Certainly not with that attitude.
Becoming a weeb
Let me tell you about Rui Araizumi, the artist of the Slayers light novels and some of its manga, and basically created the finalized version of Lina Inverse.
>made Lina his waifu from day one
>is such a badass he ships Lina with practically every character in the series
>draws nudes of Lina, both canonically and in his free time
>makes sure that in modern canon drawings she's got hard nipples
>makes 3D Lina models for his own secret purposes
>calls Hayashibara, Lina's VA for the anime, "Her Excellency"
>uses a voice modifier program to give his Lina lewds a voice
>so devoted to the waifu he created three decades ago his lewds have a sense of honor
I dare any one of you to find a man as truly passionate about his waifu as this man.
protip: you can't

Why do you want to be yelled at by an emotional unstable woman? Isn't that something that is already a problem in real life, women like that?
I want to bully Lina when she's on her period and can't use magic to stop me.
Lina is a beautiful and adorable little feminine flower. Please do not call her 'emotionally unstable'.
I was raised in a bipolar household so I know how to deal with her episodes.
I knew a guy who would look forward to the days his girlfriend was on her period, because she'd be way too out of it to do anything and wanted to be left alone, meaning he could do whatever he wanted. When one of her friends showed a text from him bragging about it, she baked him a batch of brownies just for him.
>yeah yeah they had laxatives in them
No, she didn't put laxatives in the brownies.
She used her period blood.
I want to bully her uterus with my dick when she's on her period.
>Feeding a man your period blood as revenge
But that's a kinky turn on to most men, not a punishment
What's in period blood anyways?
What a creep.
Don't. She's too petite for that. She needs to be off her period so if there's any tearing it's physically obvious given how petite she is.
>About half of menstrual fluid is blood. This blood contains sodium, calcium, phosphate, iron, and chloride, the extent of which depends on the woman. As well as blood, the fluid consists of cervical mucus, vaginal secretions, and endometrial tissue.
Chunks of uterus lining that have sloughed off from the vaginal wall, one of her eggs, and a lot of iron and other minerals.
Hm... I'm kinda on the fence about this. I think I might drink menstrual blood if it was Lina's...
I knew a girl who talked about how she and her female friends sometimes drank each others' period blood. Said the taste was very metallic.
If you're still unsure, get a Lolina so you don't have to deal with those kinds of issues.
Why are they so perfect together?
They're both wonderfully hedonistic with multiple glaring flaws, and they can comically bring out the worst in each other, or the best. They're extremely similar to each other, but for completely opposite reasons, meaning they complement each other like yin and yang.
Desiring Lina is like desiring a real woman. You may as well get of Yea Forums and start dating.
This. OP, did you even try? You're already giving up.
What good would dating a real woman get me?
So pretty nutritious then.
Zel would be so embarrassed if he heard this discussion right now.
What if Amelia joined in on the discussion?
He'd still be embarrassed, but also secretly intrigued and aroused.
How come the guy with the mysterious past and cutting a dark figure is also the most-sensitive? It's like he's a hard candy with a soft, gooey center.
That's his unique appeal. He seems like a stock edgelord at first but he's actually a gentle, shy dork. I think because of Rezo's betrayal and the violent underworld he was thrown into, he had to learn how to project a hard facade in order to protect the sensitive heart that lay underneath all along.
fucking based
Do you think Amelia will love his bishounen appearance when he finally gets a cure, or will she be mad that he's not literally rock-hard anymore?
How the hell is Lina like a 3D woman?
Post Lina in spats NOW
>loud
>obnoxious
>opinionated
>steals your food
>demands attention
>requires constant complimenting
>easily jealous of other women
>emotionally unstable
>changes the "rules" of the game to suit her situation so she wins
>plays hard-to-get despite lusting for dick
Amelia is not the type of person to get hung up on appearances. At worst she might make a tactless but well-meaning comment or two, but I'm sure she would accept him and his softer dick with open arms.
I wonder how Zel would feel when he finally meets the future queen of Saillune...
Since Naga is firstborn, I hope succession falls to her instead. I don't want to see that kind of burden fall on Amelia. Then I'm afraid she really won't be allowed to marry whomever she wants.
Why would you force a mentally-scarred, alcoholic, free-spirited, buxom, independent woman to settle down and become the queen of the holiest country on the continent? Are you some kind of sadist or something?
Not towards Naga, I mean towards the entirety of Saillune and beyond having to deal with her constant bullshit.
>Naga is most likely going to be queen
Well I guess it's thing that the world of Slayers isn't industrialized, because any reign of hers will bring about a world war.
I wonder how Phil and Naga would act together, considering that Phil and Amelia are already a comedy duo. Would the three of them become a comedy trio? Would Amelia develop an ojou-laugh after hanging around her older sister for too long?
Naga will probably settle down eventually; she can't wander forever. And Saillune seems to have some kind of council of elders, so they may be able to veto or talk her out of her more addle-brained decisions.
It's pretty funny to me to imagine Naga as queen.
>Are you some kind of sadist or something?
Yeah. But I also want Amelia to be free to make her own choices.
>ywn marry xellos
feels bad man
Damn, he's been at this for 30 years now, his devotion has lasted longer than most user's lives, longer than most marriages. Truly a god among otaku.
Amelia can't even make her own choices while her dad is running the country. She's always a diplomat or an emissary, and the only time she's allowed to take off from these responsibilities is if there's a political threat that requires her priestess assistance.
In the light novels, she gets to avoid responsibilities because there's an entire cult devoted to Shabranigdo that sprouts up, which ultimately leads on a search for knowledge from an avatar of God and puts her into a position to combat Hellmaster. These are all things that are very important to Saillune, an extremely-religious country. Once these things are resolved, Amelia had to return home to do her jobs. She only gets to return in the recent LNs because she's going from kingdom to kingdom to explain the Mazoku threat and why the Mazoku Barrier is destroyed, since Garv and Hellmaster are destroyed.
>calls Hayashibara, Lina's VA for the anime, "Her Excellency"
A creep but a gentleman, I respect that.
Mazoku can't love. Even if you entered a conceptual contract of devotion with him, his nourishment comes from human pain and fear. He'd torture you mentally and physically just to get his kicks, and if you try to be happy around him he'll get sick.
>Amelia can't even make her own choices while her dad is running the country.
I know. That's why it's hard to think of ways that she choose her own mate and have her own autonomy as much as possible and not end up in an arranged political marriage.
Japanese fanfic writers who ship Amelia and Zel choose different approaches to get them hitched. Zel could get adopted into the royal family as Amelia's consort (but will probably never become king since he's a commoner). He may need to pick up some noble titles along the way to make it easier. Or they could elope to some other country, but considering how much Amelia loves her country and takes her responsibilities seriously, it's hard to see that happening without a long chain of extenuating circumstances. Or Saillune becomes a republic and ditches the monarchy. Or Saillune goes to war and Amelia has to go into exile (not very likely).
It's a little hard to think of a way for them to live happily ever after. But I still love them together.
Also, if I recall correctly, in one interview once Kanzaka said that women cannot inherit the throne of Saillune. I don't know if that's still his current thinking or not. In that case, Saillune is in trouble with such few male descendants of Eldoran--unless Naga or Amelia can have a son by the time Phil dies, it seems like another bloody succession battle, this time among distant relations, would ensue.
I don't think your memory is correct, since in:
tokitama.net78.net
Hajime clarifies Naga's identity and her position in line for the throne. Unless the translation's wrong, Phil gets the throne first when his dad passes away, and then Naga after him.
As for Zel, if it isn't public-knowledge that Rezo released Shabranigdo and is still in high-favor with the world because of his miracles, there could be an argument that he is from a "pure" bloodline that falls in line with Saillune's preaching.
>I don't think your memory is correct
I'm not sure. Where I remember reading it wasn't in that website but one of the untranslated interviews. The thing is that Kanzaka changes his mind all the time. If he did say that once, I don't know if it was before or after that early Blaster! interview.
The amount of Kanzaka interviews that are still untranslated are a pretty substantial number so I'm not sure if I'll be able to find it again.
Being Rezo's descendant would work in Zel's favor, although some fans think he would be reluctant to milk that due to his lofty pride. His big obstacle to marrying a royal might be his criminal record. I once read an interesting Jap fanfic about agents of Saillune going around to different countries clandestinely destroying records of Zel's crimes and arrest warrants in advance of his public engagement to Amelia.
GOD
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMNNN
FUCKING THICC
Does he change his mind a lot? I only have access to the limited translations myself, and it always seemed like when it came to lore contradicting itself, it was only because a fan threw him an unexpected curveball, ie "What's the difference between White and Holy?"
That's a good fanfic idea; Zelame stories generally have a lot of heart put into them.
>Does he change his mind a lot?
He's known for that. He'll make up a lot of answers on the fly and then forget how he originally answered when it comes up again later. Maybe it's partly because he's always working on several different series simultaneously and has to juggle different settings in his head at the same time, and Slayers has a particularly dense one. He's even said that when he decided to write novel 16, he had actually forgotten a lot of details about the setting and had to consult online fan-made wikis during the writing process.
It's best not to take his interview answers too seriously since they may change later on.
I've read so many god-tier Japanese ZelAme fanfics. Like series of immersive novel-length stories that take place over years, and written with the same quality as a published novel. Slayers fandom in general attracts some really talented writers.
Well the good thing out of all that is that, even though he'd forgotten a large portion over the years, he was at least willing to do research using fan's rabid knowledge so he wouldn't be pulling stuff out of his butt like other story-writers in the medium do.
I don't know if it's just Slayers that attracts these fans, not that I'm complaining. I wonder if other light novels have attracted the same kind of fervor when it comes to fanfiction. Then again, the world's longest story text is someone's Super Smash Bros. fanfiction, so that requires a lot of determination to complete.
What do you do about people who ship Zel with Lina, though?
It was probably a matter of timing. It wasn't just extremely popular and attracted a lot of fan activity in terms of quantity so the cream rose to the top, but there were a lot of adults also attracted to the fandom who had accumulated writing experience and could contribute high quality works. That older audience skew made a difference in the late 90s-mid 00s Slayers fanfic golden age, maybe because of the core group of long-time fans who had been reading the novels as young adults since the early 90s.
Another reason is probably the open-ended setting of Slayers that feels like a role-playing game, so there are endless scenarios that an imaginative doujin writer can come up with. And the pairs that never quite become romantic create a lot of frustration and determination on the part of their fans to give them a happy ending.
I just realized that the anime didn't appear dubbed until 2002, seven years after it aired in Japan. TokyoPop didn't share English LNs until 2004, fourteen whole years after they were originally released. That's a massive chunk of time, and it would make sense that there would be older fans with potentially better writing acumen creating content, especially as forums and repositories started appearing.
It's like everything hit at the right time for the fanbase to explode.
There will always be those people because of the ones who think Gourry is too dumb to be worthy of Lina, who think Zel is more compatible with her because they're both "intellectual" types, dislike Amelia for being too childish in her anime depiction, and most importantly , have Zel as a husbando and self-insert as Lina. There's nothing you can do about such people.
You need fine taste to appreciate ZelAme.
That's the problem with Lina, she's so dang lovable you can stick her with anyone and the ship floats.
Regardless, my priority has been and always will be Lina and Gourry. It has everything, the size difference, the color palettes, the attitudes and behaviors, but most importantly, the trust. There's just something so pure about unconditional faith in another person.
How old are you? Just curious.
25.
Lina a slut. A SLUT! I'm slut shaming Lina right now!
All I can think of that even challenges this is Asuka's English VA who has like a whole room dedicated to Asuka in her house.
youtube.com
But honestly she clearly hasn't put as much effort into the character as this guy.
Still, imagine being your own waifu like that.
What is it about caustic, bipolar, intelligent, petite red-heads that makes the world go mad?
>you now remember White Lina from S1
This should've made a comeback at some point.
Redheaded girls are hot and made for breeding.
New season when?
Watch Revo / Evo-R.
It should have been used as a more common indicator when Lina's magic is spent.
It wouldn't have the 90s art style anyway user, I haven't even seen Revolution for this exact reason. It's not Slayers to me unless it looks like this.
I, too, miss film grain and the darker colors of the 90s animation. However, switching to digital art isn't anywhere on anyone's list of complaints with Revo / Evo-R. The real, glaring issue with the two half-seasons is P*kot*. Episodes that don't have that bastard as the main-focus feel right at home to me.
Have shit taste.
Delete your freaking trips right fudging now.
Aren't you too young to like Slayers? Or did your country have a very late rerun or something
Flea markets and old VHS tapes are a thing, you know. When the option when hanging out with older female cousins was Sailor Moon or Slayers, I opted for this because I was told there were dragons in it. Then I got a boner to Lina and became hooked.
actually for me it was one of the biggest turnoffs, going straight from try to the revival series made the shitty color palettes and lazy art design really glaring. especially the night scenes, just no artistry in the use of color at all
>lina
Well that's a shame. Maybe if they had gone with their outfits that were on the cover of Volume 15, it would've helped with the transition. That's the consequence of having smaller budgets and easier technology, and while I miss the old ways I can't blame artists for using all the tools available to them.
Her breasts are too big.
nah don't get me wrong i don't mind digital inking, it would be stupid to expect the industry to go back to an obsolete and incredibly time intensive process just for the 'feeling' of it — like railing against xeroxed cel for not having as much SOUL as hand-inked ones, the later series just weren't very creative or pointed with their use of color or their framings, and it stood out a lot when side by side. though it is an unfavorable comparison since in purely visual terms try is a highwater mark for the franchise for sure.
