In comparison Accel’s redemption seems more mature than Touma’s moralfaggotry since he consistently works for it in the LN, but if a teen is just being introduced to the series the edgy “punishment” angle is what baits them.

Desu I think they're both more aimed at teens as far as what they deal with. Unrealistic stuff like Sisters and NT9 aside they deal with a duality of growing up issues. Accel figuring out what he wants to be, Touma needing to let go of things, etc. Hamazura's harder to pin though since he has an ongoing relationship, isn't a student anymore, isn't prodigy, but doesn't have a major malfunction. But back to the topic, I doubt the age gap between any characters for polling would be big

People are biased towards NT8-10 and sacrifice other arcs to make it "perfect," when it's perfectly possible to split all the arcs into their own seasons. Adapting the side stories is unnecessary.

I’m currently watching attack on titan while I wait for the next volume of Railgun and AB so don’t worry.

I think it's more so that 5-6 volumes is just a good median for how much to cover in a season, and NT10-12 are all perfectly fine stopping points for a season. It's a lot easier to pick a spot to end a season there than it is afterwards, go 5 a season and end on NT10 or 6 a season and end on NT12 (or toss SS2 in there somewhere). But it gets a lot harder to decide where you should be halting midway through Kamisato's arc since a lot of it is connected to the volume previous.

I think people overestimate how much running time they need out of fear because of the precedent the Index anime has established. Also people are stubborn and want a 1:1 adaptation when that isn't viable translating from text to animation.

You seem to have skipped the part of my comment where I point out an objective reason to not want to rush that segment. If you're ever going to slow down and put focus on the character development over the action, that would be the time to do so. Because sure, you *could* spend 3-4 episodes on each of them, but you're going to get a lot more out of putting 5-6 episodes onto those volumes than if you put that time into NT11 or 12

NT9, I've considered using it to introduce friends to the series before.

NT4 would be completely incomprehensible as a one shot. The entire first half of OT is episodic, but OT15 minus the DRAGON name drop, OT16 minus Fiamma, NT11, and 14 to an extent are like that too. Most of the series is just cliffhanger/seguing though

NT 7. It had great suspense and an unfolding mystery, a rampage from a cool and collected character, a variety of powers on display, and a final battle with an antagonist that arguably had better motivations than her enemy. Plus characters who usually get lucky such as Touma and Hamazura weren't the deciding factors in how things concluded. As a one-shot you'd have to do some tweaking but it would work the best.

It's been done before with other telepaths in other works of fiction of course, but it brings a level of nuance to her character that Kamachi rarely gets to explore. The people who disregard that volume because it doesn't adavance the plot literally can't seem to understand what Kamachi was trying to do with it, even when he pretty much spelled it out in the afterword.

If his memories or the circumstances aren't the things driving Touma's heroism then what is it? It turns out it's an inherent part of his character, and it can't be reduced to his morals or a single specific trauma. It's as natural as breathing to him.

The main theme is vengeance against some form of unconscious mental manipulation. In the Queen Divers's case, against Shokuhou Misaki, and in Kamisato's case, against the Magic Gods.
The main difference you'll notice is that the Queen Divers are avenging themselves, while Kamisato is avenging his harem.

Original Touma's counter argument is extremely concise and incisive. I'll go on a leg and say he's actually saying what he thinks. By contrast, new Touma's argument agains Kamisato is substantially weaker, even if it's more logical. He points out an important methodological flaw in Kamisato's plan, the fact he didn't even put in the effort to check if there really was a victim in the first place, but it doesn't really get to the heart of things. If Kamisato spoke with Ellen, and she revealed that she hadn't even noticed he existed prior to WR events, new Kamijou's entire point collapses. New Kamijou most likely doesn't really think that the girls would like Kamisato regardless, he just brings up the possibility for the sake of argumentation.
I've been trying to think of what original Kamijou would respond to Kamisato with, but the closest thing I thought of was that Kamisato was a regular high school boy, who two days after gaining a mysterious power decided to take revenge on beings who could destroy the world, and in this way old Kamijou would turn the situation into a problem of saving Kamisato.

Having read all of OT, I can say that many volumes can be skipped if you've already seen the anime, but I don't regret reading them either.
Touma pledging to fight the world for Agnese (Othiwho?), Shota Touma being stabbed, and almost everything about OT1 were worth reading for content the anime did not or could not include.

OT1 and OT6 are honestly some of my favorite volumes, and I found OT2 and OT4 much more enjoyable than in the anime.
