Nah, they could have met or talked during that time if Robi really did return Hachi's money and Robi gave him the crystal as something to remember him and their trip. It was very rare and if Robi was that greedy then he would have sold it but he gave it away as a keepsake and souvenir. He was really touched by Hachi's feelings.

That wasn't the only important part though; it also focuses on the guys bonding and the journey the three of them shared together.
It is a nicely finished story but there is room for more fun travels if they go out on a diplomatic mission, or just go looking for happiness in Izumondar, like in the joke sequel teaser at the end.

What plot and secrets are you talking about? Robi ran to Isekandar from his debts and he is broke, once again. As for secrets - sure, there was a mystery about Hachi's history and lineage with theories from first episodes being correct anyway, and, I guess, the whole Hizakuriger thing, which was more of a gag than a story device. It's a planet of the week anime, for god's sake.
