Companies like Netflix, Amazon don't care about providing as much information as possible. Hence you get untranslated signs etc.
Plus they are miles behind CR in subtitle flexibility (can't change text colour, can't place text in several places).

You will not get many objective opinions here because people get very attached to exact versions of things (the Star Wars: Special Edition effect).
Its a perfectly serviceable dub. There are no major flaws. People will just get hung up on any sort of differences. My advice is to search the Fly Me to the Moon ending theme on YouTube to play when you start resenting it’s absence.

shinji/kaworu dialogue is not wrong. actually most Japanese think it fits with the nuance the original had. no one thinks shinji and kaworu is in gay relationship in Japan.

english dub was fine in the original, im at like episode five and the new ones ok-ish.. rei kinda sucks in terms of acting. I would bet money that it's going to go to shit when asuka/kaji enter the mix though, the two most unique voices in the show that have ever since been toned down to please the normies.
