Didn't read the latest chapter, that looks gay as fuck, but lemme share my headcanon. Merlin gives half of her power to Escanor, since half of infinity is still infinity it costs her nothing. This allows Escanor to endure Shine again and he gets it back again, too. He is now proud for having such good friends.

It's funny how pretty much everyone seems fed up with this but I'm actually enjoying the current arc. In contrast I found the last arc to be kind of dull with the exception of the Estarossa and Escanor segments. Now there's a DK with a much better design, the teased Indura showing up and things like Ban's sacred treasure and Escanor's powers finally being resolved. I agree that there are some shortcuts taken in terms of the writing, but I don't think the series has ever been very well written so it doesn't really bother me at this point. I'm just in it for the spectacle supported by the visuals.

So far in this arc, I see two problems.
The DK is a fucking jobber. Do something already damnit.
MERLIN. A few weeks ago she saved Elizabeth. And now she asspulled with 0 explanation Ban’s weapon.

For me the spectacle so far has been garbage too, the Demon King has done nothing but get his ass kicked, the Indura looks like shit and has done nothing but get manhandled by the Sins too. Also i disagree that the current DK looks better, giant demon Odin and Meliodas DK looked better, now he just looks like he belongs in Slytherin.

Not really, no. She's kind to a point, but she was always something more than what she presented herself as. You can go back to her conversation with Zeldris where she appears somewhat unhinged, or even further back to when she tells Mel he has to kill Guila's father. I agree that this "reveal" was somewhat mismanaged, but it was hardly a 180 of her character like many people have sperged out about.

DK Mel's design is goofy as hell. He's wearing spandex overalls with some armor on his hands and feet. It doesn't look demonic, intimidating, cool or even practical. It's also very anachronistic but to be fair so are the other Sins' clothes as well.

Since it's still just the DK it feels like a continuation of the same crap.

It doesn't just feel like it, it literally is that. The entire scenario is straight from a JRPG, which makes sense considering Nakaba is a big fan of the genre. You defeat the boss once but then it shows up again a little bit later in a new form. The finale will happen when he goes full one-winged angel and turns into some sort of a monster, which will probably happen once he's thrown out of Zeldris' body.
