I would take a complementary movie about the kappa kingdom and ReoMabu growing up until the twitter or a remake movie.
I don't think a sequel movie would really help, as much as I loved the anime I think it needs to be fleshed out more on it's past and present rather than future because most people seem to feel the relationships between the trio and the Kappa/otter conflict left a lot ot be desired and the ReoMabu content being behind side media hurts the relationship if you didn't watch it on release and only know the anime.

The first light novel is a non-divergent novelization of the first half of the anime, and it includes one scene (backstory for Reo and Mabu) that does not appear in the anime but has one tiny reference. The writing does feature extra details that are absent from the anime.
The second light novel is out next month and will have more scenes with Reo and Mabu that were not present in the anime. It's not confirmed that the novel will follow the same path as the anime, as far as I know.
The yet-unreleased (aside from the first chapter) manga drawn by Migi will have a story that diverges from the anime.

The ReoMabu manga and Twitter were purposely released before the anime aired to familiarize the audience with Reo and Mabu before the anime depicted their suffering. That's my main problem with the parallel narrative. Kazuki simply doesn't love Enta that way. You can't make a parallel between two relationships if they're not on the same subject matter. Hence why especially after the ending it seemed to me Ikuhara wanted to say much more from the trio's bond, and by doing that also solidify Reo and Mabu relationship as something unique to them rather than something thematic.
