Is he the single greatest manga artist to ever live?
Yusuke Murata
What about the Hiatus King himself?
Can anyone answer me this. How did One's work get to where it is today? His original artwork was such crucial garbage. Did someone pass by one day and see the hidden potential it had beyond the horrible artwork? I mean for OPM and Mob Mob Psycho to go from that awful art work to some of the most influential, popular, and incredibly well animated anime of all time is seriously impressive.
For me, it's Boichi.
>WSJ: Since One-Punch Man was already a successful Webcomic, how did the collaboration with Murata Sensei come about? And was it strange seeing your work drawn by someone else?
>ONE: Murata Sensei just happened to find my website and became interested in One-Punch Man. I had always been a fan of his, so I jumped at the opportunity to work with him. I get really excited seeing my work transformed into something with so much passion and amazing art.
Supposedly he was about ready to quit his webcomic and find a real job before Murata contacted him out of the blue.
One seems like a really cool guy.
He's fast, efficient, and delivers quality. If that means he's the best, perhaps.
But there are other manga artists who also do great work while also writing their own stories.
If you ask me if he's the greatest illustrator in manga, presently I'd answer yes.
no.
This is why there's a distinction of a writer, an illustrator, and a Mangaka. Doing it all yourself is leagues more impressive
The pump bottle is closer to the mirror than the jar but the reflection shows only the jar and not the bottle.
Trash artist. He should kill himself for making that mistake and you should do the same for thinking this hack is "good".
Nope
You have to consider all the aspects of manga art, things like fluidity, composition, paneling, etc., as wells as the different genres. Murata is great at fluid action, cute girls, and color, but in other aspects, many manga artists far surpass him. Since people tend to care only about the first two out of all the aspects, they hail him as the greatest.
His problem is that he relentlessly draws stupid shit. Otherwise, he's a great illustrator.
he is a man of impeccable taste in both male and female forms
Fubuki is gorgeous whatever the case
Baby face on realistic bodies is stupid when Isutoshi did it. That gook boichi is even borderline retarded for following that manga style.
...
Boichi is objectively the best artist in manga. He put to shame guys like Miura or inoue. The only guys Who can actually rival boichi are sinichi sakamoto and kakizaki.
nigga should just make illustration. His style and workpace ruin OPM
Boichi draws good bodies, but the faces are retarded
When One returned to drawing manga in 2011, he was contacted by artistYusuke Murataabout a possible partnership, where Murata would redraw the manga for One. Murata had been an enormous fan ofOne-Punch Man, and was ill at the time.[20]Fearing that he was going to die, he contacted One. Reflecting back he said,"Around that time, I was actually really sick. I broke out in hives, my inner organs were infected, and I couldn't breathe well with my windpipes swelling. I was in the hospital when I thought, 'Ah, I guess people die just like that.' If I'm going to die, I want to do something I really love to do. I want to draw manga with Mr. ONE. That's what I thought."[20]
Murata, an already successful manga artist, used his connections in the industry to get a publishing deal withWeekly Young Jumpcomics.[20]
ONE is better than murata at being a mangaka
>Supposedly he was about ready to quit his webcomic and find a real job before Murata contacted him out of the blue.
Why must you lie? Or do you believe everything on the wiki?
Murata is without equal. I cannot imagine anyone else is as good as he is. My mental image of Murata is a 60 year old master craftsman.
Is he bi?
He draws ridiculously hot men too.
Possibly
Murata definitely confirmed my Bi-ness though
You don't need to be bi to know that appealing to everyone is the best course of action.
His lack of understanding of priorities of storytelling could also indicate he's a psychopath.
>60 year old master craftsman.
90 year old reclusive mountain sensei who draws balancing a top a long 15ft wooden pole in meditative pose. Then his minstrels collect the papers that fall down from the top of the pillar he uses as a drawing table while supplying him with more blank sheets, then those monks trade at the gate of the sacred temple with Craft Lawerences who buy the mystical illustrations and take them down the mountain back to developed civilization to sell for a tidy profit to some Manga company.
Shit that's so fucking hot
Guess I'm going to pick up the manga now
What plebs don't realize is:
Manga is easy.
It's a comic book style, not some Michelangelo shit.
Plenty of manga artists draw well, even exceptionally so, and can produce good art.
This is not something worth arguing about.
The crux is how fast they are. What can they produce within a month and at what quality? How often can they make releases.
Hiatusers are bad manga artists, even if they are decent artists otherwise.
Murata's pretty good if you like both dudes and girls. A good chunk of his chapters are softcore porn of one or the other.
His sun ken stuff was a lot more expressive than his current stuff
He puts a lot of effort but very little heart.
What the fuck does that even mean? Retard
Yea Forums really does enjoy the bare minimum. Cant you people just read doujin and be satisfied.
I don't think that's really true. He just has a style that makes everyone look nice and detailed.
Arata puts him to shame
Yes, that'll do. Seriously though I thought he was some ancient master artist until I saw he was a regular looking salaryman.
That looks terrible, even compared to the stuff Murata draws when he's just bored.
It means his art feels robotic and uninspired. The man does what he knows and doesn't care about doing anything else. He innovates in the amount of generic details he can cram into a panel. A rock there, a bunch of pebbles there, some bricks and another rock, etc. A real artist would try to build up the world through his art but Murata just shows it without expanding it. It's like having toast and jam VS toast and fruit. Jam is the totally functional and appealing to the masses version of fruit. But any cultured indevidual would much rather have freshly cut strawberries on their biscuit than sugary sludge.
He’s very good at drawing things he’s told to. Which makes him a great partner for ONE. However I am very doubtful of his ability to write a coherent and good story
generic af.
That'd be Hirohiko Araki
This.
>biscuit
Should've confirmed you're autismo right at the beginning of your post, would've saved me the trouble of reading
He probably replied to himself with that other post, too. What a faggot.
if murata is so good why does he keep drawing characters always from the same angle
>Boichi is objectively the best artist in manga
He's not Japanese, so he doesn't count as a manga artist.
He's a great technical artist, but I couldn't care less about his work because everything just looks too realistic, like he traced directly off frames from a movie. He has some interesting ideas that were present in the earlier chapters of the OPM redraw, such as his story-board/flipbook like panels that flowed as if animated, or text that interacted with the world itself, but eventually he dropped that so it's just another snoozefest blob of action scenes.
I'd honestly rather just read ONE's storyboards that he has Murata draw over, because I find his style uniquely compelling, whereas Murata analogues are a dime a dozen.
I realize that people here think solely with their cocks, but I find the naked-yet-clothed style to be extremely offputting. It's also completely out of character for Tatsumaki.
some times less is more
This guy gets it
no that would be Shirow
Murata draws way more expressives faces than ONE, you have no idea what you’re talking about.
Currently working? Then it's either him or Oda.
GOAT is still Miura in his prime.
He is a god at drawing hot girls and his action scenes also look pretty cool.
Always kind of a downer when you realize you'll never see fubuki/tatsumaki porn on the same level as the original.
> It's also completely out of character for Tatsumaki.
> frustrasted 28 years old virgin
Sounds in line with her.
>>Boichi is objectively the best artist in manga
>He's not Japanese, so he doesn't count as a manga artist.
worst bait i have seen in years here is your (You) user
ONE does a lot of things amazingly well.
I don't care for the way he does it
no. is this a joke?
All this fucking bullshit about who is better than the other. Those two work together you giant fucking faggots, why can't you just enjoy both for what they are like normal people do?
You're a talentless tard living in your moms basement but look everyone, it's the expert on if something has heart or not
ONE stopped making the good comic for 2 fucking years thanks to murata. Fuck murata, I hope he dies from anal cactus.
>I'd honestly rather just read ONE's storyboards that he has Murata draw over, because I find his style uniquely compelling, whereas Murata analogues are a dime a dozen.
I don't like your opinion, but I am glad you are happy in the way you are.
Not bait, but objective fact.
Bless you user, I hope you have plenty of stuff to enjoy as well
it's so easy to see that about 90% of you know shit about art at all. your all talking straight from your asses. go back to enjoying your shit deviant art tier commissions you all over paid for, you fucking gooks.
>I enjoy the meme scribbles over the actual art so fuck everyone who doesn't share my contrarian snowflake opinion
Yes feel free to go fuck yourself. It's obvious that your flustered ass doesn't give a shit about Murata but you clearly have no respect for ONE either if you aren't able to respect his decisions. You're just a clueless faggot who likes to vent on the internet
I can at least hope ONE stops working with Murata so he can go back to his creatively bankrupt irrelevance
No, but I like him anyway.
>1st semester art student about to share his wisdom of the craft
Please enlighten us oh wise one
While he has great art, I think Ones art suits his work best. But because of Murata he got popular, so I do not mind Murata to much.
I don't know shit about art so I can't properly judge, but Murata's style is just so personally appealing. The male characters look cool, the females look attractive, and the style of action has this really moving feel to it that sucks me in. The way he draws proportions doesn't look wrong to me, and it seems that way in a variety of angles, so I'd want to say he's an objectively good artist. But you know what, who cares if it'd count as being well drawn or not, everything looks so fucking appealing to me and that's what matters
You get it. Murata is amazing in technical skill but that's about it.
I just can't like the pointy egg heads he draws.
>there's people on this board who unironicaly think that other mangakas writing scetching and drawing everything by themselves
I prefer Range Murata
When you don't need to write the story yourself, you can devote more time and effort to just the art.
lolicon confirmed
Greetings bro
is the cat pounding her?
Truth. Dr stone is to mainstream
Oh!Great is amazing, too
Hard to say. His character design is flawless and hes def the best at conveying action through still images. What makes it even more difficult for me to choose is coloring even though mangas are black & white i think the colored versions are the differentiation thats why for me araki is the best, he does almost everything murata does but his coloring is insanely good while muratas is just good.
I see a lot of people saying that Murata is "just" very good technically. I'd like to remind people that if you'd like to see people try to emulate Murata's style have a look at the second season of the anime and you'll see how "just" being technically proficient is actually pretty important.
It's more that he can't draw female characters even if his life depended on it. That one milf was the only one that looked actually somewhat good
Togashi exists.
This!!!
Her female characters in Dr. Stone look like AAAYYY LMAO!!!
My depression kicks in HARD when I have to look at those comparison pics. The people who decided to let JC rape this series should seriously consider hanging themselves
Bros..
I want to have sex with Fubuki and tell her that her sister is better in bed afterwards.
Togashis "art" is more similar to that of ONE though
I'm not arguing against that. I'm just not huge on his style.
>while muratas is just good.
Considering how much he draws & how often I'd guarantee he's a little fucked up. Could be a high-functioning sociopath or something. Most people who *make it* in manga are usually really disturbed in some way, shape, or form. What's true of all of them is that they are extremely obsessive.
Miura and Tagashi confirmed shit.
How does he do that blur? Or is that filtered? That's some next-level illusion shit if that effect is done by hand.
Why aren't the soap and cremes reflected in the mirror?
>do it for her
kek
It's filters. He uses them a lot these days.
Murata's assistants are responsible for a LOT of backgrounds nowadays. Hell, Murata works with a guy who specializes in effects - likely responsible for some of the most interesting panels in the manga. When he had started the manga adaptation, he had to put in more time to the backgrounds yes. As mangaka he's also responsible (along with One) for passing a long a proper storyboard to the assistants. (Think: the car-quake scene with Metal Bat & Garou.) What's definitive is One's say on what gets published and what doesn't - the scrapped scene where Metal Bat knocks the sewer plate back at Garou is a prime example of One's influence over the adaptation.
Murata's work is usually just on the characters these days, as is the case with most successful mangakas, because the man is still juggling several bodies of work too, so it's not like OPM is his only project either. He has multiple deadlines to meet. Mangakas really don't have the luxury of time - Togashi & Miura are seemingly "notable exceptions" to the rule. They're also quite wealthy too, so being wealthy helps in not having to answer to deadlines at the industry-standard pace.
It baffles me, the number of posters believing themselves to be industry experts / part-time aficionados. You've clearly fooled yourselves into thinking you know better than the critics when it comes to analyzing a body of work/workmanship.
As for the thread question, no. He is not the greatest manga artist to ever live. There isn't anyone *that much more* prolific than anyone else to lay claim to that title. That said, Murata is definitely among the best comic illustrators of all-time because of how quickly & efficiently he works.
You should've posted the Metal Knight animation. That'd shut him up for good.
>Murata's work is usually just on the characters these days
He does the backgrounds when it's complex. He definitely drew the Rover punch spread, for example.
It depends. Arts? 10/10, in the top 3 ever alongside Miura and Inoue. Delivery? 10/10, no hiatus, he is usually super regular and able to drop a 60 pages chapter within 2-3 weeks. Storytelling and writings? 4/10, leave it to ONE please.
For me, it's Inoue, Murata and Sakamoto. They've transcended their ability to draw.
itt: people who can't make the distinction between drawing vs. drawing & writing a story.
Nah, he just shows his knowledge of anatomy. He may be, but how he draws is not proof of anything.
>bisexual
>mentally ill
It would add up.
What user said
Everyone knows that Murata doesn't write OPM. You just have autism so you don't understand this.
>When he's bored
You misspelt "horny" user
It's obviously Toyotaro
Kubo
I wish he still did porn
Somebody really needs to breed Fubuki
Sorry i'd love to help but i'm busy breeding Tatsu.
water bottle
I'm so THIRSTY
I'd happily volunteer
That blur isn't here on the original page.
Just a garbage typeset.
No.
>best at conveying action through still images
how many mangas have you read? 5? were they all romcoms too?
No.
>GOAT
Masanori Morita
>Runner ups
Keiichi Koike
Katsuhiro Otomo
Ryoichi Ikegami
Tetsuo Hara
Daisuke Igarashi
Takehiko Inoue
Kentaro Miura
Nice arguments, faggot.
I could have agreed to that. If he could draw female faces.
