It has been seven months without HunterxHunter, bros. We've missed over 28 potential chapters. I am getting worried.
What is happening? Is Togashi butthurt that Araki called him a Stone Man in JoJolion? Is Togashi trying to set a DQXI speedrun record? Is Togashi giving the Keyakizaka46 idols the Tags:age-difference, bbm treatment? Is he actually finishing the script of the whole arc so he can try to finish the manga at normalish pace instead of with 6 month hiatuses?
I love Togashi's work but it is clear to me he doesn't give a shit about his fans. He's going to fucking die before we get any meaningful conclusion to the manga. He just needs to outsource the drawing already and focus on the story, it's not like the illustration is the highpoint in that manga anyway
Matthew Richardson
I assume he decided to spend the summer on vacation with his family in some luxury resort instead of sitting for 2 months on his desk and drawing comics. He'll be back after summer.

They are both multimillionaires and most definitely don't need to work to live.

Stone men need hibernation periods in Jojolion so the narrator in Jojolion says that mangaka who take long hiatus are suspicious of being Stone men. That is all.

I can tell this is your first hiatus. During the Chimera Ant arc, just in that scene when Netero pointed to Gon where Pitou was, he took a 2 year long hiatus. What would you have done then? He also took a 1 year hiatus in that scene where Netero was about to start fighting Meruem after he baited him with the name.

From Ishida's statement about him visiting Togashi in 2016. That's why I love Togashi, he still puts so much effort into his masterpiece, despite having health problems and enough money to retire for 100 lifetimes, that's the definition of a real artist.

What confuses is if he's a billionaire surely he can afford treatments to fix his back pain. Assuming it isn't some sort of horrible uncureable disease he has, theres nothing a chiropractor/some surgery/meds can't fix.

7 months is a long time to not get a chapter for both weekly and monthly manga. Who are you that more than half a year isn't a long time? Are you an immortal?
Matthew Allen
It was a 2 year hiatus before Hisoka vs Chrollo. And yes, the wait was absolutely worth it with the mindblowing density and composition of those chapters. That's why I laugh at newfags who don't understand that genius takes time. Weekly manga is 99.9999999% garbage (especially in Jump) because being forced to churn out shit weekly is antithetical to true artistry.
It’s probably just ignorance. His back pain more than likely comes from the terrible posture most mangaka have when drawing. I’d imagine decades of that would fuck up your spine. He should hire a kinesiologist or something and get his shit fixed before it’s too late.
Carter Harris

There is no cure for back pain. Surgery has risks and can just make things worse. Chiropractors are just practicing pseudoscience and can make things worse. If you have back pain you are fucked until you kill yourself or you can get addicted to pain mediation until you kill yourself.
Kevin Adams
HxH has had at least 1 year hiatuses more often than not. The recent hiatuses were shorter but that was a luxury, not something to get used to. I'm glad so many newfags are getting to experience the true schedule of HxH.

The 2006 Hiatus was my first if I recall. I caught one of the Chimera Ant gaps in real time back when Onemanga used to be a thing and the series just stopped on the Gungi game.
>but it is clear to me he doesn't give a shit about his fans One of the reasons he's still doing this series is because he values the readerbase. If people ever stopped meeting whatever metric he uses to gauge interest he said he'll stop.
>Chiropractors are just practicing pseudoscience and can make things worse. idk man, I suffered plantar fascitis so severe I was left in a wheelchair for almost 2 years until I decided "fuck it" and went to a chiropractor my family recommended even though I thought they were all hacks too. I was walking again within 3 months when no amount of steroid injections or doctor visits could help me. Don't be so quick to dismiss all of them, if it was really as bad as he says he would consider all his options.
Luis Ross
You are obviously a newfag. There's nothing to make excuses for, HxH has always been released in intervals of at least 1 year and that's the schedule that allows Togashi to maintain his unmatched quality of storytelling. Chimera Ant was published from 2003 to 2011 and only had 3-4 years worth of chapters (in weekly terms). Demanding faster releases is the same as demanding the series to go downhill.
>s-stop insulting Togashi's laziness and lack of work ethic >I like eating shit half a year at a time
Been reading HXH since around the middle of the Chimera Ant Arc. There is no excuse for such a shitty release schedule other than Togashi just not wanting to work. I'm not as delusional as you are in thinking that HXH is some masterpiece because I actually read manga and don't spend my entire day (and year) sucking off Togashi.

>I actually read manga What do you think people do when there isn't an HxH chapter? There's other shit to read and other things to do with your life than obsess over one comic so if you can't think of anything more productive to do with your time that complain about a non-issue that's your problem exclusively. I'm not going to pretend that it's not frustrating when a story gets cut off, moreso if there's the possibility of the author croaking before the story is finished. But at this point any long-time reader of HxH understands what the releases are going to look like and we've all hunkered down for the long haul.
Now if you don't like the story itself than that's just pathetic you'd even be in this thread. Imagine shitposting about a series you don't like that doesn't even have any new content to talk about? Imagine doing that for god knows how long instead of reading manga you do like and talking about those.

Tserriednich's ability isn't exactly the same as King Crimson. Togashi obviously nicked King Crimson (every Hunter x Hunter primary antagonist was a JoJo primary antagonist), but he changed it to work how he wanted it to work. It could be he changed it because he didn't want people to think he just stole it verbatim (15% chance this is the case) or Togashi just didn't think King Crimson made sense in the world of Nen (10% chance this is the case) or it could be that he thought it'd be more interesting this way (75% chance this is the case). The thing about King Crimson is it's really great for creating this sense of mystery and it goes well with JoJo's fate theme, but Togashi is more interested in the peculiar interactions of well-understood mechanics and King Crimson is just too powerful, it really renders all interactions void. Tserriednich's power, conversely, lets Togashi create Uchiha-esque moments and it isn't so far-fetched within Hunter x Hunter -- it's somewhere between Lovely Ghost Writer and Perfect Plan. Togashi has a lot more room to allow Tserriednich to be defeated or put in a bad position this way, especially because the focus is on Tserriednich being imperceptible as opposed to others simply being locked into fate.
Maybe they're buddies and share ideas with each other. That's the case with Kishimoto and Togashi, too. I don't mean to call Togashi a hack when I say that.

Happening on a weekly basis. Where's yours? Pfft, hell no. It's nowhere NEAR as good as JoJo.
The manga is about as gay as YYH. Meaning you can read some things as gay if you want, or not. The 99 anime is even less gay than that. Maybe Rurouni Kenshin levels of gay at most. The 2011 anime is full blown fujobait made by fujo animators. Think Saint Seiya levels of gay.

I don't know if I want to call this a good manga-anime.
Sure the execution was excellent but I find it hard to relate with the characters since the most of them are cold booded murderers (yes including Gon) and/or psychopaths.
The morals were definetly skewed here. So did I enjoyed it? Well partially I did but there were parts I was raging because of the message I felt was tried to convey there.
It's a mixed bag I guess.
Adam Rogers
Leorio is the only person that isn't evil or a psychopath, even Melody said out of everyone in Yorknew his hearthbeat was the most kind and gentle.

Nearly no one of the main MC or any of the hunters are evil or psychopaths, you dumb stupid fuck.
Did it ever confirm what made Hisoka a 'fake Spider' when he was a member even though the leader considered him a member. I know he only joined because he wanted to fight the leader; he was still considered a member by the leader which makes him a real member. You see what I'm getting at right? Like when the fake tat came off it was like oh he's not a real member
But what makes the others members? Ias there something more to becoming a member than just the leaders and other members wanting you to be a member. Like some other force that makes you a member.
Ian Smith
Nah I didn't like Leorio neither.
Sure Leorio had good intenions and noble goal (becoming a doctor and helping people for free)
but most of time he was useless goofy stupid quick to anger (a hothead then) and mostly in the background or absent
Melody was kinda likeable but she joined the mafia so…
Like I said it was a mixed bag.

>Did it ever confirm what made Hisoka a 'fake Spider' when he was a member Uh yes, his intention, fake Spider tattoo and selling the Spider's secrets to Kurapika. >even though the leader considered him a member. Not after Hisoka showed his true colors and removing the fake Spider tattoo. >he was still considered a member by the leader which makes him a real member. Again, that was before Chrollo knew Hisoka's true colors and intentions. After that, Hisoka was or never was considered a member of the PT. >You see what I'm getting at right? No not really, user. And about the tattoo coming off. Well, Chrollo never really was attached to Hisoka and Danchou had a laid back uncaring personality in general. How else should he reacted? >But what makes the others members? Getting accepted by the Danchou, getting a real spider tattoo, the intention of being a ''real'' member of the Spiders in both soul and mind, living to it's rules and philosophy and being loyal in fullest to the group and Chrollo's orders. Thats makes one a ''real'' member of the Phantom Troupe, one of the spiders legs. >Like some other force that makes you a member. There isn't any force that makes you a member. The decision in the end is up to you and only you.
HxH is a shonen in name only, it has transcended the genre a long time ago.
Isaiah Clark
This is unironically true. Hunter x Hunter is not a deconstruction of the shounen genre because IT'S NOT EVEN A SHOUNEN. Good luck trying to fit the same story structure of Dragon Ball onto the Yorknew or Election arc. Would be just as futile as trying to cram Hamlet into the Hero's Journey.

Fanwars & dissing other people's taste is fun, you know? Everyone talks about shows they don't watch.

It is elitist, but a large part of it is people over estimating HxH. Its a great manga, but its not nearly as good as people meme it to be. Its a kid's series, probably originally intended for the teens that read YuYu growing up. And it has stayed that way throughout.
The idea that any of that list is at all needed for understanding HxH is just foolish. And someone posting that would get as much flak as they deserve.

Dylan Brooks
Spare me, homo. There's nothing particularly mature with JoJo nor TPN. I haven't read Chainsaw Man nor feel the need to. if it's good, congrats. And from what I heard of Claymore, it shat the bed sometime during the story.
And SnK is a meme answer. It's approach to politics is pedestrian. Isayama tries hard to emulate GoT but has none of the writing talent GoT once had. The characters are hollow, and the story is nonsensical, melodramatic schlock for teenagers.
Ethan Taylor
YuYu doesn't have to have much in common with HxH for Togashi to be directing the story to an audience a couple years older than the ones that would have read YYH. He is writing HxH for teens probably in the 14 to 16 year old age group, and the story has been appealing to that age group the entire time.
Copying other pieces of art and real-life occurrences does not a good series make. If anything that image hurts HxH. It shows that Togashi relies on outside sources in order to express his ideas rather than be original.
Its hardly impressive to find artwork and then include it in your story either. Otherwise that shitty Teenage Renaissance manga would have been the greatest piece of Japanese media of all time. Art is all about its originality, reference is useful only in its ability to be manipulated for your own goals, and Togashi doesn't really do much with his references beyond make them.
>Art is all about its originality, reference is useful only in its ability to be manipulated for your own goals, and Togashi doesn't really do much with his references beyond make them. Have you even read or watched HxH, subhuman?
Holy shit, I didn't even notice the Doomsday Clock imagery. How is this manga so fucking incredible? Every time I find out about more thematic layers and symbolism in the story.
I have all 3 of them filtered along with every image they spam and avatarfag aswell, it took some time, but they are so godamn insufferable they take the name off from time to time
Gavin Campbell
So rich of themes, narratives within a narratives. So many parallels, themes enveloping each other in perfect synthesis. Manga peakes as an art form when Togashi wrote CA
These are all references, but they do not do anything novel with the source material. You can put a picture of Brahman in your work, but it doesn't do anything special if you don't twist it for your own purposes. Isaac and the Poor Mans Rose are not impressive just because they reference irl Atomic Weaponry. Neither is connecting that to the Doomsday Clock. This is all simple shit my guy.
You need to be less credulous of Togashi's writing. Its a good series, maybe even great, but obvious references are not mind-blowing to anyone that has read more than just Japanese children's comic books.
Nicholas Myers
SnK ends in a few months and the total sales will be 80M. HxH is at 75M and its not even close to an ending. KNEEL

>YuYu doesn't have to have much in common with HxH for Togashi to be directing the story to an audience a couple years older than the ones that would have read YYH. Then the argument is fundamentally wrong to make. Then they would only be reading HxH because they happen to like his approach to writing manga. Of course, you would know he didn't jump from YYH to HxH. Level E came in between and that also has nothing to do with YYH either, literally zero.
>He is writing HxH for teens probably in the 14 to 16 year old age group, and the story has been appealing to that age group the entire time. But last I checked, the the people reading HxH are in their 30s. I'm actually working on it. Specifically I talk about how it relates to the Nietzschean overtones of CA with the theme of eternal recurrence and the thematic coherency of the symbolism behind Kite's character.
The ramblings of a phi102 kid are not interesting. Hegel isn't ever closely related to this at all regardless.
Mureum's development follows along with a thousand other stories development of characters like that. Shelly's Frankenstein for example followed almost the same path as Mereum, are you going to say that Shelly based Frankenstein off of Hegel? Not quite likely given that Frankenstein was published at about the same time so there is a great chance she never even heard of Hegel. Or is it more likely that Hegel's philosophy just so happens to agree with the development of humans. Which makes sense - that Hegel guy was pretty smart you know.
This is just some kid drawing connections where there aren't any, development of a character like Mereum is supposed to resemble that of a human - he's a tragic figure that is alien but becoming something that we can understand, thats his entire purpose in the plot. He's again similar to Frankenstein in that way.

I mentioned Golgo 13 and OP as a counter to the retard that thinks that something selling more = quality. You are a schizo that thinks that everyone disagreeing with you is the same person.

Hegel is directly named by Togashi in the manga, so all the analogies are intended by the author because he has obviously read Hegel.

The people reading HxH are in their 30s because the series started when they were teens.
HxH and YYH were published in the same magazine, the difference is that HxH is the more complex story, which is because it is directed at an older audience. But both were aimed at the same overall readership.

The reason he still with Shonen Jump is both the freedom he's allowed and the seniority he has with the magazine. By the man's own word, he says the magazine he's in doesn't define him as a writer.

He named dropped him in a long list of Philosophers while trying to show off how shallow, intellectual, childish Tserriednich is. He wasn't seriously talking about Hegel there.
