They also cut how Ariel tried to rape Sylphy with a condom. There’s nothing dumb about it Mushoku’s world has legit people touched in the head. The morals are not different ironically either, it’s not a comedy.

It’s not only the fights but I felt the characters weren’t just one dimensional tropes you see in a lot of narou works and I mean the supporting cast. They all had their thing going on and there was no villain in the series that were evil for the sake of being evil:

What's wrong with him stopping his magic training? He might lose out in personal power but his vast network of friends, allies, and mercenaries, political power, and technological innovations he's helped spread probably makes up for it. His information network is especially important given they are going to have to deal with Laplace at some point and need to find him before he can cause massive amounts of damage. Also it's not like there are that many people who could beat him in a fight anyways.

And if manga is to be believed they toned down some of the more 'creepy' stuff, butchered shirone arc and Zanoba's characterization of how he's a psychopath who killed his own wife by crushing her head, added some extra cliche characters which serve no purpose like some mercenary guy attacking the beastmen village and so on.

It’s just that the tone of the manga is different and all the worldbuilding as well as character’s inner thoughts and like 80% of the story goes out of the window. Manga for MT is basically a slideshow of important plot points. The story doesn’t really have a stopping point so it’s not really suited for manga/anime adaption not to mention how they toned it down with the “unpleasant” stuff to not scare away the wider audience.

Overlord is like that too if you’ve ever read that LN and then bothered with the manga and anime.

He marries Slyphy and stays loyal to her. However after butchering the rescue of his mom and watching his father die he enters a deep state of depression and won't even get out of bed. Probably has something to do with his past life of not even knowing his parents died and his feelings of failure dredging up. Eventually Roxy sorta seduces him hoping it wakes him up out of his depression, which works and Rudy goes home. On the way home, Rudy is put through a scare that Roxy is pregnant and flips out, begs Slyph saying he needs to take responsibility, Slyph being the cuck queen agree's. Later Rudy meets his future self, future him goes through some shit but realizes you can basically do anything with magic except enter the domain of god if he doesn't wish you to. Future Rudy does realize he can time travel and save his younger self before everything goes wrong. He gives himself the prophecy of the future, his diary and tells him he needs to make up with Eris and make her a wife or bad shit will happen, future rudy dies because he forgot to time travel his inner organs. This is probably the most awkward marriage, but is smoothed over when she saves his ass when he fights and gets his ass kicked by Orsted. Slyph is the cuck queen and Roxy is already cuck princess.

He simply took advantage of an opportunity that was presented to him. As for his transformation half of it is him LARPing as a person who is better than himself and the other half of it is just having something to live for.

He loses all his best friends to misfortunes. Eris keeps chasing him around and keeps defeating him in duels. Rudy goes to try and defeat some demon queen and watches Eris get killed. Spends the rest of his life studying magic realizing you can basically do anything with it, but finds out its impossible to get revenge on hitogami in his life time. His goal becomes to research time travel and save his younger self and warn him about how hitogami fucks with him but not to waste his time trying to get back at hitogami because its impossible.

Yeah, he ends up having multiple kids with his wives. His kids and decedents end up growing up to be Orsteds ally's that will eventually defeat and seal hitogami which is why hitogami is trying to fuck with Rudy's life.
