I honestly liked Tadano more than Haida. I think if Retsuko had stayed with him that maybe Tadano would have a change of heart and consider marriage. They had omly been together for like two and a half days and Retsuko had already considered marriage to him

The problem is that there is no guarantee. If they broke up two years down the line; she would be jobless and without any sort of contractual paperwork she walks away with nothing. She will no doubt will have trouble finding work again, etc. It was a big risk and she needed to know that there was a legitimate future for their relationship beyond "together but not married"
Tadano is a great guy but seemingly set in his ways, which is too unconventional for Retsuko. The shot of Tadano flying his plane in one direction while Restuko driving the truck in the other direction is a perfect visual illustration that they were on different paths going about it their own way.

Tadano's appearance is cute but he has some creepy manipulative undertones.

Also, some of the things he's pushing for kinda sounds like communism to me...

As smart as he is; he's still a young naive idealist who doesnt realize that automation will cause more harm than good. He also low-key tried to convince Retsuko that she doesn't necessarily needs to get married, despite that something she actually wants if she is going to go down that route. Its why Washimi and Gorri intervened, because they know the girl is a directionless mess.

The drama and the relationship was OK, but it's so bizarre that they went with "lol, I'm too smart to drive a car computer save the world" when there are a million times they could've written it.
