When they switched Pokemon dubbing studios in 2006 from 4Kids and got a totally new set of dub VAs. A bunch of people got butthurt. Meowth's trap VA was also mad about losing his/her role and encouraged them to do it.

The Pokemon VAs were non-union guys from New York and barely paid anything compared to the spoiled princesses in Los Angeles. That's on top of New York living expenses and it's not as if voice acting gigs are that abundant there. I'd be mad too if they did that to me/

Also did you know a lot of Pokemon in the Japanese just make generic monster sounds? It was 4Kids' idea that they all had to say their name even though this wasn't true for probably 60% of them in the Japanese (some like Charizard did retain the original voice track).

It's actually just the post you're replying to that's a lie. Pokemon say their names in nip too. Hell, most of the ones that keep their "roaring or animal sounds" in English DO actually say their Japanese names, just in a kinda growly manner that can be a bit hard to recognize as a name, especially to dubfags that don't even know what their Japanese names are.
