I don't care about shogi either but the shogi was fine as long as it was about the loli playing it. A bit like how Saki made learning a bit of mahjong worthwhile just to see the girls playing it.
The biggest issue with this series was the last quarter being about the MC playing it, and I've got no idea why anyone would care. Any of his more fun interactions with the loli was dropped for that shit drama and match.

This. They had two amazing episodes with Red Ai and then she was relegated to an extra. In fact all the lolis had much less screen time in the second half of the season.

This level of low quality shittpostery, and the normal spammers who I won't name, is why any thread about Ryuuou no Oshigoto ends up turning to shit.

They omitted the bulk of Yaichi's efforts and insecurities and should have ended on vol 4 and adapt vol 5 as a standalone movie or special. Vol 5 was absolute gold and they cut out like half of it.
