Come to think of it, Touma probably should be able to stop a railgun. When he touches Mikoto's iron sand, the sand completely loses all momentum the moment he touches it. All the sand just freeze in place mid-air and then drop to the ground. Even if you eliminate the magnetism holding it together, the sand should still fly in the direction they're aimed at. Since Touma was able to completely negate that momentum, it means the same should work for a railgun.

Touma can't negate the momentum of an object moved by magic/esper powers. It's just that iron sand has basically no mass and is only used as a high frequency blade. When it loses it's magnetism it's useless.

He negates momentum all the fucking time. In fact, if he didn't, a shitload of things would have gone wrong in the past.

It handled Touma better but was way too cramped and had really bad fights/animation at times. Overall Season 1 was the best despite its cuts, which says a lot because cutting the main characters backstory is still really egregious

I've always thought it was weak compared to NT in terms of themeing and Narrative. Early OT is great but between 6-12 it became a bit shaky. Everything afterwords was good in the sense there was a cohesive chain of events but 14-20 were pure shounen yes. NT definitely has a lot more variety and stronger themes but a lot of that groundwork would not exist without OT's worldbuilding so I'm thankful either way.

It also fucked bad by poor animation decisions, like giving Ouma sakuga and having laughably bad animation for the battle nuns, the Accel building toss, etc. it also had the misfortune of adapting arguably the weakest sets of novels

We all know what happened with Season 3. The point is, Season 1 was the most consistent in quality and tone of the 3, which is sad since it cut out some major shit.
