What should happen, and sometimes does, is that the MC is overwhelmingly OP at first but then meets some foe who genuinely gives him trouble.
That sort of happens with the OP pic, if I recall correctly. He struggles with the latest boss and has to work with the other characters to win. This is a more reasonable situation.
