Why is Seishun Buta Yarou so underrated here on Yea Forums when literally anywhere else everyone agrees that it's a masterpiece?

But the hatred against this series is not normal.

It aired in the same season as SSSS Shitman and was vastly better and more popular. As a result the triggernigger cult hate it. It was Anime of the Year 2018.

Because neither Yea Forums nor "everybody else" have good taste. It is not bad anime but it is not extremely good either. It was one of the better shows that Fall 2018 could offer but this is pretty much it.

Horny teens got mad that there was almost no bunny suit as advertised.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first part of it mostly because the dialogue was very true to the experience of dating and being in a relationship with a girl, so, something most of Yea Forums wouldn't necessarily understand or appreciate
Also she wears the bunny outfit what, twice? If you were attracted to the show just for fetish purposes you can't help but be disappointed
But I can't recommend the series because what happened to the MC's little sister is a fucking nightmare and the way it's handled in the story is atrocious

It was definitely one of the better anime just the bullshit science explanations are beyond ridiculous but the S-tier waifus make up for it.

What exactly was wrong with how it was handled, other than the last episode feeling lackluster since it isn't an actual ending? It did not end up the way I imagine most of the audience wanted it, but that in and of itself is not a problem.

Pretty sure the 'explanations' are actually more metaphor/allegory in the story than actual explanations of in-universe mechanics.

Monogatari done right and with way better backgrounds.

Because other places have shit taste? I don't know, don't ask me to account for them. The concept was standard "MC meets a bunch of girls with issues to solve" type stuff, and most of the scenes / conversations and characters felt dull, so I dropped it early on.

Enjoying fiction because it's true to life is something I will never ever understand.

Gridman unfortunately went to crap as it went on, but it started off with potential, which is more than I can say for this.

Dropped it after episode 1 when they started talking about pseudoscience and Schrödinger's cat.
MC is such a self-insert, it made me physically cringe everytime he opened his mouth.
At the end of the day, it's just an incredibly bland and uninspired Monogatari ripoff.

Nah, it was a steaming turd from ep1. It was full of cost cutting 3d and the little animation there actually was, was still utter dogshit. Don't get me wrong though, i was hyped for gridman. Trigger cultists told me that because A1 weren't involved this would probably have better animation than franxx. I can't believe i took them seriously. It's just classic trigger garbage. Shit that is overhyped and massively underperforms. Bunny senpai was actually entertaining and the MC is relatable.
