Sword Art Online : Progressive

Admit it Yea Forums, SAO progressive will be the best reboot off all time. Even better than FMAB. Shitty sites like MAL and reddit will praise it like no tomorrow with NovelChads calling them out on their hypocrisy.

too bad asuna is a main character in it

>Progressive
So is everyone a tranny now?

Hardly even a reboot, it's pretty much a different story.

So how does progressive actually improve upon SAO other than properly exploring the first arc of the series? Are Kirito and Asuna the same or are they better characters? Someone who reads this, please gimme a rundown.

>it's pretty much a different story.
FMA B was the same except for the first few episodes.

>Are Kirito and Asuna the same or are they better characters?
They are explored quiet well as individuals. Also kirito is pretty much beaten by a fellow beater on the second floor. He doesn't come off as OP in the original series. Also the world building of each floor is quiet well done and is very detailed.

It doesn't. I read 4 volumes and it's some boringass, uninspired slice of life drivel that carries all the flaws of the original work, but forgot everything that made it interesting. Yea Forums bashing SAO but praising progressive is the ultimate proof of user's shit taste

>Asshole Kirito
>Smug Asuna
>everyone is more explored further than "random friends along the way" or "required asshole enemies"
>finally what happened on more floors instead of "timeskipping to the important parts"

best of all time, no
better than the original, and what should have been from the begining
Art by Tawawaman helps, but it's not going to push it into GOAT territory

>I read 4 volumes
Why are you lying on the internet?

>Yea Forums bashing SAO
>Exposing yourself as a newfag this easily

WHERE ARE MANGA SCANS

What about that could be a lie? It takes barely half an hour to read through one volume of this shallow garbage.

>takes barely half an hour
>Reading 200 pages in half an hour
>Exposing yourself as a speedreader

stop using the word quite so much if you don't know how to spell it

>under 200 pages that's mainly just a list of dialogue and sound effects

Read a real book for a change, brainlet

>Is exposed as a speedreader
>Calls others brainlet

FOR REAL, THERE HAVENT BEEN ANY NEW CHAPTERS FOR SOME MONTHS NOW

Read the novels, they have covered till the 6th floor.

They already fucked up Progressive by letting Himura Kiseki leave. The new author is absolute trash.

Kek

Progressive cements Asuna as the best girl once and for all. Although mother's Rosario was enough to prove that. Unironically the best arc from the original series, second to progressive.

>Implying the novels aren't superior to the manga

uh huh

Ordinal scale was good too.

She was pretty good in the latter half of Alicization as well.

Bump.

It is pretty good and I bought the volumes so far but I can already feel my interest fading because in the end it will always just be endless episodical stories about each of the damn 75 flying castle levels and we will never see all of them anyway unless the author keeps writing these for the next 50 years.
It's also kinda repetetive after a while.

>It's also kinda repetetive after a while.
Reki will probably change the format of the volumes, it won't be 1 floor per volume till the end. Not to mention he will skip some floors as kirito and Asuna do split up after clearing the 25th floor as she joins KOB.

The manga adaptation of Progressive feels almost like SAO Abridged at times. It's told from Asuna's perspective, makes jokes at Kirito's expense, and has tons of smug faces.

There's a scene where Kirito sulks for days because Asuna got an overpowered weapon upgrade and he didn't. Followed by:
>NPC: "...a good weapon."
>Kirito: "Wait, you can talk?! I've been to your smithy dozens of times, and the only response I got was 'Heh'. How come you never talked to me?"
>NPC: *smirks* "Heh."

was progressive written like right after aincrad or was it way later? with what i know about it, it seems like it was written way later to address popular complaints

Way later. Aincrad is from 2002, and Progressive started in 2012.

>popular complaints
Reki started writing it in 2012. The first volume was released few months after the first season started airing. Also he doesn't care about e-celebs who's primary income for living comes from shitposting about SAO.

>Also he doesn't care about e-celebs who's primary income for living comes from shitposting about SAO.
Yeah, most of the complaints about SAO are things that he freely acknowledged back in its days as an online story. The harem happened because he wanted to make volume 2 a series of vignettes where Kirito teams up with different people, and didn't think through the consequences. After Fairy Dance, he apologised for making Asuna useless and promised to give her an arc of her own to make up for it (which became Mother's Rosario).

SAO only got published because people were interested in his second online story, Accel World (which he designed from the ground up to "not repeat SAO's mistakes"), and decided to license his older work too. But then the studio behind the Accel World anime created Love Live, which killed any chance of a sequel.

Is it still a harem shit series?
Because I have a feelings it's still harem shit.

Nah, Asuna is the only female character who shows any kind of interest in Kirito, and it's set in the timeskip before any of the haremettes from the original series show up.

So basically that means when the story progresses to that point, it's going to turn to harem shit again.

In the original story, Kirito and Asuna only met each other on floor 50 or something. In Progressive they've worked together right from the beginning (because Kawahara now thinks that their relationship advancing so quickly was dumb). The anime borrowed their initial meeting from Progressive, but nothing else.

Asuna is literally perfection and Kirito is an idiot for trying to have a harem while dating her

>But then the studio behind the Accel World anime created Love Live, which killed any chance of a sequel.
Everything about the Accel World anime, down to the music, the character designs, and even the English dub were better than SAO's. But SAO got tons of marketing budget, while AW got stuff like Infinite Burst which was a blatant attempt to kill the franchise.

Right now Kawahara seems worried that executives will move onto adapting SAO spinoffs by other authors, and AW will be forgotten. So in the first volume of SAO's sequel arc he had an AW character's mother show up, in an attempt to retcon AW itself into being part of the SAO franchise.

Be quite, im trying to think
