David Productions did really well with JoJo, a series that also was said to be unadaptable, so I think they’d be a decent choice for Dorohedoro. They’re still a budget studio though, and while you can tell they were incredibly passionate about JoJo the adaptation is very cheap.

This being a TV anime is what killed it. If it was an OVA series there’d be a chance of it not being garbage looking.

Some studios use CGI for literally anything. And considering how many inhuman things Dorohedoro has, expect them to be CGI. Caiman, Store, the flying broom machine things, maybe the magic smoke, En's mushrooms, etc could all be CGI.

I kind of filed it away in my brain after I finished it, but this page made me want to look for a thread.

I'll be very surprised if the anime turns out well. It's tempting to imagine how things like Nikaido skateboarding around Hole could ideally be realized, but it will probably end up that the show is too bright, stiff, low detail, and directed without much creative independence -- a panel-by-panel adaptation, minus half the panels. I get the unfortunate sense that it'll turn out embarrassing if they try to do anything original or gimmicky, which they just might.

I do want it succeed -- it's a series that deserves notoriety -- but it also holds personal value as an experience that's out-of-the-way and generally divorced from everyday consciousness and discourse. I hope the threads will be pleasant.

I didn't remember that Dorohedoro had so many chapters. It's around the same chapter count as Monster and probably similar page count per chapter from what I remember. Could maybe stand to have a faster pace though. But 60-75 episodes might work.

What was up with all the heart imagery surrounding Shin? There are some early chapters where it looks like he has heart problems, but was it ever elaborated on?

The series is roughly 4500 pages long and chapters average like 26 pages or something like that. Assume that each episode adapts 2 full chapters and you get roughly 52 pages per episode. 4500 divided by 52 is roughly 86. 86 is not a multiple of 12 or 13, the average cour lengths in modern anime. The closest multiple of 12 or 13 to 86 is 84, ie 7 cours of 12 episodes. These 7 cours could be divided up into a multitude of different seasons, like 2 24 episode seasons and 1 36 episode season, whatever works for pacing and production.

84 episodes total seems realistic to me. Probably not ideal but at least realistic. Autism user out.

I really need to re-read this. The first time, I couldn't keep everything straight with Kaiman, No-Cross Eyes Kaiman, Kaiman grown from a head, Ai, Aikawa, and Kai. I remember them being something of a hydra but was unsure about how they all individually came to be - especially when Risu and Curse became entangled.
By the way, anyone else remember that location Hydra Forest? Must have been foreshadowing.

Guys I come from the future and the anime is produced by Toei. They adapt a single chapter per episode.

I don't know if I've ever seen a mangaka as based as Hayashida. First off, how many manga even have an OST? Next, think about the work that would go into finding all the artists she thought would represent the manga well, and consider how rare it is in Japan to reach out to foreigners at all either out of it being difficult to bridge the culture divide or out of simple apathy.
