real talk though. what is the legit best method/version of this to watch for a first timer?
I know it's coming to netflix, but I don't want to settle for something that's potentially not as good as it could be.

Just go to Nyaa my guy
the netflix version
You can't post here if you can't tell how all of Evangelion releases are related to each other.
Will the episodes be the original TV broadcast or the additions of director's cut scenes?
I tell people to watch only the movies and haven't had any negative feedback from it.
The Japanese dub is better acted but the english dub isn't bad either and has that rant at the end of the series. If you tend to watch anime dubbed, watch it dubbed. If you watch it subbed, watch it subbed. Easy as that.
Original 26 episodes subtitled.
End of Evangelion.
Rebuilds.
Manga.
And then at that point you can sort of go from there as far as the games and other stuff.
Why is kojima there?
This, and don't listen to any retards telling you to skip episodes 25 and 26.
The English dub is very bad and the end-of-series rant is major cause for secondhand embarrassment. Only nostalgiafags who watched it dubbed as kids are endeared to that rant.
watch the original dub
don't listen to the trash 100% sub people not all anime is best in sub
asuka's voice sounds more bratty and has more weight to the delivery of her character in the original dub than in japanese sub.
her japanese va sounds to posh to really convey aukas rebellious and tsundere nature.
those that are true anime fans are not just team sub or team dub but give both the 3 episode rule and then pick the one which sounds more convincing to what the characters personalities are supposed to be and how good the line delivery is ect
Wait netflix is just redubbing the old show, not even making their own adaptation?
Asuka's original and now defunct VA is insane, delusional, and didn't even audition for the part. Her acting is atrocious. Earnestly calling Asuka a tsundere and complaining that her originally cast seiyuu didn't reflect that inaccurate trait makes your brain look like a raisin to scale.
Netflix might be the best version, wont know for sure until tomorrow
her insanity and delusion is what made her a perfect fit for asuka she really embodied the role and reflected the traits asuka has herself. there were rumours that to even get the choking sound to sound right she was actually choked at some point while reading her lines.
her japanese va honestly sounds less aggressive and more put together than her english va it's honestly like night and day how much more conniving the english va is.
not many japanese women can make play assertive type women without sound well composed and more of a formal sadistic.
Her insanity and delusion made her entitled as fuck. The performance is bad and she was cast because of nepotism. Asuka isn't supposed to come off as batshit insane and wildly obnoxious in every situation. She's functionally charismatic to people who don't know her well, and she passes as put together before her ego starts taking hits.
The dub hits a more polished stride later in the series, to some degree, but the early and mid episodes are really low in quality for every single character.
i read the manga she still seems like a batshit insane person. i think her getting the job out of nepotism is bad but i don't think the performance is bad. i think people praise subs to much they honestly are not the top tier level of acting you think they are when you actually understand japanese they often sound forced and unrealistic to how actual people talk in japan.
original 25 and 26 are absolute shit though and you're better off not having seen them
Why aren't we allowed to make threads on Yea Forums anymore? It's fucking bullshit.
Manga characterization is different for numerous characters. Basically all characters, actually.
I don't think Japanese voice acting is a top tier level of acting the vast majority of the time. I just think that many English dubs, especially older ones, are particularly bad.
who gives a fuck about Yea Forums it's for normalfags.
Not true, they're comfy and dynamic.
Kill yourself
Original Japanese, original series, End of Evangelion, stop.
We don’t know if the subs on the Netflix version will be better or worse.
Don’t watch the rebuilds until at least a month after the series, if at all.
At this point any newfags to Eva might as well wait till 2020 like the rest of us.
In preparation for the redubbing I decided to try and watch the sub for the first time. I only got two episodes in but it feels like, to me, that while the original Japanese voice acting and line delivery fit whats going on onscreen better the English actors fit the characters better.
Misato sounds old as fuck.
You don’t know who the characters are because your perception of Evangelion is the incorrect one. The Balogna Pony dub is fun as a relic or oddity, but it isn’t Evangelion. The Japanese dub is LEGITIMATELY one of the best vocal performances ever given.
test
true managa can be different, i don't think asuka was bat shit crazy at the start but the signs were there that she had some problems even from the start.
i have heared worse old english dubs than evangelions. when it comes to old english dubs bebop and eva are the ones i actually think still hold up pretty well today.
Your posts are becoming incoherent.
Of course there are worse English dubs than Eva's. That doesn't mean Eva's isn't outright bad. It certainly shouldn't be put into the same league's as Bebop's.
She sounds like shes 27 to 33, is Misato not supposed to be in that age range?
She sounds like she's in her forties and has smoked for plenty of that time.
it's honestly not bad. user eva's dub is as good as bebop's but i don't think i can ever convince you so if you insist on viewing it as bad go on. i'll continue to enjoy it over the sub.
What would you say are the major differences in the execution of the core characters between the dub and sub?
Just from the 2 episodes I've seen, Sub Misato sounds cute and ditsy (which makes sense considering Anno developed her as being an older version of Sailor Moon) while Dub Misato is comes across crass and messy but a hardass when she needs to be.
Sub Ritsuko feels like sexy femdom mommy, Dub Ritsuko feels like Hillary Clinton.
Shinji and Gendo are about the same, though Spike's performance is more whiney.
If you want to live your life incorrectly that’s your business, just don’t push newfags to do the same and you’re good.
Sephirotic release on Nyaa
See the original unremastered version then watch EoE. The remaster looks a lot better with better voice acting. Rebuild is pretty cool save for 3.33.
No she fucking doesn't you stupid fucking weeb
>mixing manga characterization with the series
why the fuck do people do this? are they idiots?
Spike's performance isn't reluctant enough. Ogata's Shinji is hesitant and skittish even during or directly after many of his outbursts. He sounds like he feels that he's taking up too much space despite his best efforts not to.
Dubfags.
Someone post the copypasta of reading it 1 episode + manga chapter a day + breaks.
>dubfags actually making a stand this thread
About fucking time, all four of the main characters are great in dub. I never got the hate for it on here.
Dub Shinji came off as hesitant and timid to me, but thats a fair criticism and might be true, its been a while.
H/a/ters gonna hate.
Whoa whoa whoa.
He should be getting [2D4U] not Sephirotic. Except for maybe the movies since I don't think RX782 ever got around to doing those.
Dub Shinji sounds frazzled a lot, but not really hesitant. He's a little more spastic than Ogata's Shinji. In my opinion.
>Kermit the Frog Shinji
>Chainsmoker Asuka
>Rei the robot
>Misato the AMERICAN WOMAN
Subs, screw the dub. Watch all of the fucking show. Preferably director's cut. No fucking skipping, anyone saying otherwise needs to choke on a cock. After that watch EoE. That's all. If Netflix you better uncheck that skip intro and credits option.
>Trap Shinji
>Bad impression of dub Asuka that sounds like you're phoning it in to piss her off
>Generic #1
>Generic #2
I hope not. Normalfags need to get fucked. They don't deserve anything but shit.
Jesus Christ.
>Original Asuka is an impression of Tiffany Grant
THE ABSOLUTE STATE
Congratulations, you are philistine and a burger. Dub sounds like Saturday morning shit with a few passable exceptions among the main cast, but full retard for everything else. Shinji can't even emote properly, pitiably screams.
THAT'S WHAT SHE SOUNDS LIKE
>insane, delusional
She claims Anno told her Asuka was pregnant in EoE. Also known for flying off the fucking handle in the Evageeks forum. Evageeks is trash but she was still insane.
>nepotism
She said herself during her meltdown over not being recast in Netflix's dub that her audition for Netflix was her first time auditioning for Asuka.
I understand. In the scene when Misato picks him for the first time and he says "Of course, why else would my father want to see me?", Sub Shinji sounds wistful and sad. Dub Shinji says it quicker and harder but I think it can be interpreted the same way, one is just more angsty.
Do you genuinely feel like there's a significant difference between the experience of the original Japanese vs. the ADV? To the point that it feels like a different show? Because I consider NGE my favorite series based off the dub alone.
Because you watched the dub first and sullied yourself. You don’t even know who Asuka is.
Nyaa, and then don't make any eva threads after you watch it.
based
>>Rei the robot
how is that even a valid criticism Rei is supposed to be a blank slate
I mean, I feel like the acting in the dub is legitimately bad, I really mean that. The quality of delivery affects the experience for me.
I feel that Shinji is noticeably different in character due to the delivery.
Ultimately, no, it's not a different show. But it is a worse version to me and there's no sense in watching a worse version.
>She’s supposed to be a robot
You saying that is proof enough.
>Rei is supposed to be a blank slate
I legitimately don't understand how someone can watch all of Eva and believe this.
And you watched the sub first and went into the dub already biased against it just like every other fucking weeb that says this
Just watch the ADV dub and you’ll get it.
Alright, thank you. I'll continue watching the sub but I doubt I'll prefer it in the end just because I experienced the dub first. Thanks for being objective about it.
I actually tried the first few episodes of the dub first because I was only 14 the first time I watched it and had to stop watching because Shinji was that bad.
I’ve seen the version as intended and directed by Anno, you have not.
I watched both and the dub didn't miss any of the shit in the original, you're deluded if you think otherwise
I didn't say a robot I said a blank slate. She's a confused 14 year old chemically created fucktoy for a 50 year old man and gets replaced by empty copies when she gets hurt or dies.
>episode 24
>EoE
Pretty stark script changes, user.
I’ve seen both and if you genuinely believe that than you still don’t understand Evangelion.
How long ago did you watch Eva?
If you think her character is a blank slate (which you’ve equated with being a robot by asking how it’s a legitimate complaint) then you don’t understand Rei.
This conversation is really eye opening. Dubfags simply don’t understand the show.
I like the original dub too. Only the side characters are iffy at times
I guess this can function as its own sort of answer for the earlier question of whether the dub changes Evangelion as an experience.
she's not even 14
Thank god you're here to set the record straight.
I mean that’s an objective fact, this show is so character driven and the performances CANNOT be one to one.
What's different between dub and sub 24?
>EoE
Listen I'm a dubfag and I'll defend it to death but I've only watched EoE once, dubbed, and even I could tell there was something off. What the fuck happened? They switched around some of the VAs and the ones that were consistent pronounced things differently for some reason.
>semantics
she has the body of a 14 year old
Neither of these had changes stark enough as to actually convey a different point than was intended. Some differed line delivery (and a godawful splorch sound effect in EOE's case) doesn't change this.
>2deep4u argument on a show that literally spells out the point in both the last two episodes AND the movie
Yikes
>What's different between dub and sub 24?
Plenty of Kaworu stuff cuz the dub pussied out.
You should seriously watch EoE subbed. Ogata's screams are incredible.
Oh no, that’s not my job. I’m not here to spoonfeed you Evangelion. If you’ve watched the show (as intended and edited by the director with seiyuu chosen by him and takes used for the show, in what is legitimately the best vocal cast ever in anime) and still think Rei is a robot, that’s on you, man.
>Neither of these had changes stark enough as to actually convey a different point than was intended. Some differed line delivery (and a godawful splorch sound effect in EOE's case) doesn't change this.
They absolutely conveyed different points. The scene where Rei and Kaworu explain what they represent to Shinji is an obvious one, for example.
>he thinks Evangelion is about the plot
DUBFAGS NEVER DISAPPOINT HAHAHAHA but seriously buddy go back to Yea Forums or Yea Forums or wherever you’re from.
We don't know anything about the Netflix version to compare
I haven't checked subs since 2013 but they weren't that good, like translating Kaworu's "my life was meaningful because of you" to "I'm glad I met you" reduces impact a lot. Netflix is supposed to be done from the scratch so it could be the best version to date.
>this entire comment when the original post says nothing about plot
Also reminder that whatever your feelings on Rebuild, 3.0's English dub was so bad that Anno forced them to redo it before releasing beyond its initial screenings at a convention.
Damn. I wasn't the user who said Rei was a robot but I was hoping to be shown the way by your true intellectual prowess.
I tell people to watch just the first half of EoE and then episodes 14-16, 5, 8-11 of the TV series, in that order. The feedback has been mostly positive.
>if you watched the show (GWAK GWAK GWAK GWAK GWAK GWAK GWAK GWAK GWAK GWAK GWAK GWAK GWAK GWAK GWAK GWAK GWAK GWAK GWAK) and still think Rei is a robot...
>It spells it out for you at the end brooooo
Concede. If you think Evangelion isn’t about the characters, somethinng DIRECTLY impacted by the balogna pony dub, you don’t understand Evangelion. It’s not that it’s deep, it’s that it’s too deep for YOU.
I accept your concession.
>implying
No shit it's a character drama you illiterate retard, they still outright tell you the message at the end.
>GWAK GWAK GWAK GWAK GWAK GWAK
go back to your cooler, pen pen
I prostrate myself to your intellect. Please. Tell me the ways of Evangerion
>Misato
Dub: Raspy but cute voice, great at shouting orders, commanding yet with also a sense of vulnerability, decent crying performance, good for comedic lines.
Sub: Basic Japanese female voice, sensitive and yielding.
>Rei
Dub: Amanda Winn Lee can do a higher-pitched breathy voice, but also has a deeper sound from deep in her throat giving her performance more depth and feeling.
Sub: Generic little girl voice #7,623
>Asuka
Dub: Fantastic performance from Tiffany Grant who genuinely loves the character, cartoonish sounding and over-the-top at times, but also expressive and emotive when she needs to be.
Sub: Super high-pitched, shrill, annoying girl voice that does not sound realistic at all and makes your ears bleed.
>Shinji
Dub: Really corny and cartoonish, but gets better over time. About halfway through the show, the character has a lot of emotive scenes that are at least adequately performed.
Sub: A voice so weak and frail that it sounds feminine most of the time, especially when screaming.
>Ritsuko
Dub: Strong and powerful voice of a smart scientist woman with a successful career in a position of leadership, a bold performance that matches her smart-ass, kinda bitchy personality.
Sub: Soft-spoken and low voice, lacking confidence and pride.
>Gendo
Dub: Cold and distant, but with an intelligent and cunning sound, like he has something to hide.
Sub: Generic deep male voice #5.
For a great comparison of Gendo's voice, compare the sub to the dub of the cemetery scene in episode 15.
Also, ADV got creative with many different vocal effects in some of the more abstract scenes, and it adds a lot to the atmosphere of the show. For a great example, compare the scene of Rei's introspection in episode 14; in the dub for that scene, they added some effects to her voice that contributes more to the mood of that scene than what they did in the original, which was nothing.
Torrent it faggot.
>SUPER DETAILED AND OVER EXAGGERATED DESCRIPTION
>dismissive inaccurate description
Wow, I-I’ve been beaten... truly this is... Matt Greenfield’s Masterpiece...
Its honestly been years since I actually watched it in full all the way through cause I can't focus as well as I could when I was younger. I'm mostly just shitposting while we wait for the show to drop, I'm really nervous but actually kind of excited now.
>I actually tried the first few episodes of the dub first because I was only 14 the first time I watched it and had to stop watching because Shinji was that bad.
I watched the show for the first time when I was 14 too, the dub. It wasn't until I was 16 or 17 that I tried to rewatch the show again and realized how not good Tiffany Grant sounds as Asuka. I still love her performance/tone of the character, but objectively she doesn't sound good. It hurts me to admit that but she sounds kind of awkward and way too old.
>Evangelion is about the message at the end
Once again, you’ve failed.
I'm an ESL but I heard the Eva English dub. Shinji sucked, he always sounded like an adult making a mocking voice of a crying child.
I think Asuka's VA was the one who put the most effort and passion and had great deliveries. This is coming from someone whose opinion on English dubs is very low, wish more VAs were like her.
No opinion in particular about the rest.
Hated the added and changed sfx.
Nice pasta
>they tell you the message at the end = it's about the message at the end
Based retard for not being able to read
>I'm mostly just shitposting
Your posts make sense now.
Have fun watching Eva, it's really good.
>You should seriously watch EoE subbed.
I NEED to. There's no should about it. This thread is actually making me excited to rewatch the show again, not that I don't already think about NGE on an almost daily basis.
>you don’t understand it
>of course I do, they tell you the message at the end
>evangelion is not about the message
>WOOOOW WHEN DID I EVER IMPLY IT WAS
I'm excited too. I think about Eva constantly as well but it's been a while since I've sat down and watched it. I'm going to have a lot of fun.
>The newfags are here already
Brace yourselves men. The Eva fandom is about to get ROCKED.
Yeah dude there's going to be like ten more evafags making "Shinji get in the robot jokes" and XDing about the ending.
Eva is the most normalfag shit out there and is the first thing people see when they get told to watch a """"""""""deeper""""""""" anime
I'm a dubfag and I knew the show isn't about the plot. A former friend of mine watched the show subbed and hated it and complained about the "loose ends" and tried to talk to me about NERV, Seele, and plot details like it actually fucking mattered. Dubbed or subbed, you won't get NGE if you're not mentally ill.
You’ll see.
>3.0's English dub was so bad that Anno forced them to redo it before releasing beyond its initial screenings at a convention.
Wait so I haven't seen the official version of 3.0? I only saw it when the dub was premiered at New York Comic-Con
>if it’s good I get a fresh new way to rewatch the series
>if it’s bad I get to snuggle up with a bottle of rum and laugh my ass off
Who /comfy/ here?
Then, correct, you haven't seen what was released for home video.
>implying that "you don't understand it" should be taken to mean "you didn't understand the characters" and not "you didn't understand the message of the show" by default
I thought this post was going to be reasonable at first because I agree with your assessment of Dub Misato and then it immediately went off the deep end
Your misinterpretation is further proof of your lack of understanding.
It’s pasta from the only Eva dubfag that regularly posts in Yea Forums Eva threads. He’s a laughingstock.
This entire thread really goes to show how much Yea Forums has declined. Baffles me how no one has called out its mere existence or the multiple dubfags.
Plenty have, the only difference is Moot would have banned them and posted a smug Asuka.
you completely missed the point of the show nice job retard
>you didn't understand them when referring to characters
>you didn't understand it when referring to the show on a broader scale
Not hard to get bud
>128 replies and only 37 IPs
ah so this is why the thread is being shit up with the original dub
Going through my Platinum collection DVDs and forgot these were on it. It's Matt Greenfield, and a guy who went around giving lectures on Eva for money. Most pretentious and hilarious I've seen come out of in relation to Eva.

>Have fun watching Eva, it's really good.
Don't say that like I haven't seen it. I mean, its been enough years that it will be a fresh experience but I do own the series on DVD and have the A and B Chronicle books. I wish I had more though.
I'm not even sure how I should approach it. The format of Netflix makes it easy to watch all in one (especially compared to the DVDs all on separate discs), but I don't want it to start skipping A Cruel Angel's Thesis. And I want to watch the original now but I'm going to be too curious about the new dub. I wouldn't even have this problem if I stuck to my plan. Might just need to watch them back to back.
The show is about the characters.
>this is the man Grant was fucking
It doesn't stop being funny.
When does it come out? How much longer do we need to wait?
>Most pretentious
that's a pretty high bar, what's the tldr of their take?
ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!
I'm certainly not going to watch the entirety of the new dub, I just want to sample it and see what it's like. My rewatch will just be a standard subbed viewing.
Actually I take it back. It's probably the softiest honest take on the series, by them at least and maybe a bit reaching in what's pretty obvious observational, at that point in time compared to the evaluation it's going to get by newer fans come tomorrow and onward.
Post yfw Netflix Gendo is comprised of Robin Williams soundbites.
On VHS with a CRT in a well-lit room and sitting more than 1 metre away from the screen.
How the fuck did he do it? It doesn't make sense. The logistics and physics of it doesn't make sense.
Yeah just like with Devilman dude
He was willing to stick his dick in crazy.
>it generally refers to a subject or object in a sentence and in context would logically be referring to the main theme of the story due to its impersonal, neutral nature
>them is a plural and far more personal pronoun and using it here would lead one to assume that you're referring to the characters of the show
Don't fucking use "it" to refer to characters and expect anyone to assume that's what you meant
Good idea.
If you can’t infer that means you don’t understand the show.
>t. illiterate
Episodes 1-26 and immediately into the End of Evangelion. Don't watch Death. For short notice watching like this, go into it with Dub. Dunno about the Director's Cut though, so it'll be up to you.
Stop projecting.
>For short notice watching like this, go into it with Dub.
Do you need time to psychologically prepare yourself to read subtitles or something?
Do NOT listen to this. No dub. Sub.
The onus is on you to convey yourself in a way that doesn't make you sound stupid, not on other people to come up with reasons why you aren't as stupid as you sound.
When does Netflix update? I want to at least watch the twin Angel episode, to see how they handled the dub.
>tfw black Twitter starts making memes about Evangelion
Honestly not sure how I'd feel.
Have they ever actually said what Funimation fucked up with it?
3AM EST / 12AM PST.
Don't use shitty unfitting terminology and fail to understand why the statement wasn't taken the way you wanted it to
Listen if you’re too dumb to understand that’s OK, you can forgive yourself and try to do better next time.
No. Khara didn't say anything publicly and of course Funimation wasn't going to admit to it.

>We are working directly with the Japanese studio and the original creator on the upcoming Evangelion 3.33 home video release. This is a unique opportunity that presented itself to us, and since the plot for Evangelion 3.33 is so different from previous story lines, we are thrilled that the creator has asked to be so heavily involved in this project. Studio Khara has even decided that they would like to create their own special subtitle tracks for the release!
Embarrassing.
>everyone being angry at the reality of Misato being a slut and a slob in order to compensate for her dead dad and witnessing the 2nd Impact
>everyone being upset over Kaji doing his thing
>Nobody: / Gendo Ikari: alright fuck you shinji i'll just send rei out ("that" meme format)
Oh no, it's early highschool all over again. History really does repeat itself.
Dis angel boi turnin niggas gay!
?????????????
Yeah I'm sure next time when someone is referring to the characters they'll do so in a coherent way you fucking simp
>WOW I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT ANNO IS SO TRANSPHOBIC AND REPRESSIVE OF SHINJI'S SEXUALITY
>JESUS, WHAT'S GENDO'S FUCKING PROBLEM
>WHY IS ASUKA JOBBING SO HARD FUCKING ANNO
Although, I do admit that I'm having a hard time trying to identify what nitpicky shit Twitter and other nitpicky shitholes will talk about.
You aren't properly experiencing it unless you pirate shitty 25MB real media files from kazaa.
>all these new men that are going to be looking at my waifu of 15 years
I-I don’t know how I feel about this...
Don't worry, there's nearly eight billion people in the world. Someone, somewhere, will say something stupid so it can be latched onto and paraded around Yea Forums endlessly.
>yfw all the extended shots like the elevator and holding kaworu are included and normalfags compain they're boring or unnecessary
>lol my TV froze
IMAGINE defending some freaking shitty half-assed dub.
Imagine saying it "suits better" the anime when Anno went ahead and legitimately mistreated and harassed the main seiyuu and made them redo scenes over and over again. Asuka's seiyuu had a fucking BREAKDOWN over it and now refuses to talk about the anime. By watching dub, you are spitting on all the tears that were spilled and hairs that were ripped during the making.
If you watch anime, go sub or go home.
Cool, but it's my choice.
>Imagine saying it "suits better" the anime when Anno went ahead and legitimately mistreated and harassed the main seiyuu and made them redo scenes over and over again. Asuka's seiyuu had a fucking BREAKDOWN over it and now refuses to talk about the anime
Well that makes it sound like you're spitting in the seiyuu's face by watching the sub
>Imagine saying it "suits better" the anime when Anno went ahead and legitimately mistreated and harassed the main seiyuu and made them redo scenes over and over again. Asuka's seiyuu had a fucking BREAKDOWN over it and now refuses to talk about the anime.
Enforced method acting.
anyone going to stream the netflix release?
kek didn't she move to Australia?
Her work was for something. It paid off and it’s beautiful.
>literally passing out from screaming
Finally someone who knows what's right in this thread.
Netflix.
Concession accepted, seething, rent free, COPE, yikes, NEXT
Cringe
>yea it's terrible how child workers are being exploited in sweatshops but look at how cool my clothes are! It paid off and it's beautiful.
I don't think you're making a sound argument here bud.
Top tier false equivalence, son.
Yuko Miyamura allowed herself to be strangled by Megumi Ogata in the recording room during Shinji's vision of strangling Asuka in End of Evangelion.
>Although, I do admit that I'm having a hard time trying to identify what nitpicky shit Twitter and other nitpicky shitholes will talk about.
Asuka and Rei being sexualized
The incestuous implications won't be complained about but if anything is meme'd it'll probably be people's realization that Shinji wants to fuck a clone of his mom
I gathered that, I meant a livestream like with toradora on christmas
>Alabama Shinji
I could dig this meme. Bring on the normalfags. Worst case scenario we’ll scare em off with loliposting.
is the line at the beginning of EoE about the 4 women who made it possible referring to the VAs for the main 4 characters? i'm guessing so i don't know who else it could be
also iirc asuka's final line was taken from her seiyuu when anno asked her what she would say if she'd found out someone had jacked off over her comatose body
If you're getting excited about the robot fighting and give no shit about the characters just stop ahead, Anno already hates you, your family and your dog.
Shinji never wanted to fuck his mom's clone, at least not until Rebuild.
His mom's clone did want to fuck him though, which is arguably more disturbing
I still don't get the whole "Misato is a slob" thing. She's only ever shown in a sexual relationship with Kaji, and maybe the moments where it's implied she might be offering to fuck Shinji to make him feel better after Rei died, and to motivate him to get in Unit-01 during EoE.
Don't watch the rebuilds. Just don't do that to yourself.
*"Misato is a slut" thing*
Don't bother. It's overrated as fuck. Watch Zeta Gundam instead if you want to watch a big robot space harem show.
>ywn be your own waifu
pretty sure he hates everyone regardless of what they think
I just take them as a big-budged doujin.
Misato being a slob is about her living situation at home, with the fifty thousand empty cans of Yebisu and convenience store food. Presumably you can infer that she's living life like that because of how isolated and smothered she was before and during the 2nd Impact/College.
And nevermind, yeah, Misato's loose or flirty like that. Can be traced back to the dead dad & 2nd Impact ordeal.
I guess you can draw things out like this,
"Deep down Misato knows that being this outward about sex goes against the reserved and responsible perception of her character, as well as her own perceptions of Shinji's perception of her innocence, namely her chastity or something to that effect."
Rewatch the show.
Is this another difference between dub and sub thing? Cause last time I checked, Shinji wanted to fuck his mom's clone.
They likely fucked around with the script too much, that seems to be a really bad habit with Funi.
She's a huge flirt who isn't afraid to lead men on to get what she wants. Think of how she baited Shinji with lewd photos.
Anno is such an hypocritical cunt I can't imagine why he's got so many supporters.
For all the bitching and moaning he does about otaku culture and the current state of the industry that never stopped him from milking this IP dry and licencing it to everyone with money.
Yes I still remember those godawful dating sims.
I mean leaving aside that Rei didn't actually want to have sex with him since I figure that's just meme wording, she was only really a clone of Shinji's mom's body, not her mind, which would make Shinji being physically attracted to her pretty fucking weird but wouldn't make her being attracted to him weird.
i agree that she's not a slut, i'm pretty sure it's even state that kaji was the only one she boned but it's probably because it was "shown" a couple of times that makes people think she's one- her making out with shinji isn't exactly in her favor though because at worst it's because she wants to bang him too and at best it's because she wants to motivate him to pilot the eva through sexual favors, neither of which are great behaviour
she did blow off ritsuko that one time to fuck kaji though which is pretty lame
she is 100% a slob though
what gave you that impression
I don't know if I ever thought about her being a slut explicitly, but this song always reminded me of Misato.
Because he's shown to be attracted to her multiple times and prefers her to Asuka who obviously has a crush on him. Are we really acting like Shinji wasn't Rei's beta orbiter?

How about (You) take a stance then and stop watching anime and stop coming here?
>awful 90s dub is good
Yea Forums has truly fallen.
did the dub change the line where he explicitly compares her to a mother or did it change the whole scene of her naked in her apartment? i honestly don't know how you could see all the ways in which rei is coded maternal and shinji is shown seeking a maternal presence from her and come out thinking his interest was sexual
>who obviously has a crush on him
do you think shinji knew that?
>do you think shinji knew that?
No.
>did the dub change the line where he explicitly compares her to a mother or did it change the whole scene of her naked in her apartment?
I don't remember if the dub changed that line or not, he might've said it, but the implication was still him being attracted to her. Rei was never presented as being a maternal figure.
>do you think shinji knew that?
Either way, Shinji didn't care much. In fact, he was more into Asuka out of desperation and he wanted someone to understand him and relieve his stress. Asuka however was too self-centered and aggressive, and couldn't deal with the fact that she was bad at her job because it was everything to her. So in the end, none of that mattered, those two just ended hating each other more with each incident. Note that Asuka was also "into Shinji" for 2 reasons: 1) she was desperate to prove she was an adult 2) Kaiji just kept denying her
IT'S HERE
NO-ONE CARES
FUCK OFF
>the character created from the combination of the cosmic god-mother of humanity and the protagonist's actual mother and described as motherly isn't presented with any maternal undertones
so this is the power of dubfags
>Being retarded on purpose
He is never shown to be attracted to Rei.
The incident where he encountered her naked was purely awkward and did not do anything for him
Oh God the dub is fucking garbage holy shit this is the worst Shinji of all time
It's literally SOUL vs SOULLESS
the new dub actually changes the script more than the ADV dub does holy fucking shit
Source?
Are you guys actually using Netflix?
lmao
yeah my mom pays for it
the source is me looking through the first episode just now having just rewatched the first episode comparing the dub and sub yesterday
>Rick and Morty
god help us if there's fags shitposting with that
Being this retarded
>all these dubfags
Evafags confirmed for worst fanbase on Yea Forums. Jesus Christ you shitters should be ashamed.
Never cared for dub but the new dub has shinji sounding like a girl, misato is off, asuka literal shit, rei lost a lot what made her interesting, kaji sounds like a bitch, gendo isnt as intimidating, most side characters dont give a shit
Kind of off topic but can somebody give me the best version to actually buy Neon Genesis?
In English the Platinum Thinpak collection. In Japanese the blu ray edition, a new one is releasing soon.
import the japanese bd
The Netflix dub is new, so I'm looking into it. I've seen the show over at least 10 times, what the fuck do you want from me?
The new dub is bad user even worse than before and the old one was actually decent in most cases
Are they using the blu ray quality from Japan? Or is it just like my Thinpak collection copies?
It's BD quality.
Is there a version of the blurays with platinum subs that has proper typesetting? The bluray came out right at the terminal stage of fansubbing and RX's version kind of blows but I'm not sure what's happened in the last 5 years.
This looks shitty for BD quality
What is the actual reason for them removing Fly Me to the Moon?
licensing
Rights issues, what else could it be?
Why the fuck is it so expensive
licensing music can cost a lot of money. not more than netflix could afford, but apparently more than they felt it was worth
English one because out of print over a decade ago. Japanese one because anime is always been high in Japan thats why Aniplex sells all their stuff at Japanese prices to make back profit. Plus its a special edition thing so what do you expect? Also, kinda wish my PS4 could play Japanese blu rays then maybe I would by the Eva BD.
>2019
>still asking this
first you watch doctor who, then take notes
I know. I'm watching it right now because I'm curious. Like I fucking said. I've seen the other iterations of this. I figured it would be bad but I had to abate my sick curiosity.
I prefer Sephirotic over 2D4U. The color palette seems more true (more dead on primary and secondary colors rather than weird hues) and it's been brightened nicely. 2D4U's is missing some of the top of the luma range. For some reason a lot of old anime was mastered so even the brightest of sunlight doesn't hit the top of the scale, so the entire thing is just a bit dim.
Sephirotic's release deliberately changes the entire color grading of the series so retards like you that grew up watching digital anime would feel some misplaced sense of propriety while watching it.
>Sub: Basic Japanese female voice, sensitive and yielding.
