-introduced character who upstages the MC in being perfect at everything and loved by everyone he meets.
On the other hand Shinichi has traits of the Gary Stu, but also just enough human traits to make him believable as a character who happens to have been born very gifted. So he doesn't meet my threshold for Gary Stu-dom. YMMV.
>For me, it looks like Shinichi is supposed to be a shoujo-tier love interest of the Ran/Shiho-selfinserter.
I can't speak for self-inserters, but in the ShinRan Japanese fandom there is more emphasis on his gap moe and less on his unusual strengths.

No it isn't.

Is he the only shounen protagonist man enough to casually discuss his love interests' breasts to her and tell her she probably doesn't know her body as well as he does?

He's a rare type. There are other MCs with single heroines, but there aren't many like Shinichi who devote themselves totally to the study of one woman for their whole lives.

I found it funny how Shinichi feels comfortable saying all that to a girl whom he isn't dating at either point, whether during the aquarium case flashback or during the phone call. And he says that like he fully expects to be enjoying her breasts in the future, "Don't run or [I'll be] sad [because they'll end up getting saggy]" He's lucky that she secretly feels the same way or else he'd be in trouble.

Stick to the manga or only canon episodes and it's a better experience.

The story hasn't ended yet, but temporary antidotes exist so a permanent one will probably be made at some point. Ran is the only girl he has ever had feelings for and he is dating her now via long distance relationship.

The key wasn't in the same position when they found it in the pocket. Plus, the victim's pocket was too tight for the key to get in because of how the victim was sitting.
The actual solution here is that the victim wasn't dead when they entered the room. The woman who went waking up the victim injected them with poison on the spot

The worst one was that fucking dressing room murder at the mall. The specifics escape me but it was some fucking bullshit about her hand being in a numerical expression used in China that Conan deciphered because he knew she visited there.

How come all episodes and movies that include football are shit? I just watched movie 16 and it fucking sucked.

Personally I find stuff like that boring, but seeing Conan/Shinichi doing stuff related to it is cute and interesting. That's the one where at the end he celebrates a good kick only for him to fuck it up right? Then all the kids help pass him another soccer ball. If so that's the one with the headpats.

Yeah that's the one

I agree. I think football is one of two conan's offensive weapon. He's good with kicking accuracy when he was Shinichi, and power shoes buffs his kick when he's Conan. Football gives Gosho's way to write that Conan could apprehend the criminal even without character with martial arts/law enforcement around, so, more freedom for him to write conan-DB cases.

Cool

>It's another case entirely unrelated to the black organization arc.

Attached: shiver.png (640x480, 527K)

He and his fans he's written to pander to are insufferable. I genuinely can't think of a character more annoying. Genta is small-time and he isn't intended or expected to be good. He and the other 2 kids react in pretty much the same way to things, I can take every 5 episodes with the kids having him say he wants eel on rice which is about a 5 second scene.

Attached: 1543638884379.png (555x629, 326K)

Think about it from the perspective of long-time fans. It feels really strange to have this minor uninteresting character get so much focus all of a sudden. Amuro has a cardboard cutout of a personality in comparison to most anyone else in the cast. He's perfect and that's it, there's no dimension to his character. He doesn't improve the series with his presence, has no bearing on the plot progression since he's just another spy in the BO now, he's just a naked symbol of the cashgrab that DC has turned into, another soulless consumerist experience calculated to rake in maximum ¥¥¥, which in today's industry means pandering to adult women who now make up more than 70% of the DC audience.

It feels sad that a series that once had a lot of heart and sincerity in its early days has been reduced to this.

I didn't mind Akai when he was first introduced, but somewhere along the way he turned into a super-spy/detective, and that turned me off. And I really disliked him getting shoehorned into Shinichi's past. But I guess he's usually inoffensive as Subaru and serves the plot in some way so that's one saving grace.

Stuff like this can be bad but I don't mind most of the other stuff.

From my understanding, Bourbon was meant as guardian of Mouri Detective Agency and Poirot. With Akai as guardian of Haibara-Agasa and DB. That way, they share their responsibility to protect main characters while taking care their own business. Take a look at Rum arc, all three suspects are in good position to give Conan's side a bad time, as reminder Rum is the second in command in BO, so he's right below Karasuma.

What I get from this case is Gosho is trying to push the arc story with Conan discovering Sera's backstory and serves as build up case for the flashback case.

It's interesting to see when many anons already caught up with the story and put their prediction on it.

>Bourbon was meant as guardian of Mouri Detective Agency
Not that user but that's Conan's job, besides the fact that it's his job to protect everyone, he lives there and that's also where Ran lives, it's very personal to protect. Agasa is a lifetime friend as well, along with his new kid friends. Haibara also lives with Agasa. Bourbon doesn't need to be there to protect the Agency and Akai the same with the kids. It's extra insurance sure, but if that's all that matters for their character it's not enjoyable.

Attached: beach op.jpg (853x480, 148K)

>That way, they share their responsibility to protect main characters while taking care their own business.
This is exactly the kind of development I find unnecessary. They never needed knights to protect them. Conan, Haibara, and Agasa always used their own brains to protect themselves and those around them. Ran used her brains and brawn to protect everyone she could when the story let her. There's no need to invent more and more characters to share that responsibility and steal the glory when existing main characters still have important stories to tell.

It's a shame that with Gosho's health issues and the series heading to a close that there are now so many main characters in the cast that need closure, but there may not be enough screentime left to give them all a proper character arc and sendoff.

>Not that user but that's Conan's job, besides the fact that it's his job to protect everyone, he lives there and that's also where Ran lives, it's very personal to protect.
This.

So i just found out there's a Conan & Kindaichi crossover game for the DS. And it's translated!

I already know what I'm going to do this weekend.

Agree with all you said. But conan himself is in a dangerous situation. Remember on how many things conan need to focus on: karasuma, rum suspects (with kohji haneda case as sub-plot), akai is alive, mary and sera's business, also don't forget Shinichi Kudo is dead for BO (I think Vodka will have a huge role on this).

Problem is that now there's too many people in the allies column and not enough people in the BO bad guys column. There's less of a sense of danger when everyone gets their own personal bodyguard.

Really, user? Remember how fucked they are in Mystery Train if Kid wasn't there and help them? You could say every character with martial art is safe but if you remember how BO operates in Yasuteru Domon assassination case and clash of red and black? BO aren't just gin-vodka-vermouth-korn-chianti-(and kir and bourbon), they have many underlings, they even sweep Kudo's mansion after they "killed" Shinichi. Just think what they could do and how close they are with the secret.

Yes, you're right. Especially with Yusaku is directly involved in the game then name dropping Karasuma. Gin said, RUM is a who do as he/she please and carefree type of a person. Let's take a look how close three rum suspects with main characters, Wakita: works right at the side of agency, seen agasa's place, curious and seen how sleeping kogoro operates. Wakasa: teacher in Conan's and Haibara (and db) elementary school, knows Conan's secret with anesthetic gun, shown as smarter than Conan and Kuroda, Haibara seen her and doesn't sense BO present in her. Kuroda: Superintendent in MPD, (allegedly) knows that Conan is behind sleeping kogoro with his "bag of wisdom".
My point is: even with too many people in the allies colum (true), the bad guys are right under their neck this time.

I'm pretty sure that Wakasa is ASCA since she seems like the most dangerous but isn't directly a BO alcohol-agent which is why Haibara didn't pick her up but did pick up Akai.
Wakita seems the most laid back and said the phrase but Kuroda may have also said the phrase regularly and it passed onto the inspector brother of Scotch during his career who said it in the last Kid case with the pearl.

I didn't mind Kid's involvement in the Mystery Train because that was all Conan's plan, and Kid is an old character who shows up now and then after all.

I originally started reading this series to see Conan defeating criminals with his brilliant mind. I would have preferred seeing him get opportunities to come up with plans to defeat them instead of there being genius detectives suddenly appearing left and right to show him up. But it's too late, the scale of it is too large now with the BO extending all the way across the globe to the UK and it probably can't be done with a smaller cast anymore. If the series had been planned to end a decade or more ago then maybe that could have worked out.

The scale of the syndicate reaching global is both interesting and disappointing. It can be cooler this way, but in the beginning it was clearly just thought as a Conan vs a small organization story, with maybe a couple friends.

Attached: Detective Conan map pan.jpg (1563x720, 496K)

Yes, user, every prediction is a fair game until proven otherwise.

I find that's a big deal because it was Kid's second appearance in important BO case in the series. Without him, the one who blown up in the last car is Haibara. Kinda agree with the rest you've said, and now I'm looking in which part of early story that gives gosho opportunity to expand the story? Mantendo bombing case?

I wanna fuck Belmotto. Why is she such a best ?

Delicious chest that the anime graciously kept in.

>I find that's a big deal because it was Kid's second appearance in important BO case in the series.
I didn't see it coming at the time. Makes me think Gosho will find some way to tie Kid into the finale of DC when the BO finally gets taken down.
>and now I'm looking in which part of early story that gives gosho opportunity to expand the story? Mantendo bombing case?
Maybe that was the earliest case where Gosho started taking the BO seriously. It's kind of funny reading interviews where he talks about how he treated the series when he was first starting out. It sounds like DC was basically a detective parody gag manga in his mind initially.
It feels like that sense of fun has been slowly drained out of the series over time.

I think even when the BO was Japan + America, Conan still could have taken down the BO with the help of the FBI. But now, with more and more intelligence agencies from multiple countries involved, how is a little boy, even if he really is a genius teenage detective, going to protect everyone and take down the bad guys himself?

Maybe for a shounen manga there's just too many adults involved now to save the day.

He's not perfect. He caused Scotch's death, has to deal with the people close to him always dying, is emotional even though he tries to pass off as cold and things don't go his way a lot of times.

It's one of the most influential, profitable and long manga. They would be stupid to not take advantage and make money. Amuro has a lot of merchandising like Conan or Kaito, but that doesn't stop Ran, Sera or Ai for getting their own merchandising. Every franchise has a non-main character who is insanely popular.

I'm pretty sure the bride murder made me into a gurofag

20 years later, the detective club reunites to unravel the mystery of which one of them killed their therapist when he used hypnotism to unlock repressed childhood memories.

>Conan-kun, look away

I have a question about physical copies of the manga in English. I know they changed the names, but did they do this only for the first few volumes or is it true for all the volumes? I want to buy the manga but not sure if I'll be able to tolerate the name change. I don't want to read about Jimmy and Rachel, I want Shinichi and Ran.

All of the volumes are like that. You get used to it. The translation is otherwise pretty good, generally far better than the scanlations available on the internet.

Ethan Hondou and his friend who discover his body.

Yeah fuck Amuro, he should have never been introduced in the first place.
Akai was cool becasue he kind of was the brain behind the FBI and it's cool to see that Shinichi still had to carry him.

imagine if jodie shrunk

What comes next user?

she moves in with subaru

I like where this is going.

I only watched Case Closed till like episode 100 and always wanted to know, are they developing the story line at all? Did Conan discovered who the hell is Gin and Whisky or whatever, or is just a thousand filler episodes?

Yes Conan hangs out with best girl who's former BO member who ran away
Conan had a few confrontations with the BO
He also teamed up with the FBI
We know the identity of the Boss

I'm fine with Case Closed but could you really not remember Vodka? No we don't know anything about Gin and Vodka's personal life but the story has technically developed a lot. Shinichi is dating Ran, his parents came back and started living in his house, considering where you are, it's even worth mentioning that he's friends with the girl who made the drug that shrunk him and that she's small too. It sounds like you possibly didn't finish what Case Closed covered, she was in the movies.

Maybe Mayuri? He's the only one left that looks goofy enough to be from One Piece, and he didn't say Bleach.

Oh that's nice to hear, any cool arcs worth checking? Or the story progress in one episode, followed by a bunch "fillers", to then coming back to the story line.

Yes and yes.

>The Man Hated By The Sea

Since you never got beyond CC but hardly remember it, you should know that Harley Hartwell (Heiji Hattori), the dark skinned detective, doesn't actually know anything about the Black Organization. The anime adaption of the manga altered the early case where he finds out their codenames (the one on the train at the beginning originally was Gin and Vodka and not lookalikes), but later Conan just knows who they are, the english dub tried to explain it by making Harley tell him.

If the dub had continued they'd probably pretend it never happened, his later appearances never reference that stuff again, in fact in his first dub appearance he seems to know who Conan is, but in his following appearance the dub doesn't change the script any and he seems to deduce it for the first time like normal. I guess when Conan recalls Harley telling him the names of the two men in black, he's referring to that first appearance where at the end he says something like "If I had known you couldn't handle Chinese liquor I'd have offered you water instead, but it's not half as strong as Gin and Vodka, you should watch out for those two, they're killers."

At the time I don't think Shinichi, or Conan, would have understood that or assumed it was referring to the two men he was after, but whatever.

What episode is this Shinichi from?

Attached: 1537204470347.jpg (600x450, 17K)

I thought it was 219 or whichever started with Kid and Shinichi and that clocktower heist, but it's not supposed to be a cel episode I think. Though Shinichi with a gun from that episode has also had a cel I've seen around.

The classic ones look pretty good. I could buy some cels but I worry I won't be able to store them properly.
