It's a shame the author doesn't handle familias well. No good power balance and too extreme bias toward Greek Gods. The Eastern Gods are treated more for comedic purposes than as equals. And the bad gods are just random gods with no basis in real life mythology.

This is why Danmachi would not be a good MMO or even a good game. There's just too much bias for certain region's gods.

Also depending on the time period, certain gods in Danmachi already lost and either exiled from the city or forced to go back to Heaven so it kinda kills variety. If you entered the world right now, Loki Familia would have too high an advantage against other familias.

Basically, I feel the author is too much of a Greekaboo. If I was the author, I would have used the Cardinal Directions as a source of conflict and rivalry with each direction in the city representing the most famous of Eastern, Western, Northern, and Southern mythology but what's done is already done.

The author could at least have saved some major Greek gods from seemingly kicked out of the game already like Zeus and Hera. Hell, Ares turned out to be just an idiot which was very surprising.

The three biggest familias in terms of city influence are Freya (Norse), Loki (Norse), and Ganesha (Hindu). Outside of the main city the story takes place, Ares runs a country, as does Kali. I can't think of many other gods that are giant big shots other than Uranus which runs the guild without giving blessings and possibly Poseidon who only cares about hunting sea monsters abroad

It would subvert the entire concept of the familia system to introduce the Chinese myth.

I think falna is what they call the stats themselves, which go up from killing and fighting things. The level up itself has only to do with fighting something that put the person in significant danger. All that the gods actually do for a person is give them the ability to grow. The skills and magic are a reflection of the person, and the growth themselves is from the person fighting monsters (or really anything tough enough) and winning. I think a god can lock one of their own people's status away though, and a patron god dying does that automatically.

You're right that all the falna does is give them the capability to grow and that they earn their abilities on their own. And yeah, if the god that gave them their falna doesn't level them up then they're fucked. That's basically what Lily's situation was in Soma Familia. And they can't join another familia and get their god's falna unless their current god releases theirs. I'm not really too sure what happens in the case of gods being sent back because in the LN there are some adventurers that join other familias after their god is sent back, but I don't know if they get a new falna or not.

There's only a handful of places we really even know about outside of Orario, but that doesn't mean there isn't a world's worth of other shit out there. The only other countries that we even know are Ares' and the Amazon one and only the latter really has anything said about it in detail. The story's scale just isn't meant to go far from the one town at this point. As far as Zeus' attention span goes he's also still working on god time and there's definitely something all the gods know and aren't telling about dungeon and why they are even appearing in the world

If I had to choose between fast exp protagonist and time skips I would choose fast exp every time. If the character's goal from the start wasn't about catching up to someone I would possibly agree with you, but your complaint isn't really suited to the plot

Giving the MC a special ability isn't inherently a bad thing, what matters is what the writer does with it. Fast growth isn't an instant win button unlike many what actual narou type isekai cheats are, when he is still well outmatched every time he meets another adventurer who is a level above him, which is practically every volume. Letting him level up faster just speeds up the plot. It's not as high he jumped to level 7 in one volume by discovering one neat trick that nobody has ever thought of.

I always felt that Bell was Diomedes since both share some similar traits. For example, Diomedes's name is associated with Zeus, he is also one out of the two only Greek heroes (Achilles) that got equipment personally crafted by Hephaestus, Hera's son, and one of Diomedes's special ability was the ability to spam fireballs.

Also, Jason of the Argonauts was accidentally called Diomedes due to a translation error during the 17th century and we know that Bell eventually gets a skill called Argonaut.

The fireball spamming was a unique feature of Diomedes and like I mentioned, only Achilles and Diomedes ever got to use something made by Hephaestus.

The biggest difference was that Diomedes was Athena's favorite while in Danmachi, Bell is taken care of by Hestia instead of Athena.

But if you think about it, Athena was a virgin like Hestia, too.

I guess the author may have mixed a little bit of Thesesus into Bell but there are traits of Diomedes too when you consider combat equipment.

Best example of this is probably the short story set during volume 7. When Bell stumples upon Aiz, Lefiya, and rest rest after he was chased through the Pleasure district.

She didn't understand why him going there bothered her so much, only that it did.

I think the most recent volume, which is mostly filler honestly, mentioned they were waiting on it. Since if he leveled up they would take penalties from the failed expedition or something like that.

Fighting Orario is basically tugging on superman's cape. Their merchants talked the guild into not killing people so they could sell more potions because of how outmatched Ares' army was. The whole thing turned out to be a diversion to kidnap Welf though, as his magic swords are kind of an insane military advantage. Anyway unless you're a time traveler from fucking Sparta you're probably used to hearing about Ares losing by now

I don't like how author handled Ares. Hermes actually thought it would be interesting if Ares was introduced to Bell through Hermes.

Imagine if Bell was the one who was kidnapped. The Guild would not have sent Ais to rescue Bell because Hestia was more valuable to the Guild than an adventurer like Bell so high level adventures were ordered to rescue Hestia.

If it was Bell that was kidnapped, Guild would have still prevented high level adventures from leaving the city so there was a very, very high chance Bell would have been successfully taken away to Ares' kingdom.

Before finishing the volume, I was hoping for Bell's turn to be a damsel in distress and be forced to live with Ares for a few months and maybe learn something from Ares.

I'll put it this way, the Orario dungeon crawling familias grinded up to ubermensch status against world-ending tier monsters whereas Ares Familia spends all their time fighting normalfags.

I'm struggling of thinking a way for Daedalus to have figured out a way to dig to the Water Dungeon levels where everything is made of crystal because digging through crystal seems awfully hard and isn't digging through wet soil kinda dangerous due to stuff like flooding and sinkholes?

Also, Daedalus made use of unknown safe points where monsters don't spawn nearby. Does that mean every level of the Dungeon has an unknown secret region safe point only people like Daedalus descendants or Fels discovered?

Shame Bell can't reveal safe spaces to the guild anymore because Xenos are using them now.

Did it really only go down that far? I thought it went deeper and just had an exit on L18, but I could be wrong. As for whether it would have ever been finished, I doubt it. It's amazing it went undiscovered for so long.

I don't think monsters can spawn in Knossos because of the mythril walls or whatever so if they clean it out then the whole thing would be a safe route to L18.

It means the Adventure Town in Level 18 can finally be controlled by the Guild. No more ruffian controlled town/

Guild could turn Knossos into another luxurious marketplace and also put a big hospital inside Knossos.

People in Level 18 wouldn't be able to rip people off in prices anymore since goods and shops can directly travel to Level 18 without worry of monsters.

The Guild could finally create an official guild headquarter in Level 18 and maybe open an official hospital as well.

And you know what Bell should so? In return for Knossos, Guild should demand percentage of the profits of any shop or store that decides to open a stall or stand inside Knossos, which guarantees a steady stream of income for Hestia

As for space spaces, I am talking about the hidden safe spaces in the Tree Labyrinth place that is hidden behind crystals/

Fels said multiple safe spaces unrevealed to adventures got turned into Hidden Xenos Villages.

If the Xenos didn't exist, there would be more safe spaces available to adventurers in the dungeon and Bell would be rewarded for finding them.

Also, using Knossos, a tourist who is Level 0, basically no familiar and no blessing, can finally have a chance to safely tour the dungeon at Level 18 and just imagine the tourism profits.

Even the kids at the orphanage can use Knnossos to tour Level 18 without worry.

And you know the huge ass crystals in Level 18, people can now easily break apart the crystals and use Knossos to take it to the surface as slowly or as fast as they want, because they don't have to worry about monsters.

The biggest crystal in Level 18 acts like an artificial sun. It used to be too big and too heavy to carry to the surface.

Now you can break apart that big crystal in Level 18 and take it to the surface and earn a shitload of money.

Imagine how many magic stone lamps could be made from that large crystal that acts like a fake sun in Level 18.
