They're of different levels of spoopyness; Miekuro-chan is solely focused on the spoopyness aspect, while has a wannabee Junji Ito narrative going on for it (and for this series running for quite a while you'd wonder how come the population there hasn't run out yet)

That's probably the biggest nitpick I have with this series. You'd think that with so many bodies piling up, someone would've noticed or said something, but life just goes on normally. Guess there's something poetic about that, but the suspension of disbelief required keeps growing to the point of being ludicrous.

MC's main girl was always fated to die because Cthulhu marked her to die and in the final chapters of this manga, Cthulhu starts marking everybody to die including MC's own mother and pretty much all of humanity since MC starts being able to see Cthulhu's death sentence.

I don't think you have to use suspension of disbelief here because the manga increasingly includes more absurd black humor, and many chapters can be seen as parody of famous horror works.

Basically this manga is serialized in Champion Red, an ecchi magazine and the author mentioned how reader complaints used to be sent to the magazine, complaining how people lost their boners because this manga was too full of horror and the editor then told the author to start adding some cute girls so people would complain less.

This does make sense because Champion Red was the same magazine that has Yomeiro Choice in it.

However, problem with Champion Red is that they rarely fund anime adaptions. Their most well know anime adaption was Qwaser but that is it.

Perhaps, the author ended this manga for now so she could somehow attempt a sequel in a more mainstream mag that would help get get an anime adaption.

MC was suppose to have one more cousin but unfortunately she died.

I was actually surprised MC let one of his cousins die. He literally rescued his cousin too late. At that point, she was like starving at an abandoned circus ground and that Ferris Wheel to Hell ended up taking her away.

That surprised me because MC isn't usually so passive that he barely puts effort in trying to save someone. Sure he ends up failing to save people most of the time but he didn't act proactive enough toward his other cousin.

Yeah but that was like early on in the manga. After that most if not all the qts around MC stopped dying. Good on the editor.

Like people mentioned in his thread, potential harem members stopped dying but in the end of the manga, pretty much all of humanity gets marked for death by Cthulhu because MC starts seeing the same black mark on everybody like his own mother, the same black mark he saw on his childhood friend that he was trying to warn her about but MC was afraid of his childhood friend not believing he could see the supernatural so he couldn't tell her to be careful and you know what happens: MC's childhood friend gets murdered.

Then it gets revealed by the childhood friend that MC should not feel too guilty because it was Cthulhu that pretty much cursed her and she was going to die in some way or form even if MC had stopped her murderer. Then MC starts seeing the black marks on anybody even random strangers on the street and in school and his own mom.

And that's where the manga ends on a cliffhanger with MC and other psychics being sent to do something about saving humanity. They enter some dream world that looks like a very foggy forest.

To be honest, I was very surprised the author decided to go all Lovecraft on us. Sure there were Lovecraft references but even I was surprised the manga ended this way.

It felt like this manga would continue forever and I was half expecting MC to figure out some way to either allow his childhood friend to go to heaven or somehow come back to life.

And end of the world scenario was the least thing I expected.

Haven't read the "new" translations of the ending yet if there are any, but I honestly thought the ending was going to be Jun realising Hayakawa is the source of all the supernatural shit in the story, because she's basically an anomaly that should be in Heaven but is forced to stay because of him, with the story ending on him finally finding a way to let go, ending not only his connection to Hayakawa but returning life to ordinance. I remember I had a few points from the manga to support it, but I haven't touched the series in a while.

Your ending sounds really possible as well but the more we learn about MC's family, the more we find out MC is super special and not just an average person.

After all, MC's great grandma was a special person too but seems she didn't pass on any of her skills to her family since they all looked so clueless on what to do when the supernatural happened.

I need to reread the manga but I noticed MC was raised by a single mother and wonder what happened to the father. Would be funny if MC's father ends up being not a human as well.

How the hell did this series kill people’s boners? All the girls are so cute, especially hayakawa, eguchi and ghost. Even the MC is good, he went from being so passive in the beginning to actively starting to save people later on despite his relative frailty. If the author gave any of the girls, especially the above mentioned 3, even some moderate fan service I don’t think any amount of horror could stop the boner.
