Basically wondering other people's opinion of the matter. A discussion went on about cosplay and I stated, "I'm not a fan of when fat people cosplay as thin characters or when black people cosplay as white characters". Now I meant it all vice versa because I love cosplays which are well done and are very accurate to the character portrayed. I think people should do it if they enjoy it but it may not be a good cosplay from my viewpoint. I was instantly though labelled as a racist and forced to apologize which didn't meet their desires because I apologized for saying it badly and wouldn't say the opinion was wrong. I got a fucking ton of hate from the other club leaders (I was actually the Vice President) by being called tons of horrible things and then forced to resign a day later. All because I loved accurate cosplay.
Did they overreact? or is it just me who thinks that way?
I agree with you but joining the anime club was probably your first mistake if you’re expecting those type of people to be reasonable or rational.

If you cosplay characters whose appearance you faill to match then you're not better than a tranny who like to play dressup. If you actually have a passion for cosplaying you will cosply as something that is believable. They are in the wrong because their feefees were hurt and that's something they can't deal with. If you don't care about the quality of your dressup show then don't complain about peole calling you out for its terrible quality. If you care then you'll lose weight. A cosplay can still be well-done even if the person's race / body type doesn't match it. Your physical appearance doesn't affect your ability to make a good, accurate costume. Would you consider a skinny white girl wearing a shitty, low-effort costume to be a better cosplayer than a fat girl wearing a high-effort costume? Of course they overreacted. But you have to know how to play your crowd if you want to be part of a group. If you are in an anime club the people running that club will typically be a more progressive, this is just a trend I have noticed. Just like the people who organize events at conventions, they are all usually very progressively minded people.
If you say something that goes against all their mutual beliefs, what do you expect would happen? I think the best cosplays are accurate cosplays like you, and I think fat people are disgusting. But claiming that fat people and people who aren't the race of the original cosplayer characters, can't do cosplay well would obviously piss those people off.

Maybe posted in the wrong Yea Forums area but I honestly dont care, tried posting this on Reddit but the rules basically made it impossible and never used Yea Forums before. But yeah, my biggest mistake was yeah, joining the club. I literally made a quiz too which had a trap section... had to be cut because it was apparently "transphobic". Anyways, I did say I think people should cosplay no matter what if it makes them happy, just that I may class it as shit because it's my opinion. I think my main problem was the fact i got labeled as a Racist and kicked from the club over it. Another member was over joyed, he'd literally been talking to others behing my back to kick me for months, he is a fucking asshole.
