I identified with Gohan so strongly as a kid, his growth from this shy kid whose true potential was hidden before becoming the ultimate badass who doesn't care anymore. I tried so much to emulate him in school and then got expelled in 6th grade when I threatened to shoot a kid after he laughed at me. No shame though.

Okay? Wasn't in the manga. Wasn't in the anime. "Word of God" is always just a desperate excuse to justify bad writing. The senzu was stupid. Gohan not killing Cell was stupid. Dragon Ball, at least Z, was always stupid. Vanilla was stupid but you could excuse a lot more in light of it be largely a comedy.
