I know I'm late, but I just saw this. I was not ready for kino of this magnitude. Best redemption story in years

It does throw a curveball.
You think it might just be standard schlock at the beginning, but holy hell at the character arcs.
Also, the ending isn't forced at all.
Reminder that all narrative progress in this film is delivered through characters being absurd assholes. The longer they show any nuance, the less happens.
This is honestly the best anime movie of the last decade. Makato "souless" Shinkai wishes he could make something as good as the worst scene from this.
the adaptation was shit

But she never stops choosing to be disabled.....

Keep watching the same rehashed movie. What attempt is he on now? 7?
You're more obsessed With Makoto Shinkai than crack addicts are with crack rock. Just stop.
Like I care, I enjoy his films and I'm satisfied with their success. It's not as if I post in Knnw threads about how Yamada is a hack.
Because she isnt? She has more consistency than Shinkai and has already made a bang on her first try in theaters. Is there really even a competition here?
It's OK, man. What ruined it for is the antagonist's characters arc, the black haired girl. I forgot her name. Her "redemption" at the end is wholly unconvincing as the whole time before that she's a straight up cunt. The cast's reaction to her violence in the ferris wheel footage was basically "But whyyyy did you slap her?" In reality they should have just dropped her and never forgiven her for that shit because there was no cause for physical violence in that regard. If I was MC that would have been it. Bitch we got nothing to talk about because you don't wanna talk, you just wanna slap people who aren't going to slap you back.
>Movie is about a deaf girl
>Has a soundtrack and voice audio
The movie is about Ishida. It's from his perspective.
>Is put in charge of KyoAni's first original since Munto after the success of K-On
>Becomes KyoAni's worst selling show this decade
Is having a deaf girlfriend as fun as this movie makes it seem?
The movie focuses on that she's a bullying survivor, no fanservice relationship fantasies here.
>no fanservice relationship fantasies here.
WRONG
SU
KI
Yes yes the moon is nice
>Girl falls in love with boy who is abusive to her
This is stockholm syndrome apologism and sends young girls a very bad message. Holy shit. What makes anyone think her abuser won't do it again? Most are repeat offenders.
no wonder she tried to kill herself
This holy user stop making me orgasm from your very words.
For that scene to agree with fanservice there would have to be the acknowledgment by Ishida. Instead he's clueless and rides on and her confession goes unrealized. That's like the opposite of self insert fan service because the average otaku would have been angered if he couldn't understand what she was saying.
Rightful forgiveness is a bad message?
I could apply that exact same argument to Nisekoi or something
Well of course it's the worst Munto came out in 03
Absolutely
You can try, but I haven't seen it. Why can't you just talk about the movie we've both seen?
I'm talking about Tamako Market
That's pretty impossible if you're going to argue the point that
>That's like the opposite of self insert fan service because the average otaku would have been angered if he couldn't understand what she was saying
since that's info extrapolated from outside the film.
It wouldnt have made sense for him to aknowledge that anyways. In fact she would have gotten rejected for sure because at that point in his life Ishida thought of himself as literal trash and wasn't ready for a relationship. By the end of the movie/manga he's much more emotionally ready for that kind of thing and yes my head cannon is they got married later in life and the ending page of an opening door smacks you over the head with it
But you were specific with Nisekoi. Let's try it differently then. Why is that scene fan service to you? To me nothing about that scene was for the purpose other than the extension of what the characters had been feeling. It didn't happen just for the sake of happening or for the viewership. The scene was cute, but it didn't come off as fan service. It felt natural, that a young girl would have difficulty communicating her very first confession. Then at the end of scene it felt natural that she runs away because she is frustrated stacked on top of being embarrassed.
Reminder that this lost to the Boss Baby.
I wasn't disagreeing with you. See
To begin with, the point started with the words "fanservice relationship fantasies", as opposed to just fanservice, in response to someone viewing it as an actual relationship. The point the scene makes is that Shouko has feelings for Shouya, who, by virtue of the type of story it is, is the character we experience the story vicariously through. If you compare it to the implication of Ueno having feelings for him and such, it's quickly apparent that it's trying to make the viewer feel good, i.e. fanservice.
Your post works on the assumption that fanservice is inherently unnatural, which isn't true.

I want to FUCK Ueno!
It doesn't really make sense that all the crosses would fall off at the exact time that they did besides making for a cool closing sequence.
I watched the movie again yesterday because I liked it and the deaf girl so much that I started reading the manga yesterday night and just finished it about an hour ago.
In the end, it was heavily implied that they got together right? Considering he suddenly held hands with her and walked in the door like they were used to it holding hands already.
Movie ending > Manga ending
thought the movie was shit
I dont like bullying
>Guy has ruined his life and spent years on the brink of suicide due to his actions in elementary school.
>Tries to make amends with his victim and right the wrongs he has caused her.
>wHy Do YoU kEeP aBuSiNg HeR?!
Are you fucking retarded?
nope
she's banging bubble gum dude
Friendly reminder to all animeonly secondaries that manga is better and the flick is just a teaser for it
It's a given they both will work at Ishidamom's place, yes.
>everyone's gotta react the way I would!
Okay buddy
>holding hands walking into adulthood together
Yes.
I disagree. The only arc movie leaves out is their amateur movie project which was utterly pointless drag. Production, sound, direction and seiyuus are fantastic. Manga loses.
much better than Your Name
absolutely
Shame that Your Name was the one that stole the spotlight.
Fuckin' bunny girl senpai did the Your name concept better in only 3 medicore episodes
nice 0s
truth spoken
Kill yourself kudasai
I cannot consider this kino because the typical japanese non-confrontational tropes weigh it down in the second half of the movie. Nobody aside from mc and his family gets the retribution they deserve for being massive fucking cunts
This movie was good, but overrated.
Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki and Kaguya-Hime no Monogatari are both better anime movies desu.
>Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki
Absolute garbage and the worst Hosoda movie. Furfaggotry aside, all his movies are pretty bad.
>Kaguya-Hime no Monogatari
Only really stand out stylistically, really good looking and well animated, but it's boring and overextended like any other Takahata movie, scenery and screenplay were always his strongest sides.
Kawai was infinitely worse and completely irredeemable, at least in the manga anyways. You can at least see Ueno attempting to better herself and genuienly feeling bad for shit in the end, but Kawai just downright refused to feel any kind of guilt or remorse for her actions, even in her own pointless chapter she couldn't even show any hints of attempting to acknowledge any of the bad shit she did.
>What's happening is part of a phenomenon I wrote about a couple of months ago when I was asked to comment on Naoko Yamada. I went to my hōga for a viewing of "Koe no Katachi." I suffered a great deal in the process. The directing was dreadful; the movie was terrible. As I watched, I noticed that every time a character started the conversation, the director chose instead to cut to a shot of a desk or feet. I began marking on the back of my ticket every time that shot was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the ticket several dozen times. I was incredulous. Yamada's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of directing.
Ueno is a bitch but at least she's an honest bitch. Kawai is by far worst girl
>WAR BAD
>FLYING GOOD
>>WAR BAD
>>FLYING GOOD
But that's true
It represented mc finally lowering his barriers towards other people because he managed to forgive and forget past events.
The worst part of the end of Christianity as the cornerstone of our society's moral standard is that we no longer even understand the concept of "forgiveness". It's not like we couldn't have seen it coming, as anyone who has studied atheistic nations such as the Soviet Union or the People's Republic of China could tell you. I encourage you to marvel at how easily you eternally damn a man for sins he committed at an age no older than 10, and ask yourself if you would be treated the same. Please, user. Pick up a Bible, or if you're still in that adolescent stage of rebellion (or perhaps never left?) look to the Gita, or the Mahayana Sutras. Anything is better than a soul devoid of even the slightest ounce of mercy.
he's just mad that he's being compared to newer directors and so he cherry picks at the smallest details
by the way, I can't find the source of this quote
>falling for such obvious bait
Yeah, obviously - It's not like I don't understand basic symbolism. The point was about when it happened. It would've made more sense for them to fall when everyone was gathered or something.
How many layers of irony are we on?
I don't like anime style everything is too Shiny and looks wet. It's an instant turn off.
Changes in perspective can be sudden. Yes, it made for a cool closing sequence, but it also fits reality.
>bully gets the girl he's bullied
That's fucked up
visually stunning
That's a valid critique on the leg shots and vapid shots of random furniture. Do people legit think those shots contribute anything meaningful to her direction? They don't, senpai.
its alright
imagine the same shit with regular women but she cant hear.
I used to date a deaf girl
>fell in love writing on little sticky notes
>eventually learned sign
>she could still "talk" and make sounds so she could get my attention
>had to throw little balled up paper to get her attention
I had tons of fun with her
too bad she became this super deaf advocate and the deaf community are real fucking assholes.
Shou-chan is a chad
>he doesn't know about shoujoshit
