I swear to God, Retsuko will be the next Accounting Manager either her office or some remote branch. Ton and Retsuko have this weird mentor-student thing I often see most of the time.

It's very obvious Retsuko craves some small amount of power so she can abuse others. That's why she spends so much time around Gori and whatever that bird lady's name is. Retsuko's dream is to have a husband and kids. He didn't. She made that clear in the Karaoke and they had a mutual understanding and they called it quits.

Marriage is nothing in the way of "This makes my love eternal for you" or something like that. But it meant so much for Retsuko. He could've been "Ok let's do it" and nothing would change but he didn't want to. They both had strong beliefs and they just weren't compatible.

When the news broke out about Retsuko's relationship to Tadano and Haida was on the phone with Fenneko, I noticed that the camera was super close up on his face. I was really hoping it would snap back to show Haida on the edge of a building just for some seriously dark comedy.

I really hated Retsuko's reasons for breaking up with him but the show did a good job of showing you how incompatible the two really were. Tadano was nice but when you think about it, since Retsuko got with him all she did was sleep in his limo, shut herself off from everyone, and follow him around like a doll. It's obviously not the life Retsuko wanted and doesn't seem to be a hint of fulfilment in the future. Marriage and children are overrated but they would at least give Retsuko something to look forward to rather than the standstill a relationship with Tadano would have been.

In the grand schemes of things, he's an idiot.
He claims that marriage/kids is old fashioned and therefore he'll never want to get married, but that thought leads to extinction, which is actually the current problem in Japan, because of people with the same dumb mindset as him.

Eliminating japans oppressive work culture and actually allowing other people the free time to have kids would be more effective than sacrificing his dream and raising kids of his own if that was your goal.

He would literally only need to enable 2 couples to have kids for it to be more effective than having kids himself.
